Bihar CM assures teachers of district choice in transfer postings
Kumar said the Education Department has been instructed to consider these preferences and ensure teachers are placed in their chosen or nearby areas.
He urged teachers to focus on educating children without worry.
In a post on X, Nitish Kumar wrote, "Suggestions are being received from various sources regarding the recent teacher transfers conducted by the Education Department. In the process of reviewing this, I have given clear instructions to the Education Department that for teachers facing issues related to inter-district transfers, options for three districts will be obtained from them, after which their postings will be made in those districts only."
"The task of postings within districts will be carried out by a committee of district officials so that, as far as possible, teachers are posted in their desired blocks or nearby areas. Teachers are very important for the future of children, and therefore, I humbly request that they work diligently for the education of children in Bihar without being anxious about this matter," the post reads.
Earlier on Monday, Nitish Kumar directed the Education Department to prioritise domicile residents in teacher recruitment, starting from the upcoming Teacher Recruitment Examination (TRE-4) in 2025.
The new policy will give preference to Bihar residents in teacher recruitment, ensuring that local candidates have a better chance of securing jobs.
The Teacher Recruitment Examination (TRE-4) will be conducted in 2025, followed by TRE-5 in 2026. The State Teacher Eligibility Test (STET) will be held before TRE-5.
In a post on X, CM Nitish Kumar shared, "Since the formation of the government in November 2005, we have been continuously working to improve the education system. A large number of teachers have been appointed to strengthen the education system. The Education Department has been directed to make necessary amendments to the relevant rules to give priority to the residents (DOMICILE) of Bihar in the recruitment of teachers. This will be implemented from TRE-4 onwards."
The policy is expected to benefit local candidates, providing them with more opportunities in the education sector. The government's efforts to strengthen the education system, including teacher recruitment and STET, aim to enhance the overall quality of education in Bihar.
"TRE-4 will be conducted in the year 2025, and TRE-5 will be conducted in the year 2026. Instructions have also been given to conduct STET before the organisation of TRE-5," the CM further said.

The Gujarat government on Friday finally approved an independent school for the students of Bhuj taluka in Kutch district after the parents, as a boycott of the education system, withdrew 134 children from the Peta Varg (sub-school) in Bharatnagar Pul Patiya village, demanding a separate institution. The development comes in the backdrop of the villagers collecting the School Leaving Certificates (LCs) en masse, almost a fortnight ago, after repeatedly trying to get an independent school for the village with a full-fledged building, a full staff of teachers and associated facilities but in vain. The students had been studying in a decrepit tin-shed community hall, lacking basic infrastructure, in spite of the fact that this sub-school had almost twice the number of students than those enrolled in the main school of Ambedkarnagar Prathmik Shala (72), which is about 2 km away. On August 8, the Directorate of Primary Education, in a letter to the District Primary Education Officer (DPEO) stated: 'The District Primary Education Officer Authority, Bhuj-Kutch, had submitted a proposal for approval to turn a sub-school into an independent school at Bharatnagar, Bhuj. In this regard, an earlier proposal for the same had not been approved… the students used to sit in the lobby of a madrasa. The district Education Department informed us that the parents of the students were taking LCs owing to the absence of an independent school.' The letter said: 'As per the details of the above report, the distance of the said sub-division (sub-school) from the main school is approximately 2 km and at present, land has been allotted by the village leaders for the accommodation of the students, which, after taking into account the affidavit, the District Primary Education Officer will have to ensure that the school has all the necessary facilities. The sub-division (sub-school) is approved as an independent school.' The letter is signed by BD Bariya, the Deputy Director of Primary Education for Gujarat. The Indian Express had on August 8 reported how all 134 students had taken LCs. Earlier, Sikandar Alana Sumra, an activist and community organiser who has been at the forefront of the movement to seek an independent school for the village children, had also offered his own family property to function as a temporary school till the time infrastructure is built by the Education Department in Kutch. District Primary Education Officer (DPEO), Kutch district, Bhupendrasinh Vaghela told the Indian Express: 'We have received the approval for an independent school in Bharatnagar. We had received letters from them (the parents) last year, seeking a new school but they submitted the application late. The parents had raised the same demand this year also but the Directorate asked us to continue it as a sub-school. However, after the villagers started withdrawing their children… the head office approved an independent school.' When asked about the steps ahead, Vaghela added: 'The parents had told us that if they get an independent school, they would enrol their children in it. Now that we have the approval, we will begin the admission process from Monday.' Sharing details about the construction of the new building, the DPEO said: 'We have asked the district administration to take up the matter. After a new school is approved, we need to obtain land from the village, and construct a school there. All these processes are currently underway.'

Congress seeks explanation from Puducherry Chief Minister over non representation of Scheduled Caste community in the Cabinet
Former Chief Minister and senior Congress leader V. Narayanasamy on Saturday demanded an explanation from Chief Minister N. Rangasamy for dropping from the Cabinet two Ministers belonging to the Scheduled Caste community and not choosing a Dalit MLA as replacement in his Ministry. Participating in a demonstration organised by the SC wing of Puducherry Pradesh Congress Committee against lack of Dalit representation in the AINRC-BJP Cabinet here, the Congress leader said two months ago, BJP MLA A. K. Sai J. Saravanan Kumar was asked to resign from the Cabinet. Mr. Kumar's resignation from the Cabinet comes two years after the removal of another Dalit Minister S. Chandira Priyanga from the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) government in the Union Territory. The Chief Minister has so far not given reasons for removing Ms. Priyanga and Mr. Kumar from the Cabinet. 'Of course, the Congress party had raised corruption charges against Mr. Kumar on several occasions. If corruption charges were used as a yardstick for the removal of Mr. Kumar, the Congress had raised corruption charges against the entire Cabinet. The Chief Minister must explain to the public, the reason for the removal of both the Ministers,' the Congress leader said. Bihar STET Aspirants Demand Exam Be Held Before TRE, Hold Protests
Bihar Education Minister Sunil Kumar has said that the STET exam will only be conducted after the vacancies of TRE-04 are sent. Chaos erupted at Dak Bangla Chauraha in Patna, Bihar, on Thursday when police used lathicharge to disperse aspiring teachers protesting over the Secondary Teachers Eligibility Test (STET). The protesters were demanding that the STET be conducted before the Teachers Recruitment Exam (TRE). The STET is a mandatory eligibility test for candidates aspiring to apply for teaching positions in Bihar. Only those who pass it are eligible to apply for government teacher vacancies. Amidst the protests by STET candidates in Patna and the subsequent police lathicharge, Education Minister Sunil Kumar said that the STET exam will only be conducted after the vacancies of TRE-04 are sent. He emphasised that the government has taken several crucial steps to enhance and bring transparency to Bihar's education system. Currently, around four lakh candidates are awaiting the teacher appointment process through BPSC. Conducting the STET exam now would increase the number of pass outs, complicating the selection process further. Kumar also mentioned that future STET exams will be conducted based on the old Bihar Board system. He reiterated that the government is making decisions in the best interest of every candidate and will continue to do so. Additionally, Chief Minister Nitish Kumar has said teachers will now need to provide options for three places to bring transparency to the transfer process and resolve any arising issues. This option system will be implemented in districts facing transfer obstacles. If problems persist, the district-level committee will make the final decision. The aim is to ensure no shortage of teachers in remote districts like Banka and Jamui, so children's education remains unaffected. The new policy will benefit teachers through transfers while strengthening education in remote areas. This step is seen as a crucial initiative towards making the transfer process more equitable and transparent, the CM said. Sunil Kumar also announced that the Education Department will soon make over 6000 appointments on compassionate grounds. Additionally, a proposal has been sent to BPSC for the recruitment of 7000 teachers for Divyang students. He noted that the higher education session is currently running on time, improving the quality of education in colleges and universities. The government will soon transfer funds for uniforms and bicycles directly to students' accounts via DBT (Direct Benefit Transfer). These decisions clearly indicate that the Bihar government is taking concrete steps to improve the state's education system, benefiting students and teachers across all classes.
