PGA Tour 2026 schedule unveiled: Trump gets back in picture with Doral event
ATLANTA – President Donald Trump is back in business with the PGA Tour in 2026. The Tour announced its schedule for next year on Tuesday and it includes a return to Trump Doral's Blue Monster near Miami in May for a new signature event to be called – for now – the Miami Championship. It is being announced without a title sponsor but Golfweek sources say one is expected to be announced in the coming months, well before the tournament. Doral was a longtime PGA Tour stop Doral was a longtime Tour host until it was dumped from the schedule in 2016 when title sponsor Cadillac elected to end ties with the Tour and the tournament and a replacement couldn't be found there. Instead, the Tour moved the event south of the border, which became the VidantaWorld Mexico Open. With the introduction of the Miami Championship to the regular season schedule, the Mexico Open will now be contested as part of the FedEx Cup Fall. One event has dropped off the schedule: the Barracuda Championship in Truckee, Calif., which has been played opposite the British Open in recent years. Trump courses have been used on multiple occasions for LIV Golf events, including at Trump Doral. The President attempted to help negotiations between the Tour and LIV on two occasions earlier this year but nothing came to fruition. The Miami Championship gives the Tour nine signature events for 2026, up one from the previous two years. It includes a stretch of two majors and four signature events in a span of seven weeks, beginning with the Masters in April through the PGA Championship in May. Full PGA Tour schedule has adjustments The FedEx Cup regular season features a total of 35 official FedEx Cup events and begins in January with The Sentry (Jan. 5-11) in Maui, Hawaii. Notable adjustments to the schedule include The Genesis Invitational returning to The Riviera Country Club in Pacific Palisades, California – it was held at Torrey Pines last year due to California wildfires – and the Truist Championship (May 4-10) returning to Quail Hollow Club, after hosting the 2025 PGA Championship. Schedule changes include the Tour spending consecutive weeks in the Dallas/Fort Worth area with THE CJ Cup Byron Nelson (May 18-24) and Charles Schwab Challenge (May 25-31), while the Corales Puntacana Championship (from mid-April to July 13-19) and the Rocket Classic (from late June to July 27-Aug. 2) will shift dates on the calendar. Trump Doral back on a PGA Tour schedule crowded with big tournaments
ATLANTA (AP) — Trump National Doral is back on the PGA Tour schedule next year as a signature event that is sure to test how often the top golfers want to play during an extraordinary spring of five big tournaments in a six-week stretch. Doral long was considered the start of the Florida swing, a can't-miss event as the PGA Tour began attracting international stars. Next year it will be a $20 million signature event the first weekend in May, part of a stretch that starts with the Masters, ends with the PGA Championship and has three signatured events in the four weeks in between. That also means players not eligible for those big events would have only two tournaments to play — one of them with a minimal purse — in that six-week stretch. "We're excited to showcase the game's greatest players competing at golf's most iconic venues,' said Brian Rolapp, the tour's new CEO. There's virtually no change from the 2025 schedule except for a few tournaments changing dates, the Mexico Open moving to the fall and moving the opposite-field event in the Dominican Republic from March (against Bay Hill) to July (against the British Open). The PGA Tour lost the Barracuda Championship in Truckee, California, which had been opposite the British Open. It was the only tournament that used the modified Stableford scoring system. Doral first became part of the PGA Tour schedule in 1962. It became a World Golf Championship in 2007, and then the PGA Tour struggled to find a title sponsor when President Donald Trump bought the resort. It moved away from Trump Doral to Mexico City after 2016, prompting Trump — the presumed Republican nominee at the time — to say, 'I hope they have kidnapping insurance.' The famed 'Blue Monster' at Trump Doral then became a site for Saudi-funded LIV Golf each of the last four years. Miami is not part of the LIV schedule for 2026, although his Trump National outside Washington will be used. The spring stretch isn't the only busy part of the schedule. The PGA Tour season begins a week later on Jan. 8 at Kapalua, giving players a little more time after the holidays to get ready. That means the WM Phoenix Open, which prefers to end on Super Bowl Sunday, will be Feb. 5-8. The AT&T Pebble Beach moves back a week followed by the Genesis Invitational, both $20 million signature events. Previously, the Mexico Open was after the West Coast Swing, a week before the start of the Florida Swing. Now the Cognizant Classic in Palm Beach Gardens, Florida, will follow two signature events at Pebble Beach and Riviera, and precede two more big events in the Arnold Palmer Invitational and The Players Championship. Scottie Scheffler does not play the Truist Championship in early May because he wants to support his hometown events in the Dallas area. The question for the PGA Tour is how many other players will not want to play that much amid the first two majors of the year. In another move, the Rocket Classic in Detroit goes from the last week in June — two weeks after the U.S. Open — to the first weekend in August, two weeks after the British Open. ___

PGA Tour releases 2026 schedule: Doral returns; signature series expands
The Blue Monster at Trump National Doral will return to the PGA Tour schedule for the first time in a decade, expanding the circuit's signature slate to nine tournaments next year. The Tour announced its 2026 schedule Tuesday with a few significant adjustments, including a return to Doral, which hosted an event between 1962-2016. The Miami Championship will be played April 30-May 3, replacing the Mexico Open which will be moved to the fall portion of the schedule (yet to be released). Doral's Blue Monster hosted a LIV Golf event from 2022 through this year. Continuing with the calendar-year schedule, the new season will begin in Maui with the signature event Sentry, Jan. 8-11. The one notable West Coast swing change is the WM Phoenix Open and the AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am swapping places, with the Scottsdale event going first. Pebble will now be followed by fellow signature event The Genesis Invitational, which returns to Riviera Country Club after a one-year absence because of the L.A.-area wildfires. The Florida swing remains unchanged — with the Cognizant Classic, Arnold Palmer Invitational, Players Championship and Valspar Championship in March — followed by the run-up to the Masters at the Texas Children's Houston Open and Valero Texas Open. Between the season's first two majors, there will be three signature events in four weeks: the RBC Heritage, Miami Championship and Truist Championship (up from two during that stretch in '25). The Truist will return to Quail Hollow after a one-off at Philadelphia Cricket Cub while Quail hosted the PGA. The Wanamaker Trophy will be awarded next May at Aronimink Golf Club in Pennsylvania, followed by another Texas double in the CJ Cup Byron Nelson and the Charles Schwab Challenge. The two had been separated by the PGA in recent years. The summer schedule is similar to 2025, with the Corales Puntacana now being held opposite The Open and the Rocket Classic moving to late July. The Wyndham Championship will again be the regular-season finale, leading into the three-event FedExCup playoffs, which will conclude Aug. 30 at the Tour Championship (which appears will have the same format as this year).
