'I'm stocking up on my favourite streak-free fake tan this Prime Day'
As a shopping writer I've tried out a lot of fake tans, but this Isle of Paradise one is so good I'm stocking up on multiple while it's in the Prime Day sale As a naturally pale girl achieving a natural tan can be quite the challenge. It requires hours of sunbathing and given the UK's notorious lack of sunshine, coupled with the risk of skin damage, it's just not worth the hassle for me. However, I still like to have that 'I just got back from holiday glow', and after having tried many different fake tans over the years, I always come back to one. The tan in question is the Isle of Paradise Express Self-Tanning Mousse. And as Amazon Prime Day(s) has officially kicked off, I'm taking it as my opportunity to stock up for the rest of year. Originally priced at £21.95, this mousse is now 35% off, bringing its price down to a slightly more wallet-friendly £14.49. It's not very often I spot this particular fake tan on offer on Amazon, so I'm very happy to see it in the sale. I'm not much of a planner, often leaving important details, like fake tanning for an event, to the last minute so an express tan is a must-have for me, and I think this one is the best. I do have other favourites such as St Tropez's Express Bronzing Mousse, currently £25.50 at LookFantastic, and Loving Tan's 2HR Express Mousse, priced at £36.95. However Isle of Paradise's comes out on top for me. Developing in as little as 30 minutes, this tan is ideal if you're short on time but still want that holiday glow. The formula dries almost instantly, so there's no sticky and awkward waiting-around moment or stained clothes. It's also packed full of hydrating hyaluronic acid and brightening vitamin C so it leaves the skin feeling soft and nourished. On top of that, it uses clever colour-correcting tech to avoid any dreaded tangerine tones, resulting in a natural-looking and streak-free tan that will have your friends asking if you've just got back from a tropical holiday. The only issue I sometimes find with this tanner is that the pump can become faulty, resulting in the product coming out too liquidy rather than as a mousse. Little-known tanning brand beauty editors swear by gives the most natural glow
We've hit upon a gorgeous tan brand that's a favourite amongst beauty industry insiders. We tried its facial tanning drops and loved the natural-looking result they gave I'm no stranger to fake tanning, with Isle of Paradise and Bare by Vogue being two of my favourites, but recently I'd been seeing a lot about a range of tans that admittedly I hadn't heard of before: Three Warriors. A bit of digging later and I realised why it was on my radar: it's the brand of choice for James Harknett, the tan expert behind many a celebrity's golden glow, and the go-to for beauty editors ahead of their weddings. Keen to see if the Three Warriors products could give me a similar type of luxe, natural bronze, I put Three Warriors' Hydrabronze Tan Drops, £38 – a serum that's to be mixed into your skincare serum or moisturiser, and my favourite way to tan my face – to the test, and I think I can see why it's such a favourite... First up, a look at the ingredients list of Hydrabronze Tan Drops should let you know that it's going to be good; it's high in skincare ingredients such as hydrolysed collagen, hyaluronic acid and niacinamide. The instructions state to add 2-4 drops to your moisturiser – I went for four drops, which was definitely a good shout, as even this maximum amount gave quite a subtle colour with the Light To Medium shade I picked (there's also a Medium To Dark). It mixed in really well with my favourite moisturiser, glided really evenly onto the skin, and dried quickly (don't forget to wash your hands!). The next morning, I was so happy with the resulting colour – natural, even and non-orange, with the difference not so striking that people will know that you've fake tanned the night before (think healthy weekend in the sun rather than three weeks in the Caribbean). If I was after slightly deeper colour, however, I'd be tempted to try the Medium To Dark shade, or else go back to my favourite Isle of Paradise Face Tanning Drops in Medium, currently £14.24. Isle of Paradise also makes one of my favourite tans for the body: Glow Clear Self-Tanning Mousse, also in the shade Medium, and currently reduced to £15.96. It's easy to apply with a mitt, although being clear with no guide colour, you do have to be diligent about blending it in well, especially around drier areas such as the knees, elbows, hands and feet (I like to apply a rich body cream in these spots first, and then once again after applying the tan). However as it's transparent, it doesn't transfer onto clothing or bedding – a major plus in my eyes. It makes my limbs look a very natural shade of golden, with any lingering greyness, redness or imperfections minimised. I felt really confident wearing my summery shorts and dresses while away on holiday recently, and not like some ghostly pale Brit who spends most of her life indoors.

I wear Drunk Elephant's £35 bronzing drops every day – but is this £3.95 alternative better?
Bronzing drops are my go-to for giving skin a sun-kissed glow with minimal effort. Unlike semi-permanent facial tanners, these instant formulas can be built up for your desired shade before being washed off at the end of the day (perfect for fake tan commitment-phobes). Drunk Elephant's D-bronzi drops are responsible for the craze, but all the biggest brands have launched alternatives in the last year, from Isle of Paradise's sunny serum to Elf's bronzing drops. Boasting a serum-like consistency, these formulas are packed with skincare benefits to hydrate and smooth skin. Quick and easy to apply (use a brush just like you would a foundation), they act as a priming layer beneath make-up but also double up as a liquid bronzer when applied as cheek contour. Versatile and fuss-free, bronzing drops are my secret to a year-round tan. I've tried dozens of formulas – including Jones Road and Revolution's takes – but I always return to Drunk Elephant's cult product. My only gripe? The price. A tiny 30ml tube will set you back £34. So, when I saw Essence had launched a £3.95 alternative, I had to try it out in time for summer. The budget buy is powered by glycerin and vitamins to hydrate the skin while brushing it with a sun-kissed glow. Taking evident inspiration from Drunk Elephant, even the white tube and golden brown lid look the same. How we tested I applied Essence's new bronzing drops just like I do Drunk Elephant's, using a brush to buff the product evenly across my face with a little extra of the formula around my cheekbones. Considering how easily it glided onto my skin, the look and feel of the formula and how long-lasting it was, here's my verdict on Essence's drop of sunshine bronzing drops.

Fake tans our beauty team buys on repeat and swears by for lasting colour
From a gradual tanning butter that packs the pigment of a mousse but without the mess, to an instant spray with airbrushing effects, here are the tans our beauty team loves... Fake tans have come a long way from the streaky, orange disasters of the past. Nowadays, there's something to suit every skin tone, lifestyle and budget, whether you're after a subtle, buildable glow or a quick, punchy bronzed finish. Our beauty team has put a range of the best fake tans to the test, from wallet-friendly gradual tanners to luxe, clear mousses, so you don't have to waste time guessing which ones actually deliver. We're sharing the formulas we genuinely love and buy time and time again, all tried and tested to give a natural, radiant glow without any hassle, the dreaded fake tan smell or messy sheets. So, whether you're prepping for a holiday, topping up for an event or just want a faux glow this heatwave, these are the fake tans our Mirror beauty and shopping team swears by... Bali Body Gradual Tanning Butter Shop it for £17.99 on sale This tanning butter gently builds a sun-kissed tan while deeply nourishing your skin with rich moisturisers like shea butter and coconut oil. Head of beauty and fashion Zoe says: "This is a fake tan that smells nothing like one – no biscuit scent, just a summery undertone that is very pleasant. It doubles as a luxe body lotion too, packed with skin-loving ingredients like hyaluronic acid and shea butter that leave my post-sun skin feeling nourished. It's perfect if you're a tanning beginner because it's practically foolproof with no streaks or orange tones in sight. The subtle gold shimmer gives an instant glow, even while the tan develops, and it dries so quickly that I can get into my pyjamas five minutes later. Bonus: no stained sheets or towels. Isle of Paradise Glow Clear Self Tanning Mousse Shop it for £22 A clear mousse with a no-transfer formula to give a light, medium or dark tan while offering colour-correcting abilities. Beauty and wellness editor Laura says: "The transparent formula (I use the medium shade) means no transfer on clothes or bedding, which is a big win. Once developed, it gives a natural, golden glow that smooths out redness and imperfections, making me feel confident in summer clothes. It lasts impressively well too– still showing colour a week after my holiday. While it takes time to apply and develop, it's definitely my go-to for a reliable, natural tan before every trip." St. Tropez Gradual Tan Tinted Body Lotion Shop it for £18 A moisturising gradual tan that provides a soft, buildable sun-kissed glow while nourishing the skin. Senior shopping writer Faith says:"I don't use fake tan often, but when I do I tend to stick to ones that are heavy on the moisturiser. I typically have dry skin with patches of eczema, so a hydrating and moisturising one is essential for me to avoid it settling into those dry areas. I also want something that's quick and easy to use – no long times leaving it to develop, having to shower it off again. "That's why the St. Tropez Gradual Tan Tinted Body Lotion is definitely a go-to for me. It gives you an instantly tanned glow, and develops over time without needing to be washed off. The lotion is easy to blend (I use a tanning mitt) and I find it doesn't go streaky and dries quickly so there's minimal time spent standing around waiting around. It does have a green undertone which may not work for every skin tone, but I find this suits my skin's naturally red undertones as it neutralises the red, making it look more natural. The only down side is that if you get rained on, or spill something on your tan, it will become blotchy. However for those last minute tan top ups or a quick fix, this is a great go-to." Utan Cool Undertone Instant Airbrush Spray Shop it for £17.99 This wash-off tan gives your skin an instant, buildable bronzed glow while evening out tone, all with a fresh, non-fake tan scent. Shopping writer Grace says: "At first, I wasn't sure the colour would be rich enough for me since the initial spritz was very sheer. But the beauty of this product is how quickly it dries, making it super easy to build up for a more bronzed look. It behaves more like body make-up than a traditional fake tan, so it's brilliant for evening out skin tone and giving a subtle glow without going full-on mahogany. If you're after a deep, dramatic tan, this probably won't hit the mark – but for last-minute plans or a quick confidence boost, it's ideal. I'm a bit hopeless at remembering to fake tan in advance, so this handy little spray has earned a permanent place in my handbag. And the scent? Think warm vanilla and tonka, not that usual biscuit-y smell. Loving Tan 2 HR Express Mousse Shop it for £29.56 on sale Article continues below This fast-working mousse delivers a natural, olive-toned tan in just two hours, thanks to its quick-drying formula and colour guide technology. Shopping writer Meghan says:"Applying this tanning mousse is as easy as using my usual moisturiser – the only tricky bit is my back, but with a bit of help, it takes under 30 minutes. I start with the two-hour guide for a subtle glow, but when I leave it on overnight, I wake up looking like I've just got back from the Med. It dries quickly, doesn't transfer to bedding, and the aloe vera base keeps my skin hydrated without clinging to dry patches. The result is a natural-looking, olive-toned tan that works beautifully on my pale skin. The mitt does slip a little on smaller hands, but it's a small gripe in an otherwise seamless tanning routine.

5 Foolproof Ways To Fix Streaky Self-Tanner
Every item on this page was chosen by an ELLE editor. We may earn commission on some of the items you choose to buy. It's no secret that self-tanning can sometimes go terribly, terribly wrong. Sometimes it ends up too dark, extremely orange, or streaky, and you need a quick fix. Or maybe there's extra buildup around the knees, ankles, and fingers—spots notorious for screaming, 'THIS IS A FAKE TAN!' But with a few tips and tricks, you can fix those messy spots or start over when things have gone completely awry. Whether you're looking to immediately remove the self-tan after applying, you have a few days to let it wear off, or you need to get if off your face ASAP, we have you covered. And if you're looking for a new, trusted self-tanner, check out some of our faves. Here, find 9 products to help fade your self-tan in no time, with input from Sophie Evans, St. Tropez skin finishing expert and celebrity self-tanner; Jules Von Hep, Isle of Paradise founder and celebrity tanning expert; and Alexandra DiMarchi, Tan-Luxe global tanning expert. When it comes to self-tanning, St. Tropez is a tried and true brand. After leaving this mousse on for just five minutes, your tan will disappear, whether you just applied it or it's a week old. This product is so gentle, you will be primed and ready for your next tan with no down time. For best results, scrub the product away in the shower with a mitt or exfoliator. 'The Prep and Maintain Tan Remover Mousse from St. Tropez will not only detox your skin with the help of bicarbonate soda, urea, and cotton extract, but it will also make your skin the perfect PH balance ready for a fresh new coat of self-tan,' says Evans. This aloe-infused product is great at quickly fading a lingering tan. Reviewers suggest leaving on for between 10 and 15 minutes, a bit longer than the brand's five minute recommendation. When showering, make sure to scrub the product off with a mitt or loofah to ensure the tan is evenly removed. No matter what product you are using to remove your tan, the St. Tropez Tan Removal Mitt will always be your trusty sidekick. After using your removal product of choice, buff wet skin with the mitt to make sure all of the unwanted tan is removed. If you've noticed extra dark spots of tan on your palms or between your fingers, dampen the area and scrub away with the mitt. Since the mitt is also exfoliating dead skin, make sure to hydrate afterwards to nourish the moisture barrier. This will leave your skin baby smooth and prepped for your next self-tanning session. While this product isn't specifically geared towards tan removal, it's exactly what you need to get off that slightly orange tint that just won't go away. The skin on your face is much more delicate than the skin on your body, so it is important to use a gentle product. Because the skin on the face has such a high cell turnover, the self tan will likely only last a few days, but this product will expedite the process. This AHA exfoliant will not only remove the tan but will brighten the skin and diminish dark spots. For a no-scrub removal, 'Just mist all over skin until totally saturated, lather, and leave for five minutes. Then, just wash off in the shower, buffing skin gently until the tan is fully removed,' says Von Hep. The formula includes glycolic acid which works to exfoliate away your tan, but it's also filled with avocado, coconut, and chia seed oils that help to hydrate sensitive skin. 'Exfoliating is the best way to get rid of an old tan,' says DiMarchi. There are several products on the market that help dissolve self-tanner, but using a body scrub or exfoliating mitt is the key to removing all of the pigment. Plus, it'll leave your skin extra smooth and prepped for your next tanning sesh. Oils can also help to remove tanner, while hydrating and plumping the skin at the same time. But be careful to not let the oil sit on your skin for longer than five minutes, because it can make the tan set in even more. Nope! 'Just make sure the remover products are fully rinsed off before applying a fresh layer of self-tan,' says Von Hep. However, if the specific tanner you use suggests waiting up to 24 hours, Evans recommends you do so in order to avoid any irritation. Lastly, always remember to moisturize after applying a fresh tan. Yes, but you should definitely use a different technique on your face than your body. The skin on your face is much more sensitive and has a higher cell turnover rate. In fact, your self-tan will likely only last two to four days on your face. 'Generally, to correct a bad face self-tan all you need is to exfoliate well with an exfoliating wipe, mitt, or device to lift off the self-tan or use a good AHA product,' Evans explains. If you're looking to expedite the process, gentle facial scrubs, AHA's, and exfoliating tools should be your go to's to buff away a face tan. And of course, slather your face in moisturizer afterwards.
