South Africa's U20 national team, Amajita, made football history on Sunday night by securing their first-ever CAF U20 Africa Cup of Nations title, defeating Morocco 1-0 in a tense and tactical final at the Cairo International Stadium
This long-awaited triumph came 28 years after South Africa's last appearance in the final, which also featured Morocco – and ended in defeat. This time, however, the script was flipped as coach Raymond Mdaka's side claimed glory in dramatic fashion.
With their victory, Amajita sent a powerful message to the continent: South Africa's youth football has arrived. From defensive discipline to explosive attacking moments, this generation has shown it can compete – and win – on Africa's biggest stage.
The focus now shifts to the FIFA U20 World Cup, where South Africa will aim to carry their continental momentum to the global arena.

But the Belgian would no doubt have been pleased with some of the players he handed debuts to in a friendly international intended for blooding new players. Khulumani Ndamani walked away with the man of the match award in his maiden appearance for the country's senior national team and expressed a desire to continue wearing the gold and green in future. On a night when the regular Bafana players were absent, the squad missed all the Mamelodi Sundowns players who usually make up the bulk of the starting line-up, the newbies gave as good as they got against a pretty physical Tanzania outfit that was clearly out to impress. Guided by the likes of Patrick Maswanganyi and Oswin Appolis who have been in the squad for a while now, Bafana controlled proceedings and asked questions of the visitors early on with the latter seeing his attempt that was headed for goal cleared just before it crossed the line on ten minutes. It could well have been that he was playing in the city where he plays his club football because Appollis was bafana's livewire and had two other chances, one a shot late in the half which the Tanzanian goalkeeper saved with consummate ease. He then blasted a free kick against the wall shortly after the break. Another Bafana 'oldie' Thalenthe Mbatha disturbed the bats' flying pattern with a rugby style shot late in the first half as the hosts looked to make their dominance count for a goal. Besides Ndanmane, Broos also handed new caps to Deano Van Rooyen and Simphiwe Selepe from the onset while goalkeeper Renaldo Leaner came on for Ricardo Goss during the second half. Relebohile Mofokeng came on late in the game and almost scored when he lobbed the advanced goalkeeper but only succeeded in landing the ball on the roof of the net. Tanzania played a pretty physical match with some crunching tackles that left Broos jumping up and down the sidelines in anger. He would have, however, been pleased with the exercise of handing out new caps in a bid to grow his pool of players ahead of the upcoming World Cup qualifiers in September as wella s the Africa Cup of Nations finals set to take place in Morocco at the end of the year. Bafana are due to play against Mozambique at the same venue on Tuesday.

Orlando Pirates full list: All the released players so far
Jose Riveiro's Orlando Pirates squad has lost four players since his departure to Al Ahly, and as we edge closer to the winter transfer window. The club known as the Buccaneers have reportedly signed the likes of Sinoxolo Kwayiba, Masindi Nemtajela and Tshepho Mashiloane. The new faces are subject to official announcements as of 1 July. In the meantime, the club has announced some rather surprising departures. The list includes Innocent Maela, Miguel Timm, Thabiso Monyane and Paseko Mako. While Maela and Timm were announced last week, the Sea Robbers have now confirmed Monyane and Mako are also leaving the Soweto giants. 'We bid farewell to Paseka Mako and Thabiso Monyane,' the club said via social media. 'The Club thanks them for their commitment and contribution to Orlando Pirates. Wishing them the very best in their next chapters,' the note added. In the meantime, the club is still expected to say goodbye to a few more names. Possible names include Zakhele Lepasa and Bandile Shandu. BREAKING: Orlando Pirates release TWO defensive stars!
Orlando Pirates have officially released both Paseka Mako and Thabiso Monyane, the club said in a statement. Mako and Monyane were among the longest serving members of the current Pirates squad. The news of Monyane's departure doesn't come as a shock after it emerged on Friday that he had been offered to Kaizer Chiefs. For Mako, this is a bit surprising given the fact that he was considered one of the senior members of the Pirates squad.
