EastEnders addresses Ozzy Osbourne and England's Lionesses in special scene
EastEnders has paid tribute to the late Ozzy Osbourne and celebrated England's Lionesses win against Italy in a specially recorded topical scene.
The BBC soap is no stranger to last-minute additions that help to cement the fictional world of Walford into reality.
Over the years we've seen everything from sporting results, the death of Michael Jackson, Royal weddings and Presidential elections dropped into conversation, all filmed on the day of broadcast.
Last night's episode was no exception, with a brief chat between Elaine Peacock (Harriet Thorpe) and Callum Highway (Tony Clay) discussing the previous night's footy results.
Ironically, it was this match that took the show off air.
He asked her how she was coping after handing over the The Queen Vic to Kat Moon (Jessie Wallace), to which she responded: 'Well, I can't be too down after that England match. I mean, 2-1?'
With the two genres not really going hand in hand, you might not be aware that our women's team reached Sunday's Euro 2025 final with a dramatic comeback win against Italy during extra time.
'I'm going to tell you something, there's going to be a lot of kids named Michelle and Chloe in nine months time,' Elaine continued, referencing players Michelle Agyemang and Chloe Kelly who stepped up from the sub's bench and scored the winning goals.
Callum then said it would be 'weird' watching the final without Elaine behind the bar.
Elaine then joked that Kat would have to put a swear pot in front of her grandmother Mo Harris (Laila Morse) on Sunday, and that way she'll be able to retire.
She then mentioned the ongoing love affair between Callum and her grandson Johnny Carter (Charlie Suff), who is away on a cruise with mum Linda (Kellie Bright).
The atmosphere turned frosty and they both parted ways.

However, some fans picked up on a little Easter egg in the background of the scene. Black Sabbath's Paranoid could clearly be heard belting out from the market, in a nod to the band's front man Ozzy Osbourne, who passed away on Tuesday aged 76. More Trending
The 'prince of darkness' died in the UK, just weeks after his final performance.
'Omg I loved that new scene put in between Callum and Elaine, nice touch with Ozzy playing in the background,' said one viewer on X.

The six new holiday rules for summer
Holiday rules are already a confusing plethora of official regulations and local customs. And earlier this month, officials in the Italian town of Portofino threw a handful of googlies into the mix when it announced that tourists can no longer walk through the town's cobbled streets barefoot, in swimsuits or indeed topless. Alcohol can only be consumed in bars and restaurants, and God forbid you take a snooze on a wall. The new rules are targeted with precision at uncouth holiday makers and follow similar pan-European crackdowns, which include Vigo in Spain banning peeing in the sea, stealing pebbles in Sardinia and mooning in Grecian town squares. To navigate these regulations and others, here's my essential six new holiday rules. Don't leave home without it. Disguise the pee-at-sea I can't see how the Spanish authorities will effectively police their law against 'physiological evacuation at sea' as I doubt a band of uniformed snorklers will be taking to the waves to catch those worthy of a £650 fine. But they could spot you from the beach. So if you've decided that the beach loo is so foul that it's worth risking a fine, at least pee while you swim. Do not be a cruise bore Heavy fines await anyone who strikes up conversations with strangers on holiday on the subject of cruises, particularly while travelling on cruise ships. Your knowledge of deck numbers, cabaret, restaurant facilities, excursions, staff-to-passenger ratios, hull strength or balcony-laden floating condominiums are not topics for public consumption. Do not take iPads to restaurants If you're foolish enough to own such a device, do not let it leave the bedroom in the evening. On no account bring it to a taverna with the idea that it will keep the kids quiet unless, of course, you wish to be perceived as a regressive gimp. It's better for humanity if your offspring engage in food fights and it's grotesquely offensive to continental culture that favours conversation. But books, card games and colouring-in is very much allowed. Learn some local lingo You must pay respect to the locals and learn the following few crucial sentences so that you can fit in and pleasantly surprise the natives. 'Six beers, please', 'Can you re-heat these chips?', 'I can't afford Château Minuty, do you have any retsina?' 'I have no money but my son will do the washing up', 'What's the Wifi code?', 'Can we get free drinks if we tag you on Instagram?' Enjoy hire car roulette Post-Brexit, it is now harder to gain access to European resolution systems so just enjoy the game for what it is. Thus simply treat the following as a cultural lesson as you discover the hire car is a shuttle-bus-ride away from the airport, there's a queue outside the office with no shade, the staff are competing to see who can display greater nonchalance and there are no water or loo facilities. Their office is closed on the day of your flight home so you'll have to bring it back the day before, oh, and it'll need to be returned with a full tank although the nearest petrol station is 50 miles away. Holiday like you're on holiday Terrible punishments will be meted out to those who confuse holiday with travel. Travel is what occurs to and from the holiday; it's the nightmare bit, no longer some romantic interlude of discovery. A holiday is about no washing up, or shopping or cooking. It is not about the news, or emails, or X or Trump, but about the pool and your sunbed in relation to it. And, endeavouring against my better judgement to adhere to much of the above, I hope to see you back here in two weeks if I return.

The former Man City forward was the definition of a supersub, coming on for an injured Lauren James at the end of the first half and going on to set up Alessia Russo's equalising goal and netting the deciding spot kick. History-making Lionesses showed true English grit to win Euros and fully deserve the glory Kelly had similar influences from the bench in the Lionesses' dramatic semi-final and quarter-final victories over Italy and Sweden. Speaking after her confidently dispatched penalty, Kelly had no doubt she was going to score having had to rely on a rebounded miss for her winner against Italy earlier in the week. She told the BBC: "I was cool. I was composed. "And I knew I was going to hit the back of the net. I don't miss penalties twice". She added: "The celebrations are going to be crazy. I hope the whole of England comes out to support us and shows the love to all these girls, because they deserve it." The Lionesses made history by becoming the first England side across both the men's and women's game to win a major tournament on foreign soil. While boss Sarina Wiegman added a third consecutive Euros title to her trophy cabinet, her second with the Lionesses after initially tasting success as Holland boss in 2017.
