Fortnite update delay pushes back Star Wars content

Daily Mirror15-05-2025
The fight to get Fortnite back on the Apple App Store may have just doomed players to another day without new content, as a new Fortnite update delay is revealed.
A new Fortnite update delay has struck, and the game is still struggling to return to Apple's App Store.
It seemed as though Fortnite 's Galactic Battle season had been putting all of its cards on the table. After all, the skins in the Fortnite Chapter 6 Season 3 Battle Pass were all incredibly well signposted, and Fortnite 35.10's early patch notes have all been revealed on the game's blog, announcing the weekly content rollouts that players have been expecting for the entirety of the mini-season. It's exactly this that makes a new Fortnite update delay all the more fascinating.

Players were ready for a new update to hit the game this morning, delivering all of the backstage content that the game needed to roll out the next two weekly waves of content. But, even as Chewbacca arrives in the Item Shop, it seems that it simply isn't here, with the Epic Games team revealing that the update simply isn't here yet. And it might have something to do with its ongoing headbutting with Apple.

Fortnite update delay
Epic Games and the @FortniteStatus Twitter account have revealed that the incoming Fortnite update 35.10 has been delayed by a day, in the short run-up to its start. Revealed yesterday, the Fortnite update delay has squeezed the new patch to Friday, May 16, with very little forewarning from the company.
The news of the Fortnite update delay came as a shock to many, but it seems that there could be a reason for this after a tweet from Epic Games boss Tim Sweeney, who responded to a claim from leaker @ShiinaBR that there was no movement on Fortnite's Apple review progress. 'We need to release a weekly Fortnite update with new content this Friday, and all platforms must update simultaneously,' Sweeney says. 'So we have pulled the previous Fortnite version submitted to Apple App Review last Friday, and we have submitted a new version for review.'
It seems as though this could be a reason for the update facing a delay, as games are expected to pass review on the App Store in between 24 and 48 hours, while Fortnite's first-submitted build was waiting for over 100 hours. There is no publicised reason for this, but after the long, brutal legal battle that Epic Games and Apple have been locked in for many years, it doesn't come as much of a surprise. If the game needs to be in the same state across the board, it makes sense to give all versions of the game a little more time to breathe.
It's just another day to wait for new Fortnite content, and if it means that more players will have easy access to the title as a result, then it's probably a net good for the game. Here's hoping there's no more funny business from the App Store; otherwise, we could be in for another Fortnite update delay, and nobody wants that.

Fortnite Gorillaz Outfits and tracks are on the way as the band is leaked for Fortnite Festival

A new Fortnite Gorillaz crossover is on the way, with two members of the virtual band set to appear in the Festival Pass Fortnite Festival is set to become a lot more raucous as Gorillaz has been leaked as the game's latest headliner, with two members of the band featuring in its Festival Pass. ‌ The launch of Fortnite Festival has ushered in a host of superstars, but its vibe has been somewhat inconsistent. While Billie Eilish and Lady Gaga were fantastic additions, we didn't truly grasp the potential fun of the rhythm game and its accompanying Battle Pass until Hatsune Miku made her entrance. Her debut was spot-on for the game, and Sabrina Carpenter's subsequent appearance did wonders for the female fans that simply haven't been matched by Bruno Mars' arrival. ‌ The Fortnite Festival Pass has been splendid for players already enrolled in the Fortnite Crew subscription, but it has also been a rather brilliant gift to a different type of player. Now that Fortnite has evolved into more of a platform than a standalone game, particularly following the unveiling of the Blitz Royale mode and its Blitz Mega City update, it means that more players are flocking to it for things other than the usual battle royale action, and currently, Festival mode stands as the top official rhythm game. ‌ The turnover of its pass might be subject to the caprices of the game, but with a plethora of Jam Tracks to purchase and unlock, you could play endlessly without getting bored if Rock Band and Guitar Hero were your childhood favourites. However, the next Fortnite Festival season is just around the corner, and without any announcement to spice up the rather lacklustre Bruno Mars period, players are left wondering what's in store. Fortunately, insiders have come forward with an announcement that virtually confirms the next big names for the mode. That's right - the Fortnite Gorillaz takeover is imminent. Fortnite Gorillaz Festival leak Fresh leaks suggest that a new Fortnite Gorillaz collaboration is on the horizon to take centre stage as the latest Fortnite Festival headliners. While we're still awaiting official confirmation, new images of two band members, Murdoc and Russel, have been unveiled as they will appear in-game. Their appearances follow the cel-shaded style common in many of their 3D music video appearances, and according to @Hypex, their bandmates 2-D and Noodle will feature in the Item Shop. This would mark a departure from the Metallica Festival Pass, which saw all four band members included in the Pass, with variants in the Item Shop. But honestly, it's hard to imagine that was a big earner. After all, I've never seen anyone (or at least, anyone else) battling foes dressed as Lars Ulrich these days. Artwork for the game has also unveiled Murdoc's Bass and a snare drum Back Bling, along with a full drum kit in the Festival Pass (via @iFireMonkey). With this Fortnite Gorillaz takeover, we can anticipate a slew of Jam Tracks joining the game, as well as additional Item Shop cosmetics yet to be disclosed. We'll gain more insight into the crossover when it's officially announced by Epic Games, but overall, this feels like a match made in heaven. Digital bands seem to thrive in Fortnite, particularly after Hatsune Miku's stellar appearance. Here's hoping this Fortnite Gorillaz crossover is more Plastic Beach than Humanz.
