Ranchi: The ruling coalition alliance in Jharkhand on Tuesday demanded that the Narendra Modi-led govt at the Centre come clean before the nation on the circumstances leading to the sudden and premature resignation of Jagdeep Dhankhar from the post of Vice-President on Monday, the beginning of the Monsoon Session of Parliament.
Hitting out at BJP, the JMM-Congress-RJD gathbandhan govt alleged that the development was no less than a direct attack on Parliament and its virtues.
BJP has, however, remained silent over the issue.
JMM central general secretary Supriyo Bhattacharjee said, "BJP must answer why he (Dhankhar) was made to resign?"
He said as Parliament's session began from Monday, it was natural for everyone to expect that the discussion should be on the Army's valour and the Operation Sindoor that brought Pakistan to its knees would be the biggest priority of the govt.
"However, the govt wanted discussions on privatisation of ports as it is eager to sell them to Modiji's friend (the Adani group). As the custodian of the Rajya Sabha and a true leader from the Jat community, Dhankhar ji wanted to hold a discussion on Op Sindoor. But as BJP president and Rajya Sabha MP J P Nadda was forcing him on the floor of the house to only take his comments on record and not those of others from the Opposition camp, this led to chaos in the house," he added.
"For the first time in history, govt MPs boycotted the business advisory committee meet convened by Dhankhar. In the night, he suddenly tendered resignations to resolve the issues. BJP needs to answer to these allegations," he further said.
Congress's state spokesperson Rakesh Sinha added that everyone respects Dhankharji if his resignation was genuinely related to his health concerns. "But the truth is that there are deeper reasons than a health cover up.
PM and his party must answer to the nation with these reasons," he added.
RJD's state general secretary and media in-charge Kailash Yadav added, "This is another testimony to Modi govt's attempts to thwart all democratic institutions, including Parliament now."
Opposition BJP here, however, maintained a strategic silence.
A spokesperson said, "Dhankhar ji has already said that he is stepping down due to health concerns. The President of India has approved it, and the PM has issued a statement praying for his good health."

Adbhut! Avishwasniya!: Delhis Infamous Minto Bridge Underpass Stays Clear Amidst Heavy Rains, X Cant Handle It

In a unique scene that took Delhiites by surprise and social media into tizzy, the infamous waterlogged Minto Bridge underpass witnessed free flowing traffic during Wednesday morning, even as heavy rain pounded the national capital. The 90-year-old railway underbridge has long been synonymous with torrential waterlogging during monsoon months, which has continued since India's independence. The Minto Bridge, placed strategically where Deen Dayal Upadhyaya (DDU) Marg meets Swami Vivekananda Marg, is an integral artery that connects Connaught Place, New Delhi Railway Station, Old Delhi, and Darya Ganj. Its vulnerability to flooding has been a commuters' nightmare for long. #WATCH | Delhi: Latest visuals from Minto Bridge; traffic running smoothly. The national capital received heavy rainfall this morning. — ANI (@ANI) July 23, 2025 But a video uploaded by news agency ANI on Wednesday morning presented a very different picture: cars plying effortlessly under the underpass with no signs of waterlogging in sight. "Latest visuals from Minto Bridge; traffic flowing smoothly. The national capital was lashed with heavy rain this morning," read the caption accompanying the video. The sudden turn of events soon attracted responses on all social media networks, with most calling it a "miracle at Minto Bridge." Amit Malviya of BJP attributed the turnaround to the new Delhi BJP government under the leadership of Chief Minister Rekha Gupta. "Even after heavy rain, vehicles passed smoothly over Minto Bridge, which used to get flooded with even a drizzle. That's the difference Delhi is seeing in just a few months under the BJP government!" Malviya tweeted. X user Monica Jasuja shared the same sentiment, saying in amazement, "Breaking: Minto Bridge navigates Delhi rains without becoming a swimming pool! Adbhut! Avishwasniya! Akalpaniya! (Amazing! Unbelievable! Unimaginable!)". Breaking: Minto Bridge survives Delhi rains without turning into a swimming pool! Adbhut! Avishwasniya! Akalpaniya! 90 years of "underwater bridge experience" finally ends. Turns out all it needed was some actual drain cleaning, not underwater engineering! New government… — Monica Jasuja (@jasuja) July 23, 2025 While some rejoiced at the miracle, others argued over whether that kind of success should be held newsworthy. "Anything functioning normally in this country is such an anomaly that it warrants a celebration," one X user wrote. Another said, "One of the busiest roads in the most significant borough of the capital country not waterlogged because of rain is news in this country." Alternatively, other users provided compliments for the efforts of the present government. "You know the govt has done a great job when Minto bridge has no rain water surrounded with less traffic. Mass respect and W for Rekha Gupta," wrote another user. Smita Barooah, considering the difficulty, wrote, "The Delhi government has been working on cleaning the drains on a war footing.". In spite of the gigantic pendency & since they've been in power for less than 6 months, much has been accomplished. Of course much more is yet to be done. Minto Bridge remaining open during the monsoons is a sign of good progress. The Minto Bridge has been an evergreen problem for civic officials in the past, with attempts over decades to address its waterlogging problems. The Public Works Department (PWD) has taken numerous steps over the years, ranging from the installation of pumps to the laying of new drainage lines. This latest example of the underpass staying dry even as heavy rains lashed the city indicates that all efforts made recently may be paying off, providing a ray of hope for Delhi's monsoons.

'Stopped India-Pakistan Nuclear War': Trump's Explosive Claim, Repeats 'Five Jets Were Shot Down' US President Donald Trump has once again claimed that five fighter jets were shot down during the India-Pakistan conflict following the April 2025 Pahalgam terror attack. Trump also claimed that he personally intervened to stop a potential nuclear war between the two nations, using trade leverage. However, his comments have stirred controversy in India, especially as he did not clarify which side lost jets, nor did he provide any evidence. India had earlier confirmed that Operation Sindoor was a targeted, non-escalatory strike on terror camps in PoK. Trump's repeated claims, now adding a dramatic jet loss tally, raise questions about foreign intervention, disinformation, and global narratives.
