Tottenham midfielder Bissouma will miss the UEFA Super Cup for turning up late too many times

Washington Post2 days ago
UDINE, Italy — Tottenham midfielder Yves Bissouma has been left out of the squad for the UEFA Super Cup against Paris Saint-Germain on Wednesday for disciplinary reasons, an unhelpful distraction to manager Thomas Frank in his attempt to mark his debut with silverware.
Bissouma didn't travel to the Italian city of Udine after being late 'several times' this offseason, Frank said at a news conference on Tuesday.

Done Deal: Tchatchoua ready for Wolves after 12m offer accepted

As Football Italia reported earlier today, Wolverhampton Wanderers made a €12m offer for Jackson Tchatchoua, and Hellas Verona have now accepted. Our transfer pundit Alfredo Pedullà had revealed the figures of the latest proposal of €12m. That proved to be convincing enough for the Serie A side, while the player has also agreed personal terms and given the all clear. It means the Cameroon international should fly out on Friday to undergo his medical tests and sign the contract. (Photo by) Several clubs had shown an interest in Tchatchoua this summer, including Nottingham Forest, Galatasaray and Olympique Marseille, while Milan, Inter and Napoli were linked at one stage. However, Wolves came in with the right €12m bid and the right-back is heading to Molyneux. He turns 24 next month and has been at Verona since 2023, when he arrived on loan from Charleroi and then made the move permanent for €3m a year later. The player contributed two goals and three assists in 36 Serie A appearances last season.

Nicklas Backstrom Appearing In Vintage Form As He Opens Campaign With Brynäs

Former Washington Capitals center Nicklas Backstrom may not have played for the last two seasons, but he hasn't missed a beat. Starting anew with his hometown team, Brynäs IF, in the SHL, Backstrom is looking a lot like his usual, vintage self and put on a show in a preseason game against Timrå IK. The 37-year-old recorded two assists in a 4-1 win, including this highlight-reel saucer pass to former Anaheim Ducks winger Jakob Silfverberg on a power play. Backstrom signed a contract with Brynäs earlier this summer, marking his return to professional hockey after missing his final two seasons with the Capitals due to ongoing complications following hip resurfacing surgery. "Right now, my body feels great. I've been on the ice all summer. I feel ready to take on that task," Backstrom said of returning, adding, "It's hard to say, but I myself feel that I'm hopefully a good hockey player and can contribute as much as possible." Nicklas Backstrom Reflects On His Health, Journey & Return To The Ice With Brynäs: 'I Feel Energized... Body Feels Great' After missing the last two seasons with the Washington Capitals, Nicklas Backstrom is making his long-awaited return to the ice in fitting fashion with his hometown team, Brynäs IF. Back in his home country of Sweden, Backstrom is also playing with a handful of former Washington teammates, including Axel Jonsson-Fjallby, Christian Djoos and Michal Kempny, as well as Capitals prospect Aron Dahlqvist.
