Looking to propel Uttar Pradesh's economy, Yogi Adityanath holds first meeting with EAG
Among its suggestions, EAG has proposed the launch of an IT Talent Mission to give a boost to software development and exports. EAG would help the state achieve the objective of making Uttar Pradesh a trillion-dollar economy, those aware of the development said.
Welcoming EAG's inputs, the chief minister said 'Uttar Pradesh is on track to become the growth engine of India's economy. All departments are working in coordination, and the advisory group's suggestions must be implemented in a timely manner.'
He mentioned that the state is promoting clean, sustainable, and modern public transport through the use of electric buses. Uttar Pradesh will soon become a hub for electric vehicle (EV) manufacturing, the chief minister added. A unit of the Hinduja Group, set up in the state, is expected to start EV production very soon.
The 16-member Economic Advisory Group (EAG) was set up by a state government order dated June 18, 2025. It comprises leading experts from different sections of society to advise and make valuable suggestions to give a push to the state's economy under the changing scenario on the economic front across the world.
The EAG made a presentation suggesting changes in the agriculture, transport, energy, irrigation and entrepreneurship sectors and lauded the progress made by the state government in the past eight years.
'The chief minister has asked for implementation of the EAG's suggestions. The EAG made over 10-20 suggestions and we will have to find ways about incorporating them in the government's policies,' a senior officer said.
The chief minister mentioned that the Uttar Pradesh government has set up the Uttar Pradesh Rozgar Mission to create more job opportunities for the youth. This mission will start working soon.
The chief minister said Uttar Pradesh is making significant strides in solar energy. He highlighted the recent inauguration of an 8,000 MW power plant in Kanpur by Prime Minister Narendra Modi and noted that all processes for renewable energy expansion are in place. The state aims to generate 22,000 MW of renewable energy by 2027.
'Uttar Pradesh will emerge as a national role model in green energy, with supportive policies driving self-reliance in clean power,' the CM said.
Professor Nachiketa Tiwari of IIT Kanpur is the coordinator of the group. EAG has experts from the agriculture sector, labour intensive industry, defence, semi-conductor, power, energy, medical technology, hospitality industry, employment and the transport sectors.
EAG will analyse short and long-term economic changes taking place at the global level and evaluate the impact of policy changes and global economic incidents on the state's economy.
EAG has been tasked to extend cooperation in the formulation of the state's economic development policy and advise the state government about sector specific reforms and strategies for inclusive development of Uttar Pradesh.
EAG will provide specialised guidance to the state government's various departments. It will work out a research-based report to give directions to a public debate on the main economic issues and policies on inequality, productivity and employment.

Over 10K female cops deployed along Kanwar Yatra routes in U.P.
The safety of women is at the core of security planning for this year's Kanwar Yatra, with the Uttar Pradesh government deploying over 10,000 women police personnel along the pilgrimage routes, according to a press note issued by the state's media cell on Sunday. Officials said the state government's initiative reflects its commitment to creating an environment where women can participate in religious and cultural events freely and fearlessly. (File photo) The deployment includes 8,541 head constables and 1,486 sub-inspectors, accounting for nearly 15% of the total force deployed to ensure a safe and smooth experience for devotees. Chief minister Yogi Adityanath had directed the implementation of a women-centric security model in a recent high-level review meeting after he was informed that around 6 crore devotees, including an estimated 60-70 lakh women, were expected to take part in the Kanwar Yatra. Officials said the state government's initiative reflects its commitment to creating an environment where women can participate in religious and cultural events freely and fearlessly. As part of this model, female constables have been stationed at all women's help desks to assist and counsel devotees in sensitive situations. Additionally, Shakti help booths, in collaboration with women's voluntary organisations, are being set up in several districts to support women pilgrims. According to senior police officials, women police personnel have been made a mandatory part of quick response teams (QRTs), including night patrols, to ensure immediate support in emergencies. They said the QRT patrolling has been intensified along key routes, and female officers are monitoring special 24x7 control rooms and helplines across 11 zones. They further said that the Meerut zone is a critical hub of the Kanwar Yatra and has witnessed the highest deployment, with 3,200 women police personnel positioned across districts like Meerut, Muzaffarnagar, Baghpat, Hapur, and Ghaziabad. Technological surveillance through drones, CCTVs, and social media monitoring is being actively used to further enhance security even as over 150 help desks for women have been established to offer real-time assistance, they added.

CM Dhami vows to make Uttarakhand corruption free
Dehradun (Uttarakhand) [India], July 13 (ANI): Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami on Sunday participated in the felicitation ceremony organized by religious and social organizations in Balliwala, Dehradun on the efforts being made by the Chief Minister for 'corruption free Uttarakhand'. According to a release, on this occasion, the Chief Minister also administered the oath of corruption free Uttarakhand to everyone. The Chief Minister gave information about the steps taken towards making the state free from corruption and described the support of the public as the biggest strength of this campaign. He said that this 'Abhinandan Samaroh is not just an honor, but a celebration of realizing the dream of making Uttarakhand corruption free. This honor belongs to the 1.25 crore people of Uttarakhand, who are moving towards the development of the state with the values of honesty, transparency and accountability.' The Chief Minister said that the action being taken against corruption is 'not a personal victory, but it is a victory of public trust,' power of honesty and expectations of the youth. The state government has made extensive use of technology to ensure transparency under the policy of 'Zero Tolerance', which includes arrangements like online transfer process, CM Helpline 1905 for monitoring the examination system and public grievance redressal and 1064 for corruption complaints. The Chief Minister said that strict action was taken in cases like irregularities in recruitment examinations, corruption in transfer-posting and commission in schemes. More than 200 people involved in corruption have been sent to jail in the last three years. More than 24 thousand people have been provided government jobs in the state in the last four years. The Chief Minister said that the governance system has been strengthened in the state by implementing the Uniform Civil Code, making strict anti-copying laws, action against land jihad and love jihad and through anti-conversion and anti-riot laws. He said that these steps have proved that if there is strong will, any challenge can be faced successfully. The Chief Minister said that 'Operation Kalanemi' is being run to 'expose the real identity of impersonators in the state.' So far, more than 200 suspects have been arrested, including some Bangladeshi infiltrators. The Chief Minister appealed to the public to immediately inform the police about such elements. The Chief Minister said that adopting the mantra of Prime Minister Narendra Modi 'Na khaunga, na khane doonga', the state government is committed to building a transparent, accountable and public welfare governance system. He said that continuous efforts are being made to make the state corruption free, culturally rich and the best state in the country. (ANI)
