Beed police help family reunite with son after 8 years

Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar: A sugarcane-cutting couple in Beed was reunited with their son after he had been missing for nearly eight years. The reunion took place on Friday at the office of Beed superintendent of police Navneet Kanwat. The son, now 24, had left home in Dec 2017 while in Std X, as he was upset with his academic struggles. At the time, his parents, originally from Khalwat Limgaon village, were working as seasonal workers in Karnataka. The boy had been staying with a teacher in Nalwandi village to continue his education. Since his parents are uneducated, they did not file a missing person's report until 2023. The case was later transferred to the Anti-Human Trafficking Unit (AHTU) and assigned to Pallavi Jadhav. Jadhav, along with the local crime branch led by Shriram Khatawkar, was able to trace the man and bring him back to his family within a month. "After taking charge of the unit around a couple of months back, I came across the case of the missing boy around a month back," Jadhav told reporters. "We first visited the school in which the teenager was studying. We then inquired with his teachers, including the one who offered the boy accommodation. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like AI now helps people speak languages fast Talkpal AI Undo After initial investigation, we came to know that the boy had a good character and was struggling in studies," Jadhav said. The police then used technical investigation among other tools to trace the missing boy. According to police, the boy, after fleeing from Beed, went to Pune where he worked as a security guard for some time. He later learned metal fabrication skills and went to Gujarat to earn a livelihood. The boy returned to Pune almost a week back when Beed police contacted and persuaded him to meet his parents. "The boy was apprehensive that his parents would scold him for dropping out and deserting them. However, the reactions of his parents when they met him were completely different as they could not hold their tears back while hugging their son," Jadhav said. Man duped of 2.96 crorein online stock mkt fraud

Lucknow: A man was duped of over Rs 2.96 crore in an online fraud in Indiranagar. According to an FIR lodged on Saturday, victim Apoorva Rai of Faridi Nagar said he was watching reels on the social media platform Instagram on April 19 when he saw an ad related to stock market analysis training. When he clicked on the ad it took him to a WhatsApp user whose name was written as Tripti Grover ACI. She advised him to invest money in the stock market. On April 24, he was made to download an ACI Century App by sending a link on his WhatsApp from the said number. After this, he logged into the app with his number and created an ID password. Thereafter, he was asked to join a WhatsApp group called ACI Exclusive Guidance Group, which included five members, including him. In this group, screenshots of profit were sent daily and instructions were given for buying and selling QIP stocks, UC stocks and IPOs. They also allotted them an (SME) IPO worth around Rs 1.5 crore. Rai said the cyber fraudsters used to take money in different mule accounts for buying capital-raising tools. After depositing the money in them, they used to send screenshots of transactions. Thereafter, that amount started getting displayed in the app. After this, they used to buy IPO, which later started showing profit on the money invested in that app. When he requested to withdraw 50% of the profit on May 27, the cyber criminals, citing different charges, transferred Rs 2,96,43,437 in 26 transactions from April 25 to July 6 in the name of investment in three govt banks. He said he gave an application to cyber crime police station Lucknow. "I am giving the statement of the accounts from which the money was transferred along with the application," he said. SHO, cyber cell, Brijesh Yadav said that the matter is being probed. Stay updated with the latest local news from your city on Times of India (TOI). T.N. government designates district jail in Salem as ‘special camp' for Bangladesh nationals

The State government has decided to designate a district jail in Salem as a 'special camp' to accommodate Bangladesh nationals as a temporary measure to restrict their movement until their eventual deportation. The district jail in Attur has been designated as the 'special camp'. There are about 180 Bangladesh nationals in Tamil Nadu against whom orders under Section 3(2)(e) of the Foreigners Act, 1946 are in effect till their deportation. The State government's decision a few weeks ago follows a request from the Q Branch police for a 'special camp' in Attur District Jail to restrict the movement of Bangladesh nationals till their deportation. The Q Branch had said about 180 Bangladesh nationals in Central Prison, Puzhal, would be accommodated at a special camp till the disposal of their cases and deportation. There is limited space at the special camp in Tiruchi, and hence, the decision to convert the jail in Attur into a special camp. This jail was found suitable as it was spread over 1.25 acres and was upgraded into a district jail over 15 years ago. The two-storey building on the campus with high walls has a capacity of around 200 prisoners, with each room capable of accommodating 20. According to the Tamil Nadu Police, over 50 cases had been registered against 93 Bangladesh nationals in 2024. During multiple operations by the Anti-Terrorist Squad in Tiruppur district in January this year, 59 Bangladesh nationals staying illegally in the State were apprehended. Intelligence inputs about Bangladesh immigrants who enter Tamil Nadu illegally have been collected and shared with senior police authorities.
