St Tropez has launched a fake tan and bronzing drops hybrid – here's my review

Independent27-02-2025
While some relegate their body fake tan to the back of the bathroom cabinet come winter, a facial tanner remains a year-round essential for most. These glow-getting formulas give you post-holiday radiance, despite being bundled up in knitwear.
Whether it's a cream from the likes of Tan Luxe or Isle of Paradise's cult drops (designed to be mixed with your moisturiser), there are plenty of products promising to achieve an effortless sun-kissed glow.
But, when it comes to an instant pick-me-up, tints and bronzing drops are an increasingly popular choice. The craze began with Drunk Elephant's D-bronzi drops, which could barely stay in stock last year. Other brand's quickly followed, with Elf and Isle of Paradise's bronzing formulas becoming bestsellers for the respective brands.
Now, St Tropez has launched its own take. Founded in 1984, St Tropez is a leading brand in the beauty world. Chances are every fake tan fan has dabbled with one of its formula over the years, whether it's the flagship mousse or gradual lotion.
For the brand's latest launch, it has created a hybrid bronzing drops and fake tan formula that gives skin an immediate glow, but develops into a deeper tan over three hours. In short, it claims to offer the best of both worlds.
How we tested
A self-proclaimed fake tan obsessive (I fake tan every Wednesday, year-round, come rain or shine), I had to try the new St Tropez formula. I wanted to see how it compares to Drunk Elephant's D-bronzi drops, which I use every morning. Testing the immediate glow the sunlit tint offers, I also assessed how nicely it developed throughout the day. Plus, I considered ease-of-application, how the formula looked and felt on my skin, and the benefits of the new contouring tan brush (£20, Boots.com), which the brand recommends using to help apply the tint. Here's my verdict.
Why you can trust us
Benefit and Jones Road make-up to Refy skincare, I've reviewed countless products and will always offer honest opinions, to help you find the formulas worth buying.

Romeo Beckham gives an insight into family holiday to St Tropez after his brother Brooklyn snubbed them from his vow renewal with Nicola Peltz

Romeo Beckham gave an insight into his family's summertime jaunt to St Tropez on Wednesday as he shared photos from their yacht. Elsewhere, his brother Brooklyn, 26, and his wife Nicola Peltz, 31, said 'I do' for a second time on August 2 in Westchester County in front of her family, with the Beckham clan nowhere in sight amid their ongoing 'feud'. Romeo, 22, joined his parents David, 50, and Victoria, 51, on the trip as well as siblings Harper, 14, and Cruz, 20, with Brooklyn the only Beckham child not present. He did however, spend the week before in the same location with his wife Nicola and his in-laws, but left before the Beckhams arrived. In an update to Instagram, Romeo went shirtless as he kicked back on his parents boat and soaked up some sun. Other photos showed him enjoying a game of golf as he snapped a selfie in a buggy while driving round the range. Brooklyn and Nicola, who first wed in 2022, failed to invite any members of Brooklyn's family, with reports David and Victoria heartbreakingly found out about their big day after reading about it on a US website. It's a stark contrast to Nicola's family, who had key roles at the second wedding, with her father Nelson, 83, officiating, wearing her mother Claudia's, 70, vintage wedding gown and letting her parents take centre stage once again at the after party. Brooklyn's family has been in turmoil in recent months as it has been claimed he has become increasingly estranged from his parents after failing to attend any of his father David's 50th birthday celebrations in May. The lack of Beckham presence at Brooklyn's vow renewal is the latest sign Brooklyn and Nicola have washed their hands with his family - with many indications seemingly marking Brooklyn's intentions to quit Brand Beckham for good. The Beckhams were said to be upset by the Peltzes during Brooklyn and Nicola's first wedding in 2022, as they felt they were taking over the wedding. The two families have not reunited since and Nicola has rarely been pictured with the Beckhams. A clear sign Brooklyn and Nicola have washed their hands with his family is that fact that none of the Beckham's were invited to the low-key ceremony. A source told The Sun: 'This was the final kick in the teeth for David and Victoria. Seeing Nelson having such a pivotal role at the ceremony was heartbreaking for David especially. Not one member of the 30-plus extended family knew about the wedding, or were invited.' His brother Brooklyn and his wife Nicola Peltz said 'I do' for a second time on August 2 in Westchester County in front of her family, with the Beckham clan nowhere in sight The source added: 'His grandparents are devastated too as Brooklyn has always been so close to them.' 'It feels cruel and spiteful. This is no longer a game. It has gone beyond all that. This is a family who feel they have lost their precious boy - and see no way back. 'Honestly, they are now questioning why he even wants to keep the 'Beckham' surname - will he revert to Peltz? August 2nd 2025 - is this the day Brooklyn formally declared himself no longer a part of the Beckham family? It certainly feels like it.' Even at their butterfly-themed afterparty, it appears not one of Brooklyn's childhood friends and family was in attendance - making for a glaring signal that Brooklyn has quit both his family and former life altogether. Daily Mail contacted Brooklyn, Nicola and the Beckhams' representatives for comment at the time. Brooklyn's family's feelings towards their vow renewal could suggest why none of his relatives were on the invite list. However, Victoria, David and their children Romeo, Cruz, and Harper, were said to have only found out about Brooklyn's big day after reading about it on a US website.

Brooklyn Beckham's NEW inner circle unveiled at vow renewal... as he turns his back on family and friends in favour of wife Nicola Peltz's brothers, glam squad and acting pals

Brooklyn Beckham and Nicola's Peltz's vow renewal was a glamorous affair packed with family, fashion and friends earlier this month. Yet as more pictures of both the big day and the after-party come to light, it is becoming increasingly more apparent that the festivities were fairly one-sided - with most of the guestlist comprising Brooklyn's post-Nicola peers and pals. The most glaring absence came from Brooklyn's family - mum Victoria, 51, dad David, 50, brothers Romeo, 22, Cruz, 20 and his sister Harper, 14 - due to the ongoing feud rumbling among the group, who were not informed of the vow renewal. While his family are holidaying in St Tropez, Brooklyn partied the night away at his wife's family's estate in Westchester County on August 2, with Nicola's family, members of her glam squad, her acting coach and fellow actors. Absent were former members of Brooklyn's entourage - including fellow nepobabies Rocco Richie and Gordon Ramsay 's brood, his brother Romeo's girlfriend Kim Turnbull and yet more superstar offspring in Anais Gallagher. The lack of Brooklyn's side sparked widespread chat on social media, including comments from fans who likened their relationship to that of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle - after the royal turned his back on his family and moved to the US. When Brooklyn and Nicola first tied the knot in 2022, they hosted a three-day Palm Beach extravaganza, which saw 500 guests party in no-expense-spared marquees in front of the ocean - where both families stood front and centre. Fast- forward three years and the change is remarkable, with no sign of the Beckham parents or the siblings Brooklyn held so close to his heart. In their place is the entirety of the Peltz clan - with Nicola's mother Claudia, 70, and her father Nelson, 83, holding all-star roles on the day. At the 2022 festivities, during the Hora - also known as the Jewish wedding chair dance - where the bride and groom are lifted on chairs while guests dance around them in a circle, David was also lifted up on a seat. Brooklyn's brothers acted as his Dior-clad groomsmen at the event although their positions have officially been occupied by the in-laws. Nicola has six brothers, all of whom Brooklyn is fond however he is very close to her brother Diesel, who introduced him to his bride. As well as swapping siblings, it has also been revealed that Brooklyn has shunned some of his old friends - as illustrated by his wedding pictures. Nicola has grown up surrounded by the support of her six brothers, and previously revealed that it was actually her sibling Diesel who introduced her to Brooklyn (the couple are pictured with Nicola's brother Will in 2022) Sources close to the Beckhams previously stated that they have concern that Nicola holds disproportionate sway in her marriage to their son. They said: 'They think Nicola is a bit of a horror but she isn't going anywhere anytime soon. Nicola loves having Brooklyn at her side and she loves him very much. But he is also very useful. 'The wider Beckham family and Brooklyn's friends – many of whom he no longer sees – take the view that he does what Nicola wants. From Beckhams' point of view, it's not nice to watch.' One group shot from the wedding featured a host of guests seemingly known only to Brooklyn via his wife, thanks to their presence in the acting and beauty worlds. One playful shot gave a glimpse into the guestlist, including real estate agent Anthony Barillo, creative branding agency owner Dominic J West, make-up artist Georgi Sandev, 'colourist to the stars' Daniel Moon and Benny Buckley. Creative director and photographer Hunter Moreno, designer Eran Shapov and Ariel Shapov were also in the picture. Nicola has grown up surrounded by the support of her six brothers, and she previously revealed that it was actually her sibling Diesel who introduced her to Brooklyn. 'I actually met Brooklyn like six years ago at Coachella, through one of my brothers; his name is Diesel,' the actress revealed in an interview with Wonderland Magazine in 2022. She recalled how the now-married couple were both with other partners at the time, admitting: 'We really didn't get along. He had a girlfriend and I had a boyfriend, and we just didn't click at all.' 'Diesel was like, "Oh my friend Brooklyn wants to crash at our house", because all my brothers rented a house for Coachella. We barely interacted. We look back at pictures, like group pictures, and I'm with my boyfriend and Brooklyn's in the corner.'

Baldur's Gate 3 gets an official expansion for Dungeons & Dragons

The Dungeons & Dragons tabletop game is getting its own Baldur's Gate 3 DLC, all about a certain fan favourite vampire. While Larian Studios continued to support Baldur's Gate 3 with some meaty post-launch patches, there never was, and never will be, a proper DLC expansion, as the game is effectively abandoned. Hasbro and Wizards of the Coast, however, are fully aware of Baldur's Gate 3's popularity and are not going to want that cash cow to dry up, which is why they're planning to partner with a new, currently unnamed, studio for the inevitable Baldur's Gate 4. They also appear eager to use Baldur's Gate 3's success to draw more people into Dungeons & Dragons (the tabletop role-playing game Baldur's Gate 3 is based on) as evidenced by what, on paper, is essentially Baldur's Gate 3 DLC. For context, two new D&D books – Forgotten Realms: Heroes Of Faerûn and Forgotten Realms: Adventures In Faerûn – have been announced and they offer a bevy of new content, like new subclasses and new items. The books will launch on November 11 and currently cost $59.99 (about £45) and $74.99 (about £55), respectively, but there is of course a more expensive Ultimate Bundle for $159.99 (about £119) that throws in several extras. One of those extras, as explained on D&D Beyond, is a digital expansion called Astarion's Book Of Hungers and, as you can probably guess, is centred around everyone's favourite vampire party member from Baldur's Gate 3. Sign up to the GameCentral newsletter for a unique take on the week in gaming, alongside the latest reviews and more. Delivered to your inbox every Saturday morning. Aside from offering new pre-built D&D adventures that let you team up with Astarion before the events of Baldur's Gate 3 (complete with some new backstory for his favourite tavern), the expansion will come with new options for building vampire characters. The Ultimate Bundle also comes with two other digital expansions but it sounds like all three will be available as separate purchases, since individual prices are listed for them. More Trending So, if you're an Astarion fan and don't care about any of the other additions, you can simply fork over $14.99 (about £11) for his expansion when it arrives on November 11. Considering Baldur's Gate 4 is likely many years away, it wouldn't be surprising if Hasbro and Wizards of the Coast released more cross-promotional material like this, both to placate starving fans and attract new ones who may have exhausted themselves on Baldur's Gate 3. Although with how stuffed Baldur's Gate 3 is, especially after all the patches, it's hard to imagine you'll ever run out of things to do. Thanks to mods, it is entirely possible to craft your own custom campaigns (such as this one dubbed Path To Menzoberranzan that's in development), although such campaigns aren't supported by Larian's official mod toolkit for Baldur's Gate 3.
