Lucy Kennedy responds to rumours she will be the next host of RTE's Liveline

TV star Lucy Kennedy has broken her silence about being tipped as the next host of Liveline – saying she is 'happy' where she is.
The Living With Lucy presenter was tipped to return to RTÉ for the first time since 2012 as a replacement for Joe Duffy on the RTÉ Radio 1 show, according to Ladbrokes.
Odds slashed from 8/1 to 3/1 for Lucy Kennedy to switch allegiances from Classic Hits to RTÉ Radio One and take up the iconic Liveline slot.
Cal Gildart of Ladbrokes said: 'From Living with Lucy to Liveline with Lucy, odds have been slashed on the Classic Hits presenter to move from the mornings to the mid-afternoon and try to fill Joe's shoes on Liveline.'
But Lucy dismissed the bookies odds, saying she is happy where she is.
Speaking exclusively to the Irish Mirror, she said: 'I'm happy where I am for now, doing the breakfast show on Ireland's Classic Hits with naughty Colm (Hayes).'
The popular presenter previously hosted a morning radio show alongside Baz Ashmawy on the RTÉ airwaves from 2010 to 2012 before leaving the station.
Last year, she admitted 2FM bosses did ask the Dubliner if she would consider returning to the station amid a host of presenters leaving.
'I was asked if I'd like to put my hat in, and I said no,' says Lucy, who can now be heard on Ireland's Classic Hits Radio on weekday mornings with Colm Hayes.
'Myself and Baz did Weekend Breakfast there for three years, and we loved it, I really enjoyed it.
'But I'm very happy at Classic Hits — the station has been good to me and I also believe that we've got the perfect audience now,' she said at the time.
Since Joe Duffy's decision to leave the staple phone-in show, rumours have been rife about who may take over the Dubliner's spot.
RTÉ Today host Daithi O Se, Katie Hannon, Miriam O'Callaghan and Jennifer Zamparelli have also been tipped to go into talks with RTÉ bosses.

The Frank and Walters reveal how an English woman inspired a Cork anthem

The song 'After All' got a new lease of life when it featured on an episode of The Young Offenders, but as RTÉ show Aistear an Amhráin reveals, it's not a song about the city at all It is a song that was released 32 years ago, was revived on a popular TV show just before Covid and has now become something of a de facto anthem for Cork people at home and abroad. After All, the most celebrated song from that most Cork of bands, the Frank and Walters, is now as adored as old standards like The Banks of my Own Lovely Lee. Should Cork hurlers manage to live up to early season expectations and win the All-Ireland for the first time in 20 years this summer, it will be sung lustily at Croke Park. It has long been on the tannoy at Turners Cross, where Cork City footballers ply their trade.

Conor Phillips, a 25-year-old from Limerick, has played for both Ireland and Munster. Ahead of his debut on the ITV dating show, he said he is looking for a 'dominant woman.' 'Someone who is really sure of themselves, ambitious, a bit of a go-getter and good craic. I like dark eyes and I don't mind a dominant woman.' Conor Phillips News in 90 Seconds - 5th June 2025 When asked if he would be hired or fired by presenter Maya Jama based on his flirting skills he said 'definitely hire.' 'I ask girls if they want to go halves on a baby,' he said. 'It doesn't work, but it gets them laughing. It's an ice-breaker, not a serious question of course!' The Limerick man said his biggest ick was someone who was 'too needy'. 'I like someone to be independent and do their own thing and then we come together and do our thing.' When asked to finish the statement 'You're a 10 but…', he confessed: 'I don't like to answer to anyone else. 'I like to do my own thing. It's something I'm working on for a relationship. Hopefully I've improved!' The Ireland 7s wing will replace Kyle Ashman, who left the show days before its launch. His shock exit came after reports alleged that he was involved in a machete attack in February. The 23-year-old who hails from Stafford was cleared by police, and in a statement he told MailOnline: 'I fully cooperated with this police investigation and made it very clear that I had no involvement in this incident.' If they're not bad looking, that's always a plus,' she said. 'I love a boy that's a bit pasty, like Timothée Chalamet. I don't mind scrawny, or a bit of a 'dad bod'. 'I'm 5ft1 so any height really.' When asked about her 'claim to fame', the theatre lover said: 'Me and my friends made a Derry Girls TikTok for Halloween and it went a bit viral around Brighton. 'Sometimes I get stopped in the street about it. I've also done Panto.' She will be joined by 11 other contestants hoping to find love in the sun this summer. Love Island starts on Monday June 9th at 9pm on Virgin Media One.
