Rahul Gandhi's convoy hits cop during Voter Adhikar Yatra in Bihar; BJP-Congress trade barbs
Nawada SP Abhinav Dhiman was quoted as saying by PTI that the constable tripped and fell in front of the convoy, which 'barely brushed against his feet.' 'It was not that the constable got run over by the vehicle. He will undergo an X-ray, which will reveal the exact condition of the injured leg. But on a cursory glance, it looks like nothing more than a minor injury,' the SP told PTI.
While the Congress MP has been hitting out at the BJP and the Election Commission over the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls in Bihar, BJP spokesperson Shehzad Poonawalla was quick to slam the yatra and the 55-year-old leader over the incident.
Sharing the clip on social media, Poonawalla alleged that the Congress convoy 'crushed' the police constable. 'The Voter Adhikar Yatra has become Crush Janta Yatra,' Poonawalla claimed. 'Rahul Gandhi's car crushed a police constable who was critically injured. The dynast did not even step out to check on him,' he added.
The video showed Rahul Gandhi and other Opposition leaders on the moving convoy. As the jeep passed through the crowd, the cop is seen falling in front of the vehicle, and people are seen helping him out. Rahul Gandhi is seen inquiring about his health and urging him to enter the jeep.

In response to Poonawalla's charge, Bihar Congress spokesperson Asith Nath Tiwary told PTI, 'All BJP leaders, including even those at the very top, are known for peddling lies. The party is rattled by the success of the yatra, which is why it has asked its spokespersons to spread rumors.'
The march, which began in Sasaram on Sunday, has been held amid intensified protests against the Election Commission's Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls in Bihar. The yatra, which will also pass through Nalanda, Sheikhpura, Lakhisarai, Munger, Bhagalpur, Katihar, Purnea, Araria, Supaul, Madhubani, Darbhanga, Sitamarhi, East Champaran, West Champaran, Gopalganj, Siwan, Chhapra, and Ara, is scheduled to conclude with a rally in Patna on September 1.

What happened in Parliament would bring shame to any civilised society: BJP on Trinamool MPs tearing, throwing Bills at HM
New Delhi: A major uproar broke out in the Lok Sabha on Wednesday after Opposition MPs, including members of the Trinamool Congress, tore and hurled copies of three key bills towards Union Home Minister Amit Shah while he was introducing them. The BJP has strongly condemned the incident, calling it a 'shameful act that would bring disgrace to any civilised society.' BJP MP and actor-turned-politician Kangana Ranaut said the Opposition's conduct had crossed all limits of parliamentary propriety. 'What we witnessed in Parliament today is something that would bring shame to any civilised society. When our Home Minister Amit Shah was proposing a bill, Opposition leaders tried to snatch away his microphone. Worse still, they tore the bill and threw it at his face. Some even came with stones and hurled them. But our party showed patience,' she added. BJP MP Aparajita Sarangi termed the behaviour 'truly unfortunate.' 'Opposition members created a ruckus from their seats and then crossed every line of decorum. Several women MPs and TMC members attempted to attack the Home Minister. They tore copies of the bill and hurled them in his direction. This was not dissent—it was an attack,' she said. BJP MP Bansuri Swaraj also described the scenes as 'nothing less than the murder of democracy.' 'Trinamool Congress MPs, particularly one of their women MPs, tried to snatch the microphone, tore pages, and threw them in the House. This act has embarrassed the voters, the public, and the very spirit of democracy. The BJP strongly condemns such behaviour," she told IANS. BJP leader Annpurna Devi also denounced the incident. 'The entire country is watching. The conduct displayed today, especially by Trinamool Congress members, was extremely inappropriate. Even senior and respected MPs behaved in this unruly manner when the Home Minister was presenting the Bill. The Opposition claims ruling party MPs also attacked them, but that is false. We were only standing, not attacking. What they did was against every norm of parliamentary decorum,' she said. The chaos unfolded as Union Home Minister Amit Shah tabled the Constitution (One Hundred and Thirtieth Amendment) Bill, 2025, the Government of Union Territories (Amendment) Bill, 2025, and amendments to the Jammu and Kashmir Reorganisation Act, 2019. The first bill seeks automatic removal of Prime Ministers, Chief Ministers, and Union Ministers facing corruption or serious criminal charges if held for 30 consecutive days. Opposition MPs strongly opposed the move, tearing copies of the bills and shouting slogans. Amid the ruckus, Amit Shah proposed that the bills be referred to a Joint Committee of Parliament for further examination.

ED arrests head of banned Maoist outfit PLFI in Jharkhand
Agency: Last Updated: New Delhi, Aug 20 (PTI) The Enforcement Directorate (ED) on Wednesday said it has arrested the supremo of the banned Maoist outfit People's Liberation Front of India (PLFI) in Jharkhand as part of a money laundering investigation. Dinesh Gope was taken into custody from the Central Jail in Palamu district of the state where he was lodged in a case lodged by the Jharkhand Police and the National Investigation Agency (NIA). 'Following his arrest, Gope was produced via video conferencing before the Hon'ble special court (PMLA), Ranchi, which has remanded him to judicial custody for 14 days," the federal probe agency said in a statement. The money laundering case stems from the FIRs of the state police and the NIA which had booked and filed chargesheet against Gope on charges of murder, attempt to murder, extortion and for criminal activities under the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act. 'Gope, in his capacity as the head of PLFI, was running an extensive and organised extortion racket. 'He was instrumental in the forcible collection of illegal levy from contractors, businessmen, coal traders and transporters operating in Jharkhand and adjoining states, generating proceeds of crime estimated to be about Rs 20 crore," the ED said. This money was then 'systematically" laundered through a 'complex" network of shell companies and firms, it alleged. The agency said these entities were established in the names of Gope's two wives and associates with the 'specific" intent to 'conceal" the illicit origin of the funds. The funds were utilised to finance the operational activities of the PLFI, procure sophisticated arms and ammunition, and acquire numerous movable and immovable properties, the ED alleged.
