Kaizer Chiefs and Orlando Pirates target heading to France
Kaizer Chiefs and Orlando Pirates might be disappointed to hear that a primary transfer target is heading to Ligue 1.
According to Soccer-Laduma , Sekhukhune left-back Vuyo Letlapa is poised for a move to Nice in France's Ligue 1. The 21-year-old has made 22 league appearances this term with four assists.
'There are local teams which have shown interest, and Pirates were believed to be at the forefront to sign him, but apparently the French Ligue 1 side OGC Nice is the one leading now. They are very close to closing the deal. Remember we spoke about European interest before,' said the source.
'Yes, that's what Sekhukhune United are looking at. R20m is what the price is believed to be for Vuyo (Letlapa). And just like they did with Elias Mokwana to Esperance de Tunis, they are including a 30% sell-on clause in the next club agreement on the deal. So, if Nice sells Vuyo, then Sekhukhune United will get 30% from that deal. That's why they are looking at R20m for now,' said the source.
According to Soccer Laduma, Neo Mokoena has joined up with the first team in training. He's unlikely to feature against Kaizer Chiefs in the Nedbank Cup final, but big things are expected of the teenage winger. He'll be eager to follow in the footsteps of outstanding 19-year-old central defender Mbekezeli Mbokazi, who's become a pillar of the Pirates back four.

Former Kaizer Chiefs striker Kanga Nzenza says he once advised Amakhosi to sign Congolese top striker Fiston Mayele, but his plea was left unheard. 'I even mentioned to that I was struggling to reach Bobby Motaung about Mayele because he is always busy. My plea was that Chiefs must sign him. They received my message, but they didn't act on it,' added the retired footballer. 'At the time, he was playing for Yanga in Tanzania, but then a club from Egypt signed him. He's an exceptional player. Whenever he comes to play for the national team, they refer to him as a super sub. 'Whenever he comes on, he changes the game. Look at how Sundowns lost the [Caf] Champions League because of him.' Given how much Mayele earns at Pyramids, Kaizer Chiefs are unlikely to afford his wages. The striker is set to leave the Egyptian club at the end of the season, according to reports.
