WhatsApp Ads Are Now Showing Up In Status Updates And Channels For These Users

WhatsApp ads are coming for your updates and channels but it will never intrude your chat space, the messaging platform has said earlier.
WhatsApp confirmed ads are coming in the form of status updates and for promoted channels. And now we have started seeing signs of how this new version of the messaging app will work out in the long term.
The latest Android beta update is the first version to come with WhatsApp ads, taking it one step closer to other Meta products like Instagram and Facebook. WhatsApp announced ads back in June this year, and assured users that it will never invade their chat space/feed with ads.
The details about the new update and WhatsApp ads roll out has been shared by WaBetaInfo in a post recently. The tipster says users are seeing Status update ads in the beta version 2.25.21.11 that is available for select beta testers for now. Status update becomes the main hub for ads on WhatsApp and as you scroll through updates from different contacts, the messaging app will place an ad with a sponsored post label.
This is similar to how you see ads between Stories on Instagram. We independently checked for ads in the Status update with WhatsApp beta version but it seems the roll out even for the beta testers is being limited to some users for now.
WhatsApp is offering ads for channel subscriptions, promoted channels and Status updates. Status updates have become popular among WhatsApp users and the platform clearly sees a way out to push ads and keep its user base satisfied.
WhatsApp says ads will not come where your personal chats are located but going by the earlier promises and claims made by Meta, we cannot discount that changing in the near future. WhatsApp also assures that it will never sell/share your phone number to advertisers and your chats or calls will never become part of its exercise to push personalised ads.
Having said that, WhatsApp is going to use data like country, language to change the dynamics of its platform and it is now up to the people to decide if their favourite messaging app is worth the hassle anymore.

Soon, Truecaller to shut down call recording feature on iPhone app: Details

Truecaller is pulling the plug on its call-recording feature for iPhone users starting September 30. The feature, which was introduced just over two years ago for paid subscribers, will no longer be available as the company looks to shift focus back to its core spam-blocking services, according to a report by TechCrunch. Users who have existing call recordings can still access their saved files. Truecaller says users can download them locally, share them via email or messaging apps, or choose to store them in iCloud to retain access after the feature is shut down. A support page has also been set up to assist with the transition. Why is Truecaller shutting down call recording on iPhones? In a statement to TechCrunch, Truecaller's head of iOS, Nakul Kabra, said the decision to discontinue call recording was part of a broader strategy to prioritise features like Live Caller ID and automatic spam blocking — particularly on iOS, where third-party apps face more restrictions. Unlike Android, where call recording can be implemented directly, Apple's operating system does not allow native access to phone audio. To work around this, Truecaller relied on a more complex 'recording line' system, which merges calls to enable recording. This approach adds both cost and technical overhead. Kabra said these constraints made continuing the feature unsustainable. Another factor influencing the decision is Apple's move to offer similar capabilities natively. With iOS 18.1, Apple introduced built-in call recording and transcription for iPhone users. Unlike Truecaller's method, Apple's solution does not require call merging and uses Apple Intelligence on eligible iPhones to generate transcriptions that are saved directly to the Notes app. With the latest iOS 26 update, Apple has gone a step further by adding Live Call Translation, expanding its set of AI-powered communication tools and reducing the need for third-party alternatives.

Apple salary packages for software engineers, data scientists and others revealed, have a look

Apple's salary structures for key engineering and AI roles have surfaced in public filings, revealing just how much the tech giant pays its top talent. As competition intensifies in the artificial intelligence space, Apple appears to be offering highly competitive pay to attract and retain talent across software, data, and design roles. The salary disclosures come amid heightened attention on Apple's artificial intelligence unit. (AFP File) The data, reported by Business Insider, is based on international filings for foreign hires. While the numbers reflect base salaries and do not include stock grants or bonuses, they offer a clear picture of the company's compensation strategy, especially amid recent exits to rival firms like Meta. Software Engineers, Data Scientists and AI Roles at Apple: Salary Breakdown Below are the base salary ranges (USD) Apple offers for some of its most in-demand roles: Software Development Engineer (Applications): $132,267 – $378,700 Data Scientist: $105,550 – $322,400 Machine Learning Engineer: $143,100 – $312,200 Machine Learning Researcher: $114,100 – $312,200 Software Engineering Manager: $166,691 – $378,700 Human Interface Designer: $135,400 – $468,500 Hardware Systems Engineer: $125,495 – $378,700 AR/VR Software Development: $129,805 – $312,200 RF/Analog/Mixed Signal Engineer: $131,352 – $312,200 Design Verification Engineer: $103,164 – $312,200 These figures do not account for Apple's additional compensation such as annual stock grants, bonuses, or employee discounts, all of which are common across senior technical roles. Mobile Finder: iPhone 17 Air expected to debut in coming months Why Apple's AI team is under focus The salary disclosures come amid heightened attention on Apple's artificial intelligence unit. In recent weeks, four engineers from Apple's Apple Foundation Models (AFM) group reportedly left for Meta, pushing Apple to raise salaries for top AI and machine learning talent. Apple is currently hiring aggressively for roles in machine learning, AR/VR, software engineering, and data science, with the goal of expanding its capabilities in generative AI, on-device intelligence, and personalisation features across its devices. While Meta and Google are also offering competitive packages, Apple's filings show that it is matching, and in some cases, exceeding, market standards for roles central to its next wave of product development.
