Naga orgs hold talks with Manipur guv over border fence, FMR issues
Imphal: A delegation of Naga bodies led by the United Naga Council (UNC) held a crucial meeting with governor Ajay Kumar Bhalla at the Raj Bhavan here on Saturday, ahead of proposed agitations demanding the govt to revoke scrapping of Free Movement Regime (FMR) and to stop India-Myanmar border fencing in Naga inhabited areas, reports Donald Sairem. Speaking to the media after the meeting was over, UNC president Ng Lorho said the UNC on July 22 had submitted a 20-day ultimatum to the Centre as well as the state govts. "After the expiry of our ultimatum with regards to scrapping of FMR and construction of border fencing, the governor invited us for a dialogue. The governor had earlier assured that he will facilitate dialogue between the Centre and UNC. But that has not happened so far," he said. Subsequently, UNC along with its federating organisations have proposed to launch agitations at any point of time to push for the demands.
