Jahri Evans is a busy man. The New Orleans Saints assistant offensive line coach is working at the Senior Bowl this week, and next week he'll learn whether or not he's going into the Pro Football Hall of Fame. Beyond that, he'll have to see if the new Saints coaching staff has room for him. Evans was asked about the upcoming changes and the ongoing search for a head coach, which caught him by surprise.
'Oh, wow I wasn't expecting that,' Evans told reporters after Senior Bowl practice on Tuesday. 'Honestly, I wasn't even thinking about it, y'know I'm here trying to do as much as I can for these guys. Like I told them in the meeting, I'm here to sharpen the tools in their toolbox and add things to their toolbox. I think back home in New Orleans, that situation will handle itself, and when it does I'm pretty sure I have an opportunity to stay.'
When asked if he feels like the team will keep him around, Evans replied, 'I hope so. I don't know, this is my first go around with it. The team hasn't had change in almost 20 years at the head position, right, so I think its a lot of people's first go around with it in the building. I'm here now representing the Saints, and my job is to get my notes on these guys, help these guys be better. As long as I'm employed, I'll still be working.'
When it comes down to it, this quote sounds like he has the opportunity to stay, which is an enormous positive as he has been a great addition to the staff and may be worth looking at for a promotion in the near future. Of all the assistants and positional coaches on the team, there are a few who are worthy of staying, and Evans is no doubt one of them.

Countdown to Kickoff: John Ridgeway III is the Saints Player of Day 95 Ridgeway is part of a crowded competition on the Saints defensive line There are now 95 days until the New Orleans Saints open their 2025 regular season against the Arizona Cardinals on September 7. Defensive tackle John Ridgeway currently wears No. 95 for New Orleans. He's in his second year with the team but is the seventh player since 2018 to wear the number. Let's have a closer look at Ridgeway, our Saints Player of the Day. At Bloomington High School in Illinois, Ridgeway was an all-state performer in both football and wrestling as well as a star in the shot put and discus. From there, he'd initially attend Illinois State and starred for three years. Ridgeway was a 1st Team All-Missouri Valley Football Conference selection in 2020. After that season, he'd transfer to Arkansas. In his only year with the Razorbacks, Ridgeway had 2 sacks and 4 tackles for loss among his 39 total stops. The Dallas Cowboys selected Ridgeway in Round 5 of the 2022 NFL Draft. Dallas released him one week into the regular season, when Washington swooped him to sign him off waivers. Ridgeway would appear in 32 games for Washington over the next two seasons, starting six contests and playing 31% of the defensive snaps. He'd have a total of 55 tackles, with none for negative yardage and no sacks but one forced fumble. During training camp last year, the Saints acquired Ridgeway in a trade. New Orleans dealt a sixth round choice in the 2025 draft in exchange for Ridgeway and a Round 7 pick in this year's draft. Ultimately, Washington would deal that Round 6 pick back to New Orleans as part of last year's trade for Marshon Lattimore. Also included in that trade was New Orleans trading a fifth round pick to Washington and receiving Washington's Round 3 and Round 4 choices back in return. With those draft picks, the Saints chose Virginia safety Jonas Sanker in the third round, Louisville cornerback Quincy Riley in the fourth. Ridgeway played in 13 games for the Saints last season, but only appeared in 28% of the defensive snaps. He managed 15 total tackles, including his first career tackle for negative yardage. In 2025, he'll face stiff competition for a roster spot. New defensive coordinator Brandon Staley is likely going to switch from a 4-3 to a base 3-4 system, leaving fewer spots up for grabs. Along with Ridgeway, the Saints also return Bryan Bresee, Nathan Shepherd, Khalen Saunders, and Khristian Boyd at defensive tackle. Additionally, New Orleans traded for nose tackle Davon Godchaux and used a Round 3 draft choice on Texas Longhorns defensive tackle Vernon Broughton. John Ridgeway III will have his work cut out for him to wear No. 95 for a second consecutive season in New Orleans.

Predicting LSU baseball's starting pitching rotation for super regional vs. West Virginia LSU baseball used a 10-6 victory over Little Rock to extend its season to the super regional round of the 2025 NCAA Tournament. West Virginia comes to Baton Rouge to start the best-of-three series on Saturday. With the Tigers' season on the line, head coach Jay Johnson made shifts to his batting lineup on Monday. They proved to be instrumental as Ethan Frey tallied four hits and four RBI in the two spot. There are questions about how Johnson will handle the lineup this weekend, but we feel pretty good about what LSU's rotation will look like. Aces Kade Anderson and Anthony Eyanson rank second and third, respectively, in the country in strikeouts. They peaked at the right time with dominant outings in the regional and will look to have repeat performances vs. the Mountaineers. If LSU can't win the first two games, it will need to name another starter for Sunday's rubber match. Johnson went with Zac Cowan to begin Monday's game but pulled him with one out in the second inning in favor of Casan Evans. Though largely used as relievers, both earned the chance to start from their relief success. Here is a projected starting rotation for LSU in the Baton Rouge Super Regional against West Virginia. Friday: Kade Anderson Going with the projected top-five draft pick to start the series is a no brainer for LSU. Anderson is coming off one of his best starts of the year against Dallas Baptist where he struck out 11 through seven scoreless frames. In his usual Friday starting spot coming off six days of rest, Anderson should be a lock to begin the Tigers' quest for a College World Series berth. With the lefty on the mound, LSU's batters can step into the box confident that they won't get into a shootout. Saturday: Anthony Eyanson Eyanson logged two appearances in the regional, the most recent coming in relief Monday. With four rest days, he'll be ready to go far in a Saturday start. Should LSU win Friday's game, he'd be relied on to deliver the most important win of the season. The right-hander provides the energy needed to pump up the team and crowd. He held Little Rock scoreless in the regional opener through 7.2 innings, getting the Tigers on the right path to the next round. Sunday: Casan Evans Johnson's gamble of using Cowan to start Monday didn't come to fruition. Evans made the most of his opportunity to keep the game within reach for LSU, finishing with one run allowed and 12 strikeouts through six innings of relief. If the series goes to three games, expect Evans to make the fourth start of his collegiate career. By this point, he'll be familiar with West Virginia's hitters while Cowan will likely be available out of the bullpen. What if Evans has to be used in games one or two? There's a chance LSU can't afford to wait until Monday to deploy Casan Evans. As the team's third-best pitcher, he may be called upon in a high-leverage situation in games one and two. That could leave LSU scrambling on Monday if WVU forces a game 3. I don't see a scenario where Johnson burns Evans for the weekend unless he knows it's going to end the series in two games. If LSU needs Evans on Saturday or Sunday, I would not expect a 110 pitch outing. That would keep some gas in the tank for Monday, but Evans probably wouldn't start. That leaves guys like Cowan, Jaden Noot, or Chase Shores. All have started for LSU this year, but all have question marks. All three have the stuff, too; it's just a question of whether they'll have the command.
