Mohit Suri's film Saiyaara, starring Ahaan Panday and Aneet Padda, has captivated audiences. Suri is married to a former actress who has worked with John Abraham and Emraan Hashmi.
Filmmaker Mohit Suri's Saiyaara, which served as a launchpad for Ahaan Panday and Aneet Padda, has become a rage. The film has struck a chord with audiences of all ages, with a fan going to the extreme of walking into the theatre with an IV drip in hand. By now, most of us know quite a bit about Ahaan and Aneet – but did you know Mohit Suri is married to a popular actress from the mid-2000s? His sister, too, was the lead star of a superhit film alongside Kunal Kemmu.
For those unversed, Saiyaara director Mohit Suri is married to Udita Goswami, who has appeared in hit films such as Paap (2003) with John Abraham and Zeher (2005), Aksar (2006) with Emraan Hashmi. Her last film was Diary Of A Butterfly in 2012, post which, she decided to quit films forever and focus on her marriage and family. She is now exploring new feats as a DJ.
When did Mohit Suri and Udita Goswami get married?
Mohit and Udita dated for nine years before getting married in 2013. They are parents to two children – a daughter and a son. Also, Mohit and Alia Bhatt share a close family bond as first cousins. Mohit's mother, Heena, is the sister of filmmaker Mahesh Bhatt, making him Alia's maternal cousin. Interestingly, Mohit belongs to the previous generation, being older than Alia. This makes Udita, Alia's sister-in-law.
Mohit and Emraan Hashmi, too, are second cousins, both belonging to the prominent Bhatt family. Mohit's uncle is Mahesh Bhatt, while Emraan's father, Anwar Hashmi, happens to be Mahesh Bhatt's brother-in-law.
A year after their wedding, Udita appeared in an interview and said that she is enjoying quitting the world of glam and living the life of a housewife. An IANS report quoted her saying, 'I am enjoying being housewife, honestly. I know I am gaining weight, doing all of that but I have not had the pleasure of doing this ever before so I am enjoying it."
Mohit Suri, too, once said that he owes his success to his wife. 'Udita is the reason we are a couple because she works much harder in this relationship than I do. She lets me be the person who I am in every way and understands how I am, which means a lot to me. I can't take away her contribution towards my success," Suri told IANS in a group interview.
'She tells me 'Mohit, be the way you are. Don't try to change yourself'. She does not have the pressure of proving something to be a director's wife. She never tells me 'Take this much money'. She handles all my money and gives me pocket money," he added.

Mohit Suri's sister made her Bollywood debut in Kalyug
Remember the pretty girl who swooned fans over with her simplicity in Jiya Dhadak Dhadak song in Kalyug, co-starring Kunal Kemmu? She is Smilie Suri, Mohit Suri's younger sister. He launched her in the film, however, her career didn't take off as expected. She then sparsely appeared in films and also worked in TV and OTT shows.
On the work front front, Mohit Suri has directed superhit films such as Aashiqui 2, Ek Villain, Murder 2, and Malang, and now Saiyaara.

The total screen count in its second week is likely to be higher than its screen count on the first day. The Mohit Suri movie has the potential to dent the box office performance of Marvel Studios' superhero movie The Fantastic Four. The Pedro Pascal starrer would have gotten a wider release if Saiyaara didn't become a sensation in India. But now, things have changed and the Hollywood release might have to face the wrath. Fantastic Four will have to prove its worth and open to a superlative word-of-mouth to sail through a successful theatrical run at the Indian box office. The Fantastic Four First Steps India Advance Bookings: Marvel's biggie sells 40,000 tickets from BookMyShow, 1 day out

The Fantastic Four: First Steps, directed by Matt Shakman and starring Vanessa Kirby, Pedro Pascal, Joseph Quinn, Julia Garner, Ebon Moss-Bachrach and others, is all set to release on 25th July, 2025 worldwide. The hype for the movie is high in the domestic market and reasonable in its international markets. It is expected to take a near USD 200 million global start and that would be seen in a good way for the film featuring Marvel's first family. The Fantastic Four: First Steps Has Sold 40,000 Tickets From BookMyShow, With 1 Day To Go The India opening of The Fantastic Four: First Steps looks to be slightly underwhelming considering the fact that it is the last film before Avengers: Doomsday. The film has sold 40,000 tickets from BookMyShow a day prior to its release and it will target to hit 100,000 tickets by the end of the day before release. Superman had sold around 110,000 tickets, to open at slighly over Rs 6 crore and The Fantastic Four: First Steps shall target the same. Advance Bookings Of The Fantastic Four: First Steps Have Been Adversely Affected By The Saiyaara Wave The Fantastic Four: First Steps' advance bookings have been adversely affected by the Saiyaara wave. The fight for more screens continues. Till evening today, the bookings for the movie were open only in IMAX and other premium formats, and not the regular screens. If not for the screen sharing issues, the Marvel movie would be targetting an opening day of over Rs 8 crore. Regardless, these issues should hopefully be sorted over the weekend. The Fantastic Four: First Steps Will Look To Continue The Good Streak Of Hollywood Movies In India Hollywood movies have been doing well in India. The last one month has had one blockbuster in the form of F1, 1 solid hit in Jurassic World: Rebirth and 1 decent performer in Superman. The Fantastic Four First Steps will look to do better than Superman. But it is not going to be easy as week 2 shall again see a screen-sharing issue as two able Bollywood films, Son Of Sardaar 2 and Dhadak 2 will try their best to get good enough screens for themselves, while Saiyaara will continue to hold fort. The Fantastic Four: First Steps In Theatres From 25th July The Fantastic Four: First Steps hits theatres on 25th July. The tickets for the movie can be booked online or from the box office. Stay tuned to Pinkvilla for more updates.

Shaan R Grover says playing a red flag in Saiyaara was emotionally unsettling: 'I'm nothing like him...'

In the youthful romantic drama 'Saiyaara,' the actor Shaan R Grover plays the emotionally distant character Mahesh Iyer. He recently talked about how playing such a morally dubious character affected him off-screen. The actor acknowledged in an open interview that Mahesh's actions, particularly when he was around women, made him feel totally uncomfortable and actually disturbed him while filming. Shaan says Mahesh's toxic traits clashed with his own values In conversation with Filmygyan, Grover explained that stepping into Mahesh's shoes wasn't just creatively challenging, it also stirred discomfort on a personal level. While he didn't feel the need to prove that he's different from Mahesh, he said it was hard playing someone so emotionally negligent and detached. According to Shaan, portraying a character who ghosts his fiancée and walks away without explanation made him uneasy, especially knowing that some viewers might associate him with such behavior. He told Filmygyan that he hoped people would hate the character, as Mahesh deserved to be criticized for how he treated his partner but added that the possibility of being personally linked to that toxicity unsettled him during the shoot. About Saiyaara: heartbreak, redemption, and music Released in July 2025, 'Saiyaara' follows Krish Kapoor played by Ahaan Panday , a gifted but emotionally wounded musician, and Vaani Batra played by Aneet Padda, a journalist healing from the heartbreak of being abandoned by Mahesh Iyer just before their wedding. The movie is directed by Mohit Suri and backed by Yash Raj Films; the romantic drama explores how two broken people find healing and love in the middle of grief, guilt, and creative reinvention. Shaan's character acts as the impetus for Vaani's journey from betrayal to empowerment. The film's music, composed by Amaal Mallik and Rochak Kohli, has become a hit, with tracks like 'Barbaad,' 'Tum Ho Toh,' and the title song 'Saiyaara' resonating deeply across platforms. Audience reactions: hate that feels like praise In spite of the emotional challenge of the role, Shaan said he found validation in viewers' reactions. He's received messages from fans who told him they 'hated' Mahesh but added that their anger came from how convincingly he played the character.
