Anupamaa AKA Rupali Ganguly Welcomes Tulsi AKA Smriti Irani Ahead Of Kyunki's Premiere

Rupali Ganguly welcomes Smriti Irani in a new promo ahead of Kyunki's premiere. The heartfelt video call has fans nostalgic and excited for the show's big return.
The clock is ticking, and Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi reboot is all set to premiere today at 10:30 PM. While netizens have already been comparing the show with the popular daily soap Anupamaa, the new promo has left social media buzzing as it features two of TV's icons, Smriti Irani as Tulsi and Rupali Ganguly as Anupamaa, chatting over a video call.
Today, ahead of the show's grand premiere, StarPlus dropped a new promo featuring a video call between Anupamaa and Tulsi. In the call, Anupamaa can be seen talking about Tulsi's return, to which she replies, 'Wapis kaise na aati, apno ke beech, apne parivaar ke beech." (How can I not return to my people, to my family?)
Anupamaa then welcomes Tulsi with a warm smile, saying, 'Welcome back to the family, Tulsi ji." She adds, 'Mere pure Anupamaa parivaar ko Kyunki parivaar ka besabri se intezaar rahega." (My Anupamaa family will eagerly wait for the Kyunki family.)
Meanwhile, addressing the growing online buzz surrounding the supposed tension between the two shows, Ektaa Kapoor, the producer of Smriti Irani's show, shared, 'Yesterday I was seeing some videos of Anupamaa having a problem as Kyunki is coming. I felt that was in such bad taste. She [Rupali] is such a big star. Anupamaa, the show, the creator Rajan… has done what nobody else could do in the last seven years. They will continue to be number 1. They should continue to be number 1."
'We are coming in for our purpose — to tell our story. These unfair comparisons between lead characters and lead shows are so unnecessary. Pitting women against each other, pitting content against each other, is so uncalled for," Ektaa concluded.
For context, Anupamaa, created by Rajan Shahi, has been a dominant force on Indian television. It gave Rupali Ganguly a huge comeback and has struck a chord with audiences through its focus on family conflicts, generational shifts, and the realities of adult relationships.
On the other hand, Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi needs no introduction. The original series, produced by Ektaa under Balaji Telefilms, ran for more than eight years and over 1,800 episodes, becoming one of the most iconic Indian serials of its time.
Now, the much-anticipated reboot is all set to air from 29 July at 10:30 PM on Star Plus and JioCinema.

In response, Aneet penned an emotional note, stating that she had the biggest smile on her face and tears in her eyes, as she watched the lovely video. She expressed her hope that she's making her school proud—not just with her work, but with the person she's becoming. The video features nostalgic throwback photos of Aneet from school events, including annual functions and other memorable moments. The Saiyaara actress wrote, 'I don't even know how to put this into words. Watching this, I just sat there with the biggest smile on my face and tears in my eyes. Dales is where I've grown up, where I've learnt how to dream big, where people believed in me long before I even had the courage to believe in myself. To see my teachers, my mentors, and even the students come together to make something this beautiful is overwhelming in the best way." She further added, 'Every time I step onto a set now, there's a part of me that's still that little girl in a Springdale uniform, sitting in class, daydreaming about this exact life. And I know I wouldn't be here without the people who taught me, guided me, and loved me through every phase of growing up. I hope I make you proud, not just with the film, but with who I'm becoming. I can't wait to come back, and just say thank you to each of you, properly, face to face. You've given me so much more than an education, you've given me a piece of myself I'll never lose. Thank you for seeing me, for cheering for me, and for reminding me that no matter how far I go, I'll always have a home to come back to." Aneet Padda's alma matar posted the video on Instagram with a caption that read, 'From Spring Dale Senior School to the Silver Screen — A Star is Born. We are immensely proud to celebrate the success of our distinguished alumna, Aneet Padda, who has delivered a compelling lead performance in Saiyaara, a major cinematic release by Yash Raj Films."
