'I will end your life': Knights star targeted by vile abuse, death threat

Knights winger James Schiller has been subjected to a death threat and abhorrent abuse on social media after Newcastle's dramatic 26-22 win over Manly on Thursday night.
Schiller took to his private Instagram account to expose comments from a supposed fan after the game.
The fan sent Schiller a direct message and told him to "count your days c--t I will end your f---ing life".
The Knights are aware of the incident and have called a press conference with coach Adam O'Brien for later this morning. The NRL Integrity United will also monitor the situation and the NSW Police may be asked to investigate given the nature of the threats.
It's the second time in 12 months Schiller has put the spotlight on unacceptable abuse of players. The incident on Thursday night comes almost exactly 12 months after Schiller revealed he had been subjected to foul abuse while playing for the Canberra Raiders following a post-match interview.
At the time he posted a screenshot with the words: "Footy bra" after an Instagram follower took aim after a Fox Sports interview. "You're a f---ing gayc--t ... worst post-match interview I've ever seen."
This time the abuse was more targeted and Schiller decided to expose it. His Knights teammates shared his post on social media.
"Count your days c--t I will end your f---ing life," the user said.
"Doesn't make up for it even though you won.
"5 errors, 2 penalties, 1 six again and a partridge in a pear tree I hope Dane jams his c--- down your throat and you choke and die."
By his own admission, Schiller had a disappointing first half at McDonald Jones Stadium to the point where Knights coach Adam O'Brien switched him positions at half-time.
But moving back to his usual position of right wing from left centre, the 23-year-old played a starring role in Newcastle's epic comeback, scoring a try and setting up another as the Knights came from 16-0 down at the break to win a thriller in golden-point extra time.
The Knights have been contacted for comment.
The incident came after Knights coach Adam O'Brien took a swipe at fans, who booed his team off when they trailed 16-0 at half-time.
"I know the scoreline is not what they want, but to boo the effort that went into that first half, from a really young team, the people that booed don't know anything about rugby league.
"It's really disappointing," O'Brien said.
"They're probably the ones that cheered at the end too.
"I thought that first half, we defended our hearts out. You've got to remember, there's a really, really young footy team there against a very good opposition ... You saw what they did last week to a pretty full-strength Brisbane team. They've got some dangerous players there.
"We made a few errors leading into half-time that gassed us a little bit ... but a tremendous effort in the second half. I think we only made the two errors and there was plenty of ball movement.
"I know people are disappointed with us, but they're trying their backsides off. We don't have a front-rower available. A play-one or play-two front-rower."
