Is It The End of Belle and Shawn on Days of Our Lives?
Belle and Shawn's relationship on Days of Our Lives has been a long and complicated one, marked by young love, interference, betrayal, and numerous attempts at reconciliation. Here's a detailed timeline:
High School Sweethearts: Shawn-Douglas Brady (then Jason Cook) and Belle Black (then Kirsten Storms), the children of supercouples Bo (Peter Reckell) and Hope (Kristian Alfonso) and John (the late Drake Hogestyn) and Marlena (Deidre Hall), began their romance as teenagers at Salem High. They were depicted as deeply in love, experiencing typical high school milestones like romantic dates and school dances.
Jan Spears' Interference: Their young love faced a significant challenge when Shawn's classmate, Jan Spears (Heather Lindell), claimed he fathered her baby after a school trip to Puerto Rico (the baby was conceived through a rape). To protect Jan from further trauma, Shawn claimed paternity, devastating Belle and leading to their breakup.
The Truth Revealed and Tentative Reunion: Eventually, their friends proved Jan's miscarriage was an accident after Belle had left. Shawn begged Belle for another chance, but she refused due to the hurt and betrayal. After some time and effort from their friends, Shawn and Belle finally reunited.
College Years: They headed off to Salem University together, committed to waiting until marriage to be intimate.
Jan's Miscarriage and Manipulation: Jan later miscarried after an argument with Belle at Shawn's house. Jan falsely blamed Belle for the miscarriage, and Shawn initially believed her, further hurting Belle.
Philip Kiriakis Enters the Picture: During this time, Philip Kiriakis (then Kyle Brandt) also developed feelings for Belle, creating a love triangle.
Amnesia and Another Woman: After escaping Jan's clutches, Shawn had a motorcycle accident and suffered amnesia. Jan manipulated him into believing they were a couple. Upon his return to Salem, Shawn saw Belle with Philip and mistakenly believed Belle had moved on.
Belle and Philip's Relationship: Hurt by Shawn's apparent relationship with Jan, Belle found comfort in Philip's support, and they eventually decided to marry.
A Night of Passion and A Pregnancy: During a blizzard, Belle and Shawn sought refuge in a barn and made love, though neither remembered due to hypothermia. Belle later became pregnant and assumed Philip was the father.
Realization and Another Engagement: Belle realized her true feelings were for Shawn and wanted to be with him. However, Shawn, tired of pursuing her, proposed to Mimi Lockhart (Farah Fath), and they became engaged and eventually married. Belle focused on her marriage to Philip and their daughter, Claire (who was secretly Shawn's).
Paternity Revealed and a Broken Marriage: A DNA test revealed Shawn was Claire's biological father, leading to the end of his marriage to Mimi. Belle also left Philip after the truth came out.
Loss and Misunderstanding: Belle became pregnant again, but doctors informed her the baby wouldn't survive. Philip made the difficult decision to terminate the pregnancy, devastating Belle and further complicating her relationships. Shawn, misunderstanding a conversation, believed Belle wanted nothing to do with him and sought solace with Willow Stark (Annie Burstede).
Reconciliation and a Proposal: After several challenges, Shawn broke things off with Willow, and he and Belle started to reconnect. Shawn proposed marriage to Belle on July 25, 2007.
Betrayal and Marriage: Grieving the loss of her father, Belle slept with Philip (then Jay Kenneth Johnson). Despite this, Belle and Shawn married on November 23, 2007.
Truth and Departure: On December 31, 2007, Belle confessed her infidelity to Shawn. In March 2008, they reconciled and decided to sail around the world with Claire to strengthen their marriage, mirroring Shawn's parents. This led to their departure from Salem for several years.
Return to Salem: Belle (Martha Madison) and Shawn (Brandon Beemer) returned to Salem with a teenage Claire (Olivia Rose Keegan).
Continued Struggles: Their relationship continued to face difficulties, often involving other people and past issues.
Another Marriage and Divorce: Belle and Shawn remarried at some point between their return and 2024. However, their marriage ended again on December 4, 2024. The reasons included Shawn's guilt over accidentally shooting his father, Bo, and the emotional distance that grew between them. They both admitted they still loved each other, but it wasn't enough to save their marriage. Shawn's guilt and the pain they had caused each other over the years, involving others like Talia (Aketra Sevillian), Jan, and EJ (Dan Feuerriegel), contributed to their final decision to divorce.
Moving On: Following their divorce, Belle has been involved with EJ. And Shawn has moved on with Jada (Elia Cantu). However, their history suggests that a reconciliation between Belle and Shawn is always a possibility in Salem. Do you think the couple is done for good or do you think they will make their way back to each other, especially considering Belle will soon be dealt the blow of her father's death.

Days of Our Lives Recap: John Black's Funeral Continues
Days of Our Lives Recap: John Black's Funeral Continues originally appeared on Daytime Confidential. On today's Days of Our Lives recap: Part Two: Funeral: Chanel and Tate are talking about how special his Grandpa John was. She knows from Johnny how John always tried to make folks laugh. Things get awkward when Chanel asks about the baby and Tate tells her about touring L&D the day before. She asks about the adoption and Tate says they have yet to find a family. Marlena and Johnny chat about the upcoming service. She asks how he's doing and says her children and grandchildren are most important. She asks about the strain between him and EJ and Johnny asks that they focus on his good grandfather rather than his sketchy dad. Abe and Steve connect they reflect on all the adventures they all had together. Steve says when push came to shove, there was no better man to have in their corner than John Black. Eric approaches the front and calls the service to order (I. AM. NOT. READY!). Brady asks Rachel to take a seat but she's not ready to say goodbye. Marlena approaches and says she feels the same but if they hold those, they love close to their heart they never really leave. With that, she gives Rachel the Mickey Mantle baseball card and says John would want her to have it. If she feels sad, she will immediately remember her grandfather and the wonderful time they had at the Cubs game. Brady wants to take Rachel home when Tate steps in. He thinks it would be better if he and Arianna Grace did the job. Rachel asks Grandma Marlena if that would be ok, and they all agree. Rachel puts her hand on her father's heart and says Grandpa John will always be right there. As everyone begins to cry, they all hug and exit. Everyone takes a seat and breathes as Eric begins the service. He thanks everyone who is there, those who wish they were there and those engaged virtually (well played). Eric says they are there to honor the life and legacy of John Black. With that, Eric leads the group in a responsive prayer. Eric calls what they are engaged in as a 'homegoing' service and says he has been welcomed into his eternal home by Shawn and Caroline and all those who loved him. Everyone begins to tear up as Eric leads them in a scripture reading. Belle looks back and sees Shawn Douglas has joined the group. Park: Hope wheels Bo out to enjoy a little fresh air. She hugs him from behind when Bo says he wants to show her just how much he appreciates her and how much she loves him. Hope takes a seat and wonders how he managed to pull off a picnic. Bo says he had a little help from two little angels named Ciara and Chelsea. He notices that Hope is a little less than happy and pushes to know what's up. Hope says it's about John and explains he is gone. Bo doesn't get it and Hope's expression helps him understand John is dead. Funeral: Brady stands at the podium and begins to sing Amazing Grace. The entire congregation begins to sing with him. Marlena notices Belle is a bit beside herself and grabs her hand (that has to be a real-life reaction). Everyone quiets down, when Brady sings the last line and his voice begins to crack (I just can't. The responses from the background all the way to the back are just killing me). Abe, Steve and Shane are at the podium. Abe says they all represent a part of John's life. Abe says he worked with John at the police department, Shane was his boss at the ISA, and Steve was his partner at Black Patch. Abe says no matter his role, John always fought for justice. Shane says the commendations John earned over the years barely scratched the surface of his service. Steve says he was always willing to protect his family and friends. His final act of courage was to save the life of a man he considered his brother. Abe notes loyalty was a huge part of John's character. Shane says that's how they will remember him. They are all so better off for having known him and the world is a safer place. Park: Bo is freaking out when he realizes John is dead because of him. Hope says nothing would have stopped him. They all worked together because they loved him. Bo wonders why she didn't tell him, but Hope says they were trying to protect him. Bo can't imagine what Marlena is going through and Hope says she spoke to her that morning. When he learns the funeral is happening today, Bo stops him saying he needs to protect his recovery. Bo says he must be there for Marlena and to honor John. Funeral: Kayla and Roman are at the podium. She says they along with their sister Kimberly not only lost a great man but one they called his brother. Roman explains a bit of the story of how John thought he was him. Roman believes John handled the situation with such grace. He says he loved John for raising his children and taking care of his family, which became his family. Kayla notes how John never hesitated to help someone in need. Roman says there is an entire list of reasons they will always be grateful for John Black. Kayla says she is grateful for John's relationship with their parents. She notes he and Caroline always stayed close. The proof of that was his naming his first-born son after the Brady family. She says John was one of the best men she has ever known. Belle takes the podium and talks about him being a superhero. Even as an adult, she knew she was safe when with her dad. She breaks down when noting he was always very powerful in the small moments when she needed support or a laugh. She returns to her seat and is comforted by her mother. Hospital: The doctor will not give Bo her approval to go to John's funeral. She leaves and and Bo tells Hope he has to be there for one of his best friends. She begs him to take care of himself. Funeral: Paul takes the podium, takes a breath, and notes how relatively new he is to the family. He says sports can bring folks together which is one of the ways that bonded him and his father. Paul thinks it's possible his dad played pro ball in a past life and maybe even threw a pitch for his favorite team… and the congregation said, 'the New York Yankees!' Paul begins to cry when he says his dad was also a Cubs fan. He says baseball games have no clock, but off the field time runs out. He wishes he had more time with his dad and wants him there when he and Andrew get married. That being said, the time he had with his father made him feel loved and accepted. Every time he sees a rainbow in the sky or a baseball go by he will think of his father. With tears streaming down his face, Paul looks at the picture of his father and says he can't wait to play another game of baseball with his dad. To be continued… Keep checking back for the latest Days of Our Lives recaps! This story was originally reported by Daytime Confidential on Jun 11, 2025, where it first appeared.

Love Island USA Fans Convinced Belle-A Is Coming Back After the Show Accidentally Leaked This Clue
With more than 35,000 fans signing a petition for her return, the chances of Belle-A coming back to Love Island USA may have gotten slightly better—especially after the show's cryptic Instagram post. Isabelle-Anne 'Belle-A' Walker, a 22-year-old from Honolulu, Hawaii, was one of the original islanders who entered the Love Island USA Season 7 villa on Day 1. She coupled up with Nicolas Nic Vansteenberghe but was stolen from him by new bombshell Cierra Ortega. During the first official recoupling, Nic, who was in a love triangle with both Cierra and Belle-A, chose to stay coupled up with Cierra, thus dumping Belle-A from Love Island USA. But is she really gone? More from StyleCaster Love Island USA's Cierra Is Best Friends With Not 1 But 2 Former Islanders The Truth About Love Island USA's Amaya's Laugh as Fans Compare Her to Janice From Friends Related: All the Love Island USA couples who are still together Love Island USA fans speculated Belle-A was coming back to the show after the official Love Island USA Instagram account shared a post of Belle-A's exit from the villa with the phrase: 'may be leaving.' 'Belle-A may be leaving the Villa, but she stayed true to herself through and through. Send some love for our beautiful Belledasha! 🫶 #LoveIslandUSA,' the official Love Island USA Instagram captioned a photo of Belle-A and her suitcase after her elimination. Fans also speculated Belle-A was coming back to Love Island USA because she hasn't returned to Instagram yet, at the time of writing. Belle-A was eliminated from Love Island USA Season 7 on Sunday, June 8. However, as of June 10, she still hadn't come back to her Instagram, with her friends and family still posting for her. 'Never her loss! Say it LOUDERRRRRRR!! Her heart really is the prettiest thing about her but that face card will never decline ❤️🔥 Our girl moved with class and grace from start to finish. Praying this isn't the last we see of Belle-A on our screens! What was your favorite Belledasha quote or moment so far? #TeamBelleA #LoveIslandUSA,' Belle-A's friends and family captioned a post on her Instagram account after her elimination. Belle-A's Instagram also shared a petition with more than 35,000 signatures calling for Love Island USA to bring her back. Love Island has brought back eliminated contestants before. As fans have noted, Love Island USA brought back Carsten 'Bergie' Bergersen after he was eliminated on Night 1. On Night 1, Bergie and his partner, Anna Kurdys, were voted as the least compatible couple by their islanders and had to choose between them who to leave the villa. Bergie volunteered to eliminate himself, but was brought back the next day with two new bombshells. He went on to couple up with bombshell Taylor Smith during Casa Amor, and the two are still together to this day. Taylor even called for Love Island USA to bring back Belle-A like how the show did with Bergie in a TikTok video after Belle-A's elimination. 'Bring back BelledashA Like they brought back Bergie!!' Taylor wrote over an Instagram video of her in bed with Bergie. She captioned the post, 'I wanna see more of my girl Bell-A please!! @Bergielicious35 @Peacock #loveislandusa #loveislandseason7.' Fans have also compared Bergie and Belle-A as having similar archetypes on Love Island USA, given that Bergie hadn't had a girlfriend before the series and Belle-A only being with one person. As for why Belle-A may not be coming back to Love Island USA, Bergie returned immediately the episode after has elimination. Given that Love Island USA has aired several episodes since Belle-A was dumped, her chances of returning are less and less. (Though Molly Marsh returned to Love Island UK Season 10 as a Casa Amor bombshell after she was dumped on Day 19, which fans are hoping will happen with Belle-A.) Belle-A has also done a post-show interview with former Love Island USA contestant Cely Vazquez, which means she's been exposed to the real world and could be leaving the show for good. Whatever happens to Belle-A, she sure made her impact on the villa and fans. Love Island USA streams on Peacock. ‘Days of Our Lives' cast shot funeral for Drake Hogestyn's character while actor was dying of cancer
When life imitates art. While Drake Hogestyn was dying of pancreatic cancer last year, the 'Days of Our Lives' cast and crew filmed his character John Black's funeral as they prepared to also say goodbye to the actor himself. Hogestyn's family, according to Variety, agreed to executive producer Ken Corday's plan for the actor's on-screen send-off. Advertisement 8 Drake Hogestyn in 'Days of Our Lives.' Peacock 'Drake, as the consummate storyteller that he is, said, 'Absolutely. You gotta tell the story,'' Eric Martsoff, who played Hogestyn's son Brady, told the outlet in an interview published Monday. 'Drake knew what he was facing,' Martsoff, 53, continued. 'He understood that this is a story fans would want to be told. So Drake graciously said, 'Yes, let's do it.' But knowing that this man was on the planet, and we were literally taping his funeral and his death, that was hard. It was really hard.' Black's funeral scenes airing this week were shot over three days in September. The following weekend, Hogestyn passed away at age 70. 'There was literally zero acting going on during those three days,' Martsoff said. 'Everyone was holding hands to the point where our hands were getting white.' He later flatlined in a hospital with his wife, Dr. Marlena Evans (Deidre Hall), close by his side. Black's body was completely covered in gauze to sidestep the fact that the character was no longer being played by Hogestyn. 8 John Black's death scene in 'Days of Our Lives.' Peacock Advertisement Martha Madison, who played Black's daughter, Bella, told Variety the 'Days' team felt a 'responsibility' to honor the character the right way. 'The fact that we were losing Drake at the same time, it was very hard on us emotionally, as we're losing someone we really love,' the 47-year-old actress explained. 'We didn't really have to perform. It wasn't like we were having to dig for anything. It was just all right there.' Madison also noted that shooting Black's funeral scenes was the cast's way of saying goodbye to Hogestyn. 8 The cast of 'Days of Our Lives.' 8 Mary Beth Evans and Drake Hogestyn at the 50th Daytime Emmy Awards in 2023.
