Update:
Tacoma Police Department spokesperson Sgt. John Correa told The News Tribune at the scene that police received multiple calls around 2:49 p.m. reporting shots heard outside Lincoln High School. More calls came in from a nearby business after a boy showed up with a gunshot wound.
'What started the argument, what started the shots, we don't know at this time,' Correa said. 'We're still investigating it.'
The victim has been hospitalized with non-life-threatening injuries, according to Correa.
Police have the scene spanning South 37th Street and South G Street closed for forensic processing and there is some traffic congestion in the area, he said.
A collision down the road involved four cars, including a police vehicle enroute to the scene of the shooting and a school bus with no students onboard, according to Correa.
Initial post:
One boy was shot outside of Lincoln High School in Tacoma Tuesday afternoon.
The shooting took place just before school ended in the 700 block of South 37th Street. The boy sustained a gunshot wound, and the status of his injuries was not immediately known, Tacoma Police Department spokesperson Sgt. John Correa told The News Tribune.
Correa said it was not immediately known if the injured boy is a student at the school.
The alleged shooter has not been arrested, Correa said. The cause for the shooting is being investigated.
The school went into a modified lockdown as a precaution after 911 was called for the shooting. That restricted access in and out of the building, according to Tacoma Public Schools chief communications officer Tanisha Jumper in a statement.
'As this is an active investigation we have no other statement at this time. Counselor will be on site tomorrow to provide support to students and staff,' she said.
While responding to the shooting, a police sergeant was involved in a crash with other cars. Correa said he 'is fine and OK' as well as the other people involved in the crash.
Correa said he could not confirm how many other cars were involved in the crash.
Two people were transported to a local hospital by Tacoma Fire personnel, a department spokesperson told the News Tribune.
Buddy's Chicken and Waffles on South G Street posted on Instagram it closed early because its block is an active crime scene.

Police said Wein's vehicle was located in South Kingstown on April 10, days before he was officially reported missing. Westerly and Pawtucket are about 48 miles apart. Back in May, the beach town's top cop eased fears for residents, telling Fox News Digital that 'there is no connection between human remains found and online fears of a serial killer in New England.' 'As far as I'm concerned, as far as right now, this has nothing to do with any serial killer [or] any New England murderer,' Westerly Police Chief Paul Gingerella previously told Fox News Digital. Five of the bodies were found in Massachusetts, five in Connecticut and three in Rhode Island. Officials said the victims all ranged in age from 25 to 44, and varied in gender. One of the victim's families squashed serial killer rumors, believing their daughter's death was unrelated. 4 New photos of Taylor Swift's home in Rhode Island with fresh landscaping and perfectly mown lawns. Romano's body was the first of the 13 to be discovered. She was found in Foster, Rhode Island, in March, about 49 miles from Westerly. Gingerella attributed the serial killer fears to 'the power of social media.' Despite the rumors, he added that he believes social media 'has more benefits than negatives.'

Terry Bradshaw not happy with ‘ridiculous' treatment at airport

Terry Bradshaw's travels are never boring. Unfortunately, for the former Pittsburgh Steelers star and Fox broadcaster, he was the random traveler caught in the TSA's crosshairs on Monday morning. At Springfield-Branson National Airport in Missouri, as the 76-year-old Bradshaw was walking through security, he was selected for an extra diligent search. This did not amuse Bradshaw, and the person he was traveling with was able to catch his displeasure on camera. 'Im not against being safe but…This is ridiculous!!' Bradshaw said on a video posted to Facebook. 'TSA approved, had the body pat down, all the luggage checked, unpacked item by item. Now going into private room for ANOTHER pat down.' While Bradshaw was not happy with this decision by security, he was fully cooperative and even joked towards the camera as he walked with the guard. Bradshaw was in Branson for 'The Terry Bradshaw Show,' which is touring across the country this summer. His shows consist of Bradshaw telling stories and singing. Bradshaw, who quarterbacked the Steelers to four Super Bowls in the 70s, just finished his show in Branson on Sunday. Somehow, this was not the first crazy incident that happened at an airport for Bradshaw this year. While on a flight that had just landed in Pittsburgh on April 10, the exit door became jammed, trapping passengers in the aircraft for an extended period. That is when, according to one passenger, Selah Gamble, Bradshaw unjammed the door. 'The pilot announced and you could kind of hear he was chuckling as he said it, but he said 'thanks to the strength of one of our passengers, we were finally able to get the door open',' Gamble told Ricky Sayer of KDKA Pittsburgh. 'And I think we all knew he was alluding to Mr. Bradshaw,' But Bradshaw was quick to denounce these claims, posting to Instagram, 'Just to set the record straight… I did nothing to open the door on the plane! The maintenance crew had it open in 15 minutes.'
