CM flags off Tiranga cyclothon for girls from Vidhan Sabha
New Delhi: Chief Minister Rekha Gupta on Tuesday flagged off Tiranga cyclothon for girls from Delhi Legislative As-sembly in Civil Lines to Rajghat. Addressing the participants, Gupta said the true glory of the national flag will be realised when girls achieve complete freedom and that her government is committed to securing a better future for them. The cyclothon, aimed at empowering women, was flagged off by CM Gupta along with Delhi Education Minister Ashish Sood. Meanwhile, the Union Culture Ministry's 'Har Ghar Tiranga Bike Rally', was flagged off by Union Parlia-mentary Affairs Minister Kiren Rijiju, Union Culture Minister Gajendra Singh Shekhawat, Union Minister of State for Defence Sanjay Seth, CM Gupta, and several Members of Parliament. At the bike rally, CM Gupta said, 'Have you seen before 2014, that a Prime Minister is leading people with Tiranga in his hands? Leaders left the Tiranga before Independence. Today, people who keep the copy of the Constitution in their pockets don't have Tiranga in their hands.' 'They are the same people who used to claim that they got the country independent but today the same people don't believe in the country's integrity,' she said. The CM added that 'our lives depend on this Tiranga and the three colours represent the prosperity of the country'. 'Every Indian aspires that our Tiranga remains high and immortal. The sky echoes with the chants of 'Bharat Mata ki Jai' as this Tiranga Yatra is being taken out,' she said. Everyone, right from the MPs to our brave soldiers, is expressing their patriotism. Even 78 years after Independence, our love for our country is continuously increasing with each passing year, the CM said. 'I thank PM Narendra Modi for taking this national festival to every household.' Sood urged citizens not to treat Independence Day as a long weekend. 'We should contribute in keeping our homes and locality clean,' he said. India will celebrate its 79th Independence Day on August 15.

Soldier Killed In Action Near Line Of Control During Pak Infiltration Attempt
A soldier was killed near the Line of Control in Jammu and Kashmir's Uri during a major firefight between Indian and Pakistan forces during an infiltration attempt. According to sources in the Army, infiltrators tried to enter India late on August 12. This was different from a routine infiltration attempt, as the intruders received firing support from the Pakistan Army. Such an infiltration attempt is typically carried out with the support of Pakistan's Border Action Teams, the dirty tricks department of the Pakistan Army. As Indian soldiers retaliated to the infiltration attempt, a gunfight broke out and a soldier succumbed to his injuries. The infiltration attempt was foiled, but the intruders took advantage of the bad weather and managed to escape. An official Army statement on the incident is awaited. This is the first major provocation by Pakistan after the uneasy calm in the aftermath of Operation Sindoor, India's counterstrike to the Pahalgam terror attack that left 26 innocents dead. Following India's targeted airstrikes in Pakistan and Pakistan-Occupied Kashmir and Pakistan's drone attacks along India's western border, the two sides had agreed on a ceasefire after Islamabad reached out to New Delhi. The past couple of months have seen Pakistani leaders make reckless public statements. Pakistan's Army Chief Field Marshal Asim Munir recently made headlines for his threats to nuke India. Speaking in the US, Munir reportedly threatened to take down "half the world" if Pakistan faced an existential threat in a future war with India. India responded that "nuclear sabre-rattling" is Pakistan's "stock-in-trade", and expressed regret that such remarks were made from the soil of a friendly third country. "The international community can draw its own conclusions on the irresponsibility inherent in such remarks, which also reinforces the well-held doubts about the integrity of nuclear command and control in a state where the military is hand-in-glove with terrorist groups," the government said. "India has already made it clear that it will not give in to nuclear blackmail and will continue to take all necessary steps to safeguard its national security," the Ministry of External Affairs said.

Sonia's Name Appeared On Voters' List Before She Became Indian Citizen: BJP Amid Rahul's EC Campaign
BJP's Amit Malviya said: 'Sonia Gandhi's name entered electoral rolls twice without meeting citizenship requirement — first as an Italian citizen in 1980, and then in 1983..." While Congress leader and leader of opposition in the Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi has been raising questions on the Election Commission's (EC) Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has hit back, pointing out how the name of his mother and Congress leader, Sonia Gandhi, was added to the list even before she became an Indian citizen. 'Sonia Gandhi's tryst with India's voters' list is riddled with glaring violations of electoral law. This perhaps explains Rahul Gandhi's fondness for regularising ineligible and illegal voters, and his opposition to the Special Intensive Revision (SIR)," said BJP IT cell chief Amit Malviya in a post on X. 'Her name first appeared on the rolls in 1980 — three years before she became an Indian citizen and while she still held Italian citizenship. At the time, the Gandhi family lived at 1, Safdarjung Road, the official residence of Prime Minister Indira Gandhi. Until then, the voters registered at that address were Indira Gandhi, Rajiv Gandhi, Sanjay Gandhi, and Maneka Gandhi," he added. 'In 1980, the electoral rolls of the New Delhi parliamentary constituency were revised with January 1, 1980, as the qualifying date. During this revision, Sonia Gandhi's name was added, appearing at serial number 388 in polling station 145. This entry was a clear violation of the law, which requires a person to be an Indian citizen to be registered as a voter," he wrote. Vote Chori is an attack on the foundational idea of 'one man, one vote'. A clean voter roll is imperative for free and fair elections. Our demand from the EC is clear – be transparent and release digital voter rolls so that people and parties can audit them. Join us and… — Rahul Gandhi (@RahulGandhi) August 10, 2025 'Following an outcry in 1982, her name was deleted from the list — only to reappear in 1983. But even her reinstatement raised serious questions. In the fresh revision of the electoral rolls that year, Sonia Gandhi was listed at serial number 236 in polling station 140. The qualifying date for registration was January 1, 1983 — yet she was granted Indian citizenship only on April 30, 1983," said Malviya. He said: 'In other words, Sonia Gandhi's name entered the electoral rolls twice without meeting the basic citizenship requirement — first as an Italian citizen in 1980, and then again in 1983, months before she legally became a citizen of India. We are not even asking why it took her 15 years after marrying Rajiv Gandhi to accept Indian citizenship. If this isn't blatant electoral malpractice, what is?" Gandhi last week launched a campaign against what he called 'vote chori" by the EC in collusion with the BJP through the SIR. He gave several examples to substantiate his allegations that votes are being stolen, there are duplicate voters, those with fake and invalid addresses, bulk voters or single address voters, voters with invalid photos and those misusing Form 6 of new voters. He alleged it was institutionalised theft and that SIR would lead to the disenfranchisement of large numbers of citizens, particularly vulnerable groups like minorities, who might struggle to produce the strict documentation required. As Opposition MPs wore T-shirts with messages on '124-year-old voter Minta Devi" on Bihar voters' list' on Tuesday, Gandhi said, 'This is not just one seat, there are lots of seats. It is being done on the national level, systematically. The Election Commission knows it, we know it. We are protecting the Constitution. The Election Commission is not doing its duty of enforcing 'One Man, One Vote' which is the foundation of the Constitution. There are countless cases like Minta Devi. We are only protecting the Constitution. We will keep doing it. There are unlimited cases. We won't stop. Picture abhi baaki hai."
