Kajol, Ajay Devgn react to ‘8-hour work shift' demand for working moms amid Deepika Padukone-Sandeep Reddy Vanga row: ‘You should be able to…'
The makers of Maa, starring Kajol and backed by her husband-actor Ajay Devgn, released the trailer of the film on Thursday. During the trailer launch of the movie, the actor couple was asked about their opinion on the reduced number of work hours for mothers, amid Deepika Padukone and Sandeep Reddy Vanga's Spirit row. Deepika walked out of Vanga's Spirit, with sources citing that her demand for 8-hour workday, among many others, was not met by the filmmaker.
When a journalist asked if the demand of working an 8-hour for a mom is appropriate, Kajol replied, 'Well, I love the fact that you can work less and…' Ajay apologised for interrupting her and said, 'It is not like it's not going well with the people. Many are understanding it now. Most of the industry, I would say, will not have a problem with this. And apart from this being a mother and working for 8 hours, you should be able to start working for 8 to 9 hours shift. So I think it's person-to-person, but most of the industry does understand nowadays.'
Deepika Padukone and Sandeep Reddy Vanga stirred up a controversy after their reported fallout in Prabhas starrer Spirit. Several reports earlier suggested that Deepika opted out of due to remuneration issues, and her conditions around the work hours, in the wake of her motherhood journey. Soon after the speculations, it was officially announced that Triptii Dimri will be playing the female lead in Spirit.

However, after a leak of the film's plot, Vanga took to his X handle and shared a cryptic post and wrote, 'When I narrate a story to an actor, I place 100% faith. There is an unsaid NDA (Non Disclosure Agreement) between us. But by doing this, You've 'DISCLOSED' the person that you are…Putting down a Younger actor and ousting my story? Is this what your feminism stands for ? As a filmmaker, I put years of hard work behind my craft & for me, filmmaking is everything. You didn't get it. You won't get it. You will never get it.'
Talking about Maa, along with Kajol, the movie also stars Ronit Roy, and Indraneil Sen Gupta, among others. Produced by Kumar Mangat Pathak, Ajay Devgn and Jyoti Deshpande under Jio Studios and Devgn Films, it will be released in various languages, including, Hindi, Tamil, Telugu, and Bengali, for a pan-India reach. The film is scheduled to hit the theatres on June 27.

Housefull 5 has released a day after Thug Life but that movie's negative word of mouth has affected it so much that has started seeing very high drops. Raid 2 put up strong collections across India but what stands out is its collections in the Mumbai circuit. Raid 2 collected Rs 8.35 crore in this circuit and even Housefull 5, which is much bigger a film than the former, has netted lesser. Housefull 5 has collected Rs 7.80 crore, marking a difference of slightly over Rs 50 lakh. In every other circuit, Housefull 5 has established a comfortable lead over Ajay Devgn's crime-drama. The Territorial Breakdown For The Opening Day Box Office Of Housefull 5 And Raid 2 Is As Under Raid 2 went on to net over Rs 162 crore in India, emerging a bonafied hit. All eyes are on Housefull 5 to see if it can go beyond what Raid 2 has collected, and if yes, by what margin. Housefull 5, being a much pricier film, must net atleast 40 crore more than Raid 2 to be in contention to be called a hit movie. The weekend should bring in around Rs 85 crore net for Akshay Kumar 's comic caper and then it is to be seen if the weekdays can remain strong. Talking about international collections, Housefull 5 has taken a very good opening of USD 1.25 million and it should cross the lifetime collections of Raid 2 internationally by the end of day 2. Fardeen Khan reveals he stopped having alcohol and became sober in 2020: 'It was interfering with my life'
Fardeen Khan made his comeback on screen after many years with Sanjay Leela Bhansali's 'Heeramandi'. The actor is now seen in 'Housefull 5' which also stars Akshay Kumar, Riteish Deshmukh, Abhishek Bachchan, Sanjay Dutt, Jackie Shroff, Jacqueline Fernandez, Sonam Bajwa among many others. Apart from his on-screen appearances, Fardeen has also been in the news for his drastic weight transformation. In a recent interview, the actor has spoken about about his journey towards losing weight. He revealed that he also gave up on alcohol and is sober since 2020. The actor said during a chat with Cyrus Broacha on his Youtube channel, "I knew I had to get in a certain shape. I was 102 or 103 kilos at my heaviest and not muscle — just good old body fat. Last week I was 78 kgs. I lost 25 kgs." Fardeen further added how he had to give up on alcohol. "I was at a stage where I just didn't feel myself. I became sober in 2020 and I stopped alcohol in one go. I needed to stop, it was interfering with my life. I took professional help to stop and it was the best decision I have made in my life. I started drinking at a very young so this was the first time the brain fog lifted." Earlier, in an interview Fardeen had spoken about taking time off from movies as he was concentrating on his personal life. Him and his wife Natasha had moved to London and they were facing trouble having children. He said during a chat with Bollywood Hungama, "We were having challenges having children, and that's when we decided to take the IVF route. That's why I needed to take some time off. It wasn't meant to be this long. I thought only for a few years… get everything settled, but things didn't happen that way.
