New Delhi: Gold and silver prices surged sharply on Wednesday, with both precious metals scaling new heights in the domestic market amid mixed global cues.
While 24-carat gold breached the Rs 1 lakh mark per 10 grams again, silver touched a new all-time high of over Rs 1.15 lakh per kg.
The price of 24-carat gold increased by Rs 1,025, from Rs 99,508 on Tuesday to Rs 1,00,533 per 10 grams, according to data published by the India Bullion and Jewellers Association (IBJA).
The price of 22-carat gold also saw a notable rise, climbing to Rs 92,088 per 10 grams from Rs 91,149. Similarly, the price of 10 grams of 18-carat gold increased from Rs 74,631 to Rs 75,400.
The price of silver increased by Rs 1,357, from Rs 1,14,493 a day earlier to Rs 1,15,850 per kg.
Silver has increased by more than 34 per cent since January 1 this year, when it was priced at Rs 86,055 per kg.
Meanwhile, in the futures market, gold and silver continued their upward trend. On the Multi Commodity Exchange (MCX), the gold contract for August 5 was trading 0.17 per cent higher at Rs 1,00,500.
The silver contract for September 5 rose 0.58 per cent to Rs 1,16,323.
Globally, however, trends were mixed. On COMEX, gold prices dipped slightly by 0.08 per cent to $3,441.10 an ounce, while silver rose 0.52 per cent to $39.76 an ounce.
Experts noted that domestic gold prices remained range-bound near record levels, influenced by steady international gold rates and a stable rupee. Silver, on the other hand, continued its strong upward momentum both domestically and internationally.
"Gold prices remained range-bound near higher levels, with MCX trading close to Rs 1,03,500, taking cues from COMEX gold, which held steady around $3,424. The rupee also stayed flat, limiting volatility in domestic gold prices," said Jateen Trivedi of LKP Securities.
Investors now await key economic cues from upcoming US Manufacturing and Services PMI data. In the short term, gold is expected to trade within a range of Rs 99,000–Rs 1,01,500 on MCX, Trivedi said.

Attention Google Pay, PhonePe, Paytm, BHIM, YONO users: Here's how to increase UPI transaction limit from Rs 1 lakh, condition is..., banks must...

UPI transactions- File image UPI transaction limit: In a world which is witnessing a massive growth in digital payments and especially the Unified Payments Interface (UPI), which has become the fastest and most popular way to transfer money, a transaction limit of Rs 1 lakh is sometimes a point of concern for many users. It is widely felt that the transaction limit often leads to issues while transacting for bigger financial transactions. If you are one of those UPI users who is interested in increasing your daily transaction limit, here is the process you need to know. How to increase UPI Limit? 1. Check your current limit: Before applying for increasing your UPI limit, you have to check your current limit by opening your UPI app or bank app. 2. Ensure KYC is complete: You have to ensure that your bank account must be fully KYC verified. 3. Request limit increase: After the above steps are confirmed, you need to visit your bank branch or apply via net/mobile banking. 4. Wait for approval: Bank reviews your transaction history; approval takes 1–2 days. 5. Use another UPI ID if needed: Link a different bank account to continue large transfers. What are the major UPI rule changes? In a major update for UPI users, using UPI will come with a set of new rules aimed at improving transaction speed, reducing system load, and making payments safer from August 1. In the recent update, the National Payments Corporation of India (NPCI) has issued fresh guidelines for all members of the UPI ecosystem, including banks and payment apps, which must be implemented by July 31. What are the new limits on UPI transactions? One of the major changes is a cap on how many times users can check their account balance through a UPI app. From next month, each app will allow a maximum of 50 balance enquiries per customer per day, within a rolling 24-hour period. This limit is per app, meaning a user can still check their balance separately on different UPI apps. The new rules also mandate banks to display the available account balance after every successful UPI payment. For auto-pay transactions, NPCI has fixed specific time slots to avoid network congestion. (With inputs from agencies)

Samsung, Startup India Join Hands To Empower Grassroots Innovators From Small-Town India

The MoU marks a public-private partnership that will leverage startup incubators, accelerators, and mentors alongside Samsung's on-ground innovation programme. In a landmark move to promote innovation and entrepreneurship in India's heartland, Samsung India has signed a strategic Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Startup India, a flagship initiative of the Government of India. The collaboration aims to empower young innovators from Tier 2 and Tier 3 cities through Samsung's flagship innovation programme — Solve for Tomorrow, according to a statement. Signed in New Delhi, the MoU marks a powerful public-private partnership that will leverage Startup India's national ecosystem of incubators, accelerators, and mentors alongside Samsung's on-ground innovation programme. The goal is to offer mentorship, funding, infrastructure access, and expert guidance to young minds building scalable solutions to local problems, Samsung said in a statement. 'At Samsung, we believe innovation thrives when young minds are empowered with the right platforms and support systems," said SP Chun, Corporate Vice President, Samsung Southwest Asia. 'This partnership brings together Samsung Solve for Tomorrow's vision and Startup India's expansive network, aiming to nurture the next generation of change-makers from the remote corners of India." Sanjiv, joint secretary at the Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade (DPIIT), said, 'Empowering young innovators is central to India's growth story. This collaboration aligns closely with the vision of the Atmanirbhar Bharat and will drive inclusive innovation across the country." Samsung Solve for Tomorrow is a flagship innovation and education initiative designed to foster problem-solving, creativity, and social impact among India's youth. Through this programme, young students are encouraged to identify real-world issues in their communities and work toward building scalable solutions using design thinking, technology and entrepreneurial skills. The initiative provides mentorship, workshops, prototype development support, and opportunities to pitch ideas to experts and investors, the company stated. In its 2025 edition, the programme has uncovered exceptional talent from remote districts including Samastipur (Bihar), Guntur (Andhra Pradesh), Baramulla (Jammu & Kashmir), and Cachar (Assam) — highlighting the programme's deepening reach and hyperlocal engagement. Through this partnership, Samsung and Startup India will work closely with students and startups from smaller towns to provide innovation challenges, hands-on workshops, and incubation support—creating a seamless bridge between ideas and impact. This year's Solve for Tomorrow programme features incubation support and significant grants. The Top 4 winning teams will receive a grant of Rs 1 crore each, while the Top 20 teams will get Rs 20 lakh, and Top 40 teams will be awarded Rs 8 lakh each. Samsung India's programme 'Solve For Tomorrow 2025', spanning six months, invited students aged 14-22 to submit their tech ideas as either individuals or groups. Participants were invited to design solutions across four impact-driven themes: AI for a Safer, Smarter, and Inclusive Bharat; Future of Health, Hygiene, and Well-being in India; Social change through Sports and Tech for Education and Better Futures; and Environmental Sustainability via Technology. 'The shortlists have gone hyperlocal, with the programme discovering young innovators from some of India's far-flung districts—including Samastipur in Bihar, Guntur in Andhra Pradesh, Baramulla in Jammu & Kashmir, and Cachar in Assam. The reach and resonance of the programme is evident not just in the geographies covered, but also in the ingenuity of the ideas submitted across all four themes," Samsung said in the statement. The campaign has witnessed overwhelming interest from students who not only submitted technically sound ideas but also showed a deep understanding of their community's challenges — from improving healthcare access to using AI for safer streets. Launched in the US in 2010, Samsung Solve for Tomorrow is now active in 68 countries, with over 3 million participants globally. The India edition has become one of the most dynamic, reflecting both the size of the youth population and the hunger for meaningful change. By aligning the programme with Make in India, Skill India, and Digital India, Samsung and Startup India aim to ensure that innovation doesn't remain limited to metros and elite institutions but flourishes equally in classrooms across India's villages and towns.
