Warm-up venues confirmed for ICC Women's T20 World Cup 2026
While the exact details of the warm-up fixtures are yet to be released, the three venues - that are rich in cricketing pedigree and have played a major role in enhancing the profile of women's cricket in recent times - will all host matches prior to the 10th edition of the T20 World Cup that will be hosted by England and Wales next year.
Eight of the 12 teams that will compete in the expanded T20 World Cup have already been determined, with the final four sides to be locked in once the Women's T20 World Cup Qualifier has been completed early next year.
The 12 sides will battle it out in 33 matches across 24 days and at seven venues in England and Wales in 2026 and all teams will be aiming to match the exploits of New Zealand when the White Ferns won their first T20 World Cup title in Dubai last year.
The fixtures and the groups for the T20 World Cup were revealed last month, with England to host Sri Lanka in the tournament opener in Birmingham on June 12 ahead of the final at Lord's on July 5.
Group 1 features multiple-time champions Australia, 2024 finalists South Africa, Asian heavyweights India and Pakistan, along with two teams from the Global Qualifier.
Group 2 includes hosts England, defending champions New Zealand, Sri Lanka, former winners West Indies and the other two teams from the Global Qualifier.
The seven venues that will be used during the event are Edgbaston, Hampshire Bowl, Headingley, Old Trafford, The Oval, Bristol County Ground and Lord's. (ANI)

Anantjeet emerges Asian skeet champion
Asian Games silver medallist Anantjeet Singh Naruka emerged the Asian champion in skeet as he beat Mansour Alrashidi of Kuwait 57-56 in the 16th Asian shooting championship in Shymkent, Kazakhstan, on Wednesday. After the silver in the Asian championship in Kuwait last year, it was a splendid elevation to the gold for the 25-year-old Anantjeet who had finished fourth in the Paris Olympics in mixed skeet with Maheshwari Chauhan. Maheshwari herself missed a medal in women's skeet and placed fourth. However, along with Ganemat Sekhon and Raiza Dhillon, she won the team bronze behind China and Kazakhstan. In junior mixed air pistol, Vanshika Chaudhary and Jonathan Antony won the gold by beating the qualification topper Korean team 16-14. The other Indian pair of Rashmika Sahgal and Kapil Bainsla did shoot the third best qualification score of 576, but was ineligible to fight for a medal. Gamberya Gowda and Girish Gupta bagged the junior mixed team gold, by beating Iran 16-14. Kanak and Pankaj shot the second best qualification score of 569, but were ineligible to compete for a medal. In the main mixed pistol event, Suruchi Phogat and Saurabh Chaudhary won one of the two bronze medals by beating Chinese Taipei 17-9. China beat Korea for the gold 16-12. BCCI above national interest? Aditya Thackeray on India vs Pakistan at Asia Cup
Shiv Sena (UBT) leader Aaditya Thackeray on Wednesday wrote to Union Sports Minister Mansukh Mandaviya against a proposed match between India and Pakistan in the Asia Cup and asked whether the BCCI is above the national letter said many nations have been isolated in sports over a cause that is for the greater good of humanity. Thackeray is truly a shameful act, when Pakistan has backed out of playing hockey in India, citing security reasons, that the BCCI plays Pakistan for selfish interest, the former Maharashtra minister two marquee India versus Pakistan games will be held in Dubai during the upcoming Asia Cup, which is scheduled to start in the UAE from September and Pakistan will square off on September 14 in Dubai and one more time, potentially on September 21, at the same venue. ICC issues clarification after Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli mysteriously disappear from ODI rankings
Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli, who remain active in the ODI format after retiring from T20I and Test cricket over the last one year, were ranked second and fourth respectively in the ICC rankings earlier this month. Their sudden disappearance from the rankings list, however, was met with confusion among followers of the sport. Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma were among the top-five ODI batters in the world earlier this month before their names suddenly disappeared from the ICC rankings list. Reuters The International Cricket Council (ICC) issued a clarification after Indian batting stalwarts Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma mysteriously disappeared from the ODI batting rankings that was released on Wednesday. The Dubai-based governing body for the sport confirmed that it was indeed a technical glitch that had resulted in the two modern-era superstars getting removed from the list. 'There was an error in our rankings tables today, but it has been rectified,' an ICC spokesperson told Hindustan Times. India Test captain Shubman Gill, recently appointed T20I vice-captain during the BCCI's Asia Cup squad announcement, leads the standings with 784 rating points while Rohit and Pakistan star Babar Azam occupy the next two spots with 756 and 739 points respectively. Kohli (736) and New Zealand all-rounder Daryl Mitchell (720) complete the top five. Shreyas Iyer, meanwhile, is the fourth Indian in the top-10, occupying the 8th spot with 704 points. What the ICC's rules state on player rankings The ICC's rules state that a player can be removed from the top-100 in the rankings list if they have not played a match within the qualifying period – which stands at 12-15 months for Tests and 9-12 months for white-ball formats ODIs and T20Is. A player will also be removed from the ICC rankings if they have retired from international cricket. If they have quit a specific format then his/her name will be removed from the corresponding rankings and will continue to appear in other lists. With only five months having passed since the Men in Blue's victory over New Zealand in the final in Dubai, there's plenty of time before the Ro-Ko pair are officially removed from the rankings list.
