Sooraj Barjatya on Salman Khan's return as Prem: Script must be age-appropriate

India Today2 days ago
If there's one desire that most Salman Khan fans still have, it is to see him play Prem again. From 'Maine Pyaar Kiya' (1989), 'Hum Aapke Hai Koun' (1994), to 'Hum Saath - Saath Hain' (1999), his romantic hero avatar has made many fall in love with him. And the one behind creating that image is filmmaker Sooraj Barjatya.India Today caught up with the director and asked him about his plans to get Salman back as Prem in one of his next films. He exclusively shared that he is indeed working on something, but the project will take time to kickstart.advertisement'Thoda waqt hai (There's still time to that film). We are working on the story of the film with Salman bhai. But we will also have to have an age-appropriate script for the same,' Barjatya said.
However, the filmmaker is already working on his next film- another family entertainer with a dash of his style of a sweet love story. He mentioned how every director has their own strength that they work on, and in his age, he feels more responsible towards telling a story that celebrates his world.'We will be announcing the film soon, probably in November. It features established actors, but we cannot talk much about it. It's a family drama and a love story, a world that we present strongly in our films. I do feel responsible towards giving our audiences the stories that we believe and celebrate,' he said.Barjatya is also set to soon launch a TV show on Colors, Mannpasand Ki Shaadi. The new age romantic-family drama talks about the quest of young people finding their right partner. It will also delve into the parents-children's relationships and how the dynamics are ever-evolving.Salman's last film with the director-producer was the family drama 'Prem Ratan Dhan Payo' (2015).Barjatya's last theatrical release was 'Uunchai', for which he got the National Film Award for Best Director.- EndsMust Watch
