When Jasprit Bumrah gave Cameron Green confidence with special message before surgery
Cameron Green revealed that Jasprit Bumrah reached out to him before he went in to get back surgery last year. Green had to go under the knife ahead of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy last year as scans found that he was struggling with a unique issue. This meant that Green missed the BGT series against India at home, the Champions Trophy and the IPL 2025 season. advertisementGreen recently made his comeback to the field after a lengthy lay-off and will be part of the World Test Championship final for Australia against South Africa. Speaking to 7News, Green said that he had a chat with Ben Dwarshius and Jason Behrendorff before getting the surgery and felt he had made the right choice as soon as he made his mind up about surgery. 'I spoke to Ben Dwarshuis, and Jason Behrendorff, who I'm very close to in WA,' Green said. "And they couldn't speak any higher about getting it."
'Both of them said they wished they got it earlier. I think that's obviously really reassuring. As soon as I decided to get it, I knew it was the right thing to do," said Green. Green said that Bumrah reached out to him the night before surgery and while the Indian pacer was playing in a Test match and it was a special moment for him. advertisement'Even Jasprit Bumrah reached out the night before I was getting surgery. He was in the middle of a Test match in India. Just a few things like that is really special,' said Green. Bumrah and Green were part of the Mumbai Indians squad back in 2023, but the Indian pacer missed that season as he himself underwent surgery on the back. Green said Bumrah's message and performances after getting surgery filled him with confidence. 'To get someone like him to reach out and then to watch him during the summer, to see how good he is obviously post-surgery, filled me with a lot of confidence,' Green said.'At the two-week mark after surgery, I was in the gym moving around. It was incredible.'Green is expected to be back in the Australia playing XI for the WTC final against South Africa. Must Watch

Shubman Gill and Yashasvi Jaiswal Former Indian cricketers offered advice to the Shubman Gill-led Indian cricket team for their upcoming five-Test series in England, with Michael Vaughan suggesting this tour could mark "something special" for the visitors. The guidance comes as India undergoes a transition phase following the retirements of Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli, and Ravichandran Ashwin, while Mohammed Shami was not selected for the touring squad. Cheteshwar Pujara emphasized the importance of adapting to English conditions for success. "India's team to England must adapt quickly and play (according) to the conditions. As someone who understands batting in English conditions and team dynamics, I believe discipline, patience and support for each other are crucial. Every player will need to contribute and respect the challenges that lay ahead. I am sure this tour will be a great opportunity for the growth and success of each player and the team as a whole," Pujara told Sony Sports, the official broadcaster. Gautam Gambhir sends stern message after Bengaluru tragedy Irfan Pathan , former India all-rounder, stressed the importance of quick adaptation for the team's success. "India's new squad faces a tough challenge in England, but as an all-rounder, I know adaptability is key. Gill's leadership, Pant's energy, and India's young talent must step up. England's conditions test every skill — swing, seam, and temperament. If India's players adapt quickly and stay united, they can surprise England, just as we've seen in the past with new teams rising to the occasion." Quiz: Who's that IPL player? Michael Vaughan, former England captain, spoke about India's decision to appoint 25-year-old Gill as Test captain. "Well, it's official — Shubman Gill is the new face of Indian Test cricket, stepping up as captain for the England series. It's a bold move, trusting a young leader with a new-look team after the retirements of giants like Rohit and Kohli. Gill has got plenty to prove, especially away from home, but he has shown (that) he has got the temperament for big moments. With Rishabh Pant as his deputy and a squad hungry to make their mark, this England tour could be the start of something special for India's next generation. Don't be surprised if these youngsters rise to the occasion."
