Expert picks & predictions for Thursday's Thunder vs. Pacers game
'During Game 5 in the third quarter, I sniped Jalen Williams at +2700 to win NBA Finals MVP and after his 40-point night concluded, his odds have dropped to +700 to +900 at most shops. Over the last three games, Williams has averaged 31.0 points, 6.3 rebounds, and 3.0 assists on 50/40/79 shooting splits.
If the Pacers win Game 6 and 7, then Pascal Siakam is the best bet to win Finals MVP. Much like the Eastern Conference Finals, Siakam is the best overall and most consistent player for the Pacers. Siakam just hasn't had the game winners like Tyrese Haliuburton to boost his popularity.'

Report: Thunder to host Spurs in NBA 2025 Christmas game

After being bluntly left out of last year's Christmas Day slate, the Oklahoma City Thunder have returned to playing on the NBA's all-day slate. They will host the San Antonio Spurs on Thursday, Dec. 25, per ESPN's Shams Charania. The rest of the 2025-26 regular season schedule will be released later this month. The Thunder will enter the season as a popular championship choice. Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, Jalen Williams and Chet Holmgren headline the NBA champion. Meanwhile, the Spurs are viewed as an up-and-coming squad. Victor Wembanyama has made them must-watch TV despite a recent lack of success. That could change soon, though. De'Aaron Fox was recently given a contract extension to stay. They drafted Stephon Castle and Dylan Harper with back-to-back top-four picks. Of course, the Wembanyama and Holmgren rivalry always makes the Thunder and Spurs matchups must-see. Both seven-footers were viewed as modern-day centers who would change the course of their respective franchise. The rest of the 2025 Christmas slate was also announced:

NBA Christmas Day schedule features Rockets-Lakers, Cavs-Knicks, Spurs-Thunder: Sources

The first NBA game on NBC in 23 years will feature the defending champion Oklahoma City Thunder against perhaps their chief competition in the West, and the Cleveland Cavaliers are back on Christmas Day for the first time since the LeBron James era, a league source confirmed to The Athletic on Friday. Advertisement The Rockets, who finished second in the West last season and traded for Kevin Durant, will play the Thunder on ring night — as is tradition in the NBA — followed by the Golden State Warriors at the Los Angeles Lakers. This coming season is the first of an 11-year, $75 billion national TV contract for the NBA, which features a new partnership with Amazon and a reuniting of the league with NBC. ESPN and ABC remain partners — and will carry Christmas Day games per usual — while TNT is no longer a league partner. ESPN was the first to report NBC's opening night slate as well as the five Christmas Day games, which are: This story will be updated. Spot the pattern. Boston Celtics Sign Head Coach Joe Mazzulla to Multi-Year Extension

Boston Celtics president Brad Stevens has said throughout the offseason that the team wanted Joe Mazzulla to be its coach for a long time. It made that more than a proclamation Friday, announcing it has signed Mazzulla to a multi-year contract extension. Length and details of the new deal were not released. In a statement, Mazzulla called his new pact with the team "a blessing." "I would not be here without my faith, my wife, and my children," Mazzulla said. "We are thankful for the partnership with our ownership groups, Brad's mentorship, and the support of our staff. Most importantly, I am grateful for the players I have been able to coach the past three seasons. I look forward to competing for the Celtics and the city of Boston." Mazzulla, 37, is coming off his third season as Boston's coach and has guided the team to the playoffs each season, including the franchise's 18th NBA title to cap the 2023-24 season. He was the youngest head coach to win the NBA Finals since the 1968-69 season, when 35-year-old Bill Russell led the Celtics to the championship as a player-coach. Under Mazzulla, the Celtics have won at least 57 games each of those seasons and topped 60 victories in each of the last two. Though Stevens has never publicly discussed the details of Mazzulla's contract, the coach was initially given an extension shortly after having the interim tag lifted in February 2023. Stevens confirmed in June that Mazzulla had received at least one additional extension prior to his latest one. "He understands the job and has a passion for the Celtics that is only rivaled by our most die-hard fans," Stevens said in a statement. "He's worked hard and accomplished amazing things in his first three years as a head coach — including averaging over 60 wins per season and winning the 2024 NBA Championship. Joe is a gifted leader who brings a consistent commitment to learning, improving, and maximizing each day we get to compete for the Boston Celtics." Mazzulla originally joined the Celtics in 2019 and spent the next three seasons as an assistant before becoming interim head coach after former boss Ime Udoka was suspended by the team prior to the start of the 2022-23 season.
