All the Glastonbury 2025 secret sets as Lewis Capaldi makes surprise comeback
Whether you bagged tickets to the biggest festival of the year (see: ever), or you've been catching up with the best bits on BBC iPlayer, there's no denying that Glastonbury 2025 has been epic. And, with two full days left to go, including headline slots from Neil Young and Olivia Rodrigo, there's still soooooo much insane music to check out.
If you keep up with the famous festival, you'll also know that they're renowned for booking 'secret sets.' In the past, Emily Eavis and co have sneaked the likes of the Foo Fighters, Jack White and Pulp into Worthy Farm, all of whom have delivered the most unreal performances to the shock (and delight) of their adoring fans.
So, as Glasto 2025 is still in full swing - and we eagerly await the mysterious Patchwork this evening (everyone is now saying it's Chappell Roan, which would be *iconic*) - let's take a look at the best secret sets of this year so far...
OK, this is deffo the biggest 'secret' performance of the weekend, albeit heavily rumoured. Yesterday, Lewis Capaldi made a triumphant return to the Pyramid Stage after taking some well-earned time off. Many will remember that, back in 2023, Lewis, who has Tourette's, performed on the same stage but had to cut his set short. In front of the crowd, he experienced voice loss and pronounced tics, which led to the audience stepping in and helping him sing his iconic hit, 'Someone You Loved', in support.
When he stepped onto the stage this year, as the 'TBA' act scheduled before Alanis Morissette, Lewis let his voice do the talking. He addressed the crowd: "Glastonbury, it's so good to be back. I'm not going to say much up here today because if I did I might start crying."
No, we're not crying, you are.
For those who managed to get out of bed before midday on Friday, you'll likely have trekked to the Woodsies stage for a surprise set from Lorde. The New Zealand musician has recently made a return to social media and the music world, having last dropped Solar Power back in 2021.
Rocking up in an all white casual outfit, the 28-year-old packed out the stage - and beyond - as she performed her new album, Virgin, in full. She also played many of her earlier hits, including 2017's 'Green Light.'
Just before her set, Glastonbury announced it had closed the Woodsies field due to overcrowding. Of course, this is because rumours about her appearance had been spreading around the site. Lorde last played the Pyramid Stage in 2022.
Music fans who still had battery on their phone - or just happened to be walking past the Strummerville stage at 3pm - were treated to an impromptu secret set from Olivia Dean.
The musician announced her set on Instagram not long before the performance, which of course, led to huge crowds.
The question is now, who else will be making a surprise appearance over the last two days?

Pulp revealed as mystery Glastonbury band as they echo famous 1990s headline set
Declaring a 'Pulp Summer' on the screen behind them, the band appeared on Glastonbury's Pyramid Stage for another of the festival's "surprise" performances. Billed as the non-existent act Patchwork in the days beforehand, - similar to when The ChurnUps turned out to be the in 2023. A group of people mysteriously walked on to the stage in waterproof ponchos before the "secret" was revealed and the homage to fellow Saturday night performer Charli XCX's Brat Summer appeared on on Friday, everyone at knew who to expect by the time and co began at 6.15pm, thanks to the bookies' odds, "secret" sources and whispers around the festival. The Sheffield band were welcomed with a huge turnout at the festival's biggest stage. In tribute to their headline performance in 1995, when they famously took over from The Stone Roses at short notice, Pulp started with Sorted For E's And Whizz and then straight into Disco 2000 - two songs played live for the first time on this same stage 30 years ago. "It was the very, very first time they were played - you could say they were born in Glastonbury," Cocker told the crowd. From the Mercury Prize-winning Different Class, the album that propelled Pulp to topping the charts and platinum sales, and one of the most critically acclaimed records of the 1990s, the songs prompted a mass sing-along - and jump-along from an enthusiastic crowd who knew every word. "My name's Jarvis, this is Pulp," Cocker announced, just in case anyone was in any doubt. "Sorry for people who were expecting Patchwork. Did you know that we were going to play?" After their 1990s hits, the band launched into Spike Island, the lead single from More - their first album in 24 years, released earlier this month. It was a set full of memorable moments - including the Red Arrows flying over - and Cocker picking up an acoustic guitar for the poignant Something Changed. Do You Remember The First Time? And Babies also featured, before the band of course ended on their biggest hit - Common People. Pulp's appearance came after keyboard player Candida Doyle appeared to confirm the band would not perform at the festival in a BBC interview beforehand, despite much speculation that they would fill one of the unannounced slots. Read more from Sky News:' "We wanted to, just because it's the 30th anniversary and that kind of thing, and they weren't interested," she said. "And then we were thinking maybe next year, and then they're not doing it next year." Along with the headliners and the Sunday afternoon "legends slots", unannounced sets from the likes of the Foo Fighters, The Killers, and have become some of the most talked-about performances at Glastonbury in recent years. As well as Capaldi and Pulp, acts including Lorde and Haim have also popped up as "secrets" this year. Pulp have a history of surprises at the festival, having performed a secret set on the Park Stage in 2011 following their first hiatus. Formed in 1978, they released three albums in the 1980s and early '90s before finding mainstream success with 1994's His And Hers. Different Class came 18 months later in October 1995 and Pulp became huge, helped in no small part by their memorable performance at Glastonbury earlier in the year. Thirty years later, they have entered the festival's history books once again.

Lorde releases new album 'Virgin': Read her heartfelt post about the project
Lorde's new album, " Virgin," is out today and the singer is opening up about the heartfelt meaning behind the project. The "What Was That" singer shared an Instagram post on Friday and said she feels "simply crazy," explaining how the new album came to life. "For a long time an album is just a handful of word docs and Logic sessions, a couple whiteboards, a raw image from a medical scanner in an undisclosed country lol," she began. "I tried to love Virgin right the way through these stages at the same time as I was learning to love myself in my many stages of change, growth, brokenness and wholeness." She continued, "I'm still in shock and awe that so many of my heroes worked on Virgin — it has changed me collaborating with people this good." She ended her post by saying, "This album broke me apart and forged a new creature out of me. I am so proud to stand before you today as her, grateful for this beautiful life spent singing to myself and to you, for as long as you'll have me." The new album includes the singles: "What Was That," "Hammer" and "Man of the Year." Lorde co-produced the album with Jim-E Stack. This September, Lorde will embark on the Ultrasound World Tour in support of her new album. According to a press release, the tour has already sold out multiple nights at Madison Square Garden, London's O2 Arena and Kia Forum. Her tour will kick off in Austin and make stops in Boston, Philadelphia, Minneapolis, Las Vegas as well as stops across Europe, before wrapping up in Brooklyn, New York, on December 17.
