Month-long Shravani Mela inaugurated in Jharkhand's Deoghar

Deoghar (Jharkhand), Jul 10 (PTI) The month-long Shravani Mela, one of the largest religious congregations in the country's eastern region, was inaugurated in Jharkhand's Deoghar district on Thursday.
'The month-long fair will be celebrated in a grand way. Efforts have been made to conduct the fair hassle-free for lakhs of devotees by using technologies and reducing human intervention,' the state tourism minister said after inaugurating the fair.
The administration is using AI-Chatbot, radio-frequency identification (RFID), face recognition cameras and AI-based cameras for holding a 'smooth and incident-free fair in Deoghar', the minister said.
Giving details of the technologies being utilised in the fair, a senior Deoghar administration official said an AI-based integrated mela control room has been set up.
He said 200 AI-based cameras, a chatbot for information feedback and helpline, an AI-based traffic management system, around 700 regular cameras, 10 AI-based drones, around 40 televisions and face recognition cameras have been installed, he said.
High-quality ANPR (automatic number plate recognition) cameras at six locations, a QR-based complaint system, a location-based attendance system and a digital pavilion have also been in place, the official said.
Lakhs of devotees from various parts of the country and abroad visit Deoghar during the month of 'Shravan' and offer their prayers at the famous Baba Baidyanath Dham temple here.
Devotees start their 105-km journey on foot to Deoghar after taking a holy dip in the Ganga river in Bihar's Sultanganj.
The journey ends with the pilgrims pouring the holy water on the 'shivalingam' at the Baba Baidyanath Dham temple.
On average, 35-40 lakh devotees visit the fair every year.
Two states—Jharkhand and Bihar— work in coordination to make the event a success, another official said.
The Deoghar administration has made elaborate preparations, ranging from crowd management to lodging facilities for devotees, he said.
Drinking water, toilets, electricity, cleanliness, and other facilities have been made for the pilgrims, the official said.

Jharkhands Jamshedpur to soon get modern interstate bus terminal
Ranchi, Aug 10 (PTI) A state-of-the-art interstate bus terminal with modern transportation facilities will soon come up in Jharkhand's industrial city Jamshedpur, an official said on Sunday. The bus terminal will be built on 13 acres of land near Mango Dimna Chowk at an estimated cost of Rs 145.24 crore, he said. Urban Development Minister Sudivya Kumar has given in-principle approval for the project to be developed under the Hybrid Annuity Mode (HAM), according to an official release. The proposal will soon be submitted for administrative approval, it said. The Jharkhand Urban Infrastructure Development Company (JUIDCO) has been tasked with implementing the project, a blueprint of which was prepared by a Karnataka-based agency, it said. The five-storey terminal building will have two basements and three floors, while the commercial building will feature one basement and three floors, the release said. The complex will include 50 parking spaces, 23 alighting bus bays, parking for 300 cars and 350 bikes, an office and warehouse for the water resources department, sewage treatment plant, water treatment plant, effluent treatment plant and internal road arrangements, it said. The first floor will feature an air-conditioned waiting hall with 80 seats, a 120-bed passenger dormitory, a 60-bed driver dormitory, a food court, shops, a security office, a travel admin office and toilets, the release said. The ground floor will have 23 bus bays, 18 ticket counters, a cloakroom, a logistics centre, a restaurant, public toilets and a food court. 1 2 Jamshedpur: The plan for setting up an inter-state bus terminus at Dimna in Mango has been put on fast track by the state urban development department. With state urban development minister Sudivya Kumar giving his in-principle approval to implement the Rs 145 crore project on hybrid annuity model (HAM), principal secretary Sunil Kumar on Saturday asked the department officials to ensure that the detailed project report (DPR) gets administrative clearance soon. The Jharkhand Urban Infrastructure Development Corporation (JUIDCO) has been given the responsibility for the execution of the project while Infrastructure Development Corporation Karnataka (IDEK) is preparing the DPR. The proposed terminus complex will be spread over 13 acres near NH-33. The two-storey complex will have five terminal buildings, a commercial building and basements. There would be 23 busway lanes for dedicated routes and parking facilities for 350 cars and 350 motorcycles at any given time. The terminal will have 18 ticket counters, cloak room, logistic center restaurant, food park besides 40 shops, officials said. An air conditioned waiting hall will be built to house 80 passengers at once along with 120 dormitory beds for passengers. A dormitory of 60 beds will also be built for the bus drivers.
