Huge Max Branning update as Oscar shares news on returning EastEnders legend

Metro17 hours ago
Oscar Branning (Pierre Moullier) has discussed his estrangement from dad Max (Jake Wood) in EastEnders.
The newcomer burst onto our screens earlier this week, fresh out of a youth detention centre after being found guilty of joyriding, and revealing to sister Lauren (Jacqueline Jossa) that he had made a number of enemies.
One of the lads, Mike (Tai Hilferink), had petrol bombed his neighbour's house and was now seeking further revenge.
Now living with Lauren and Peter Beale (Thomas Law), Oscar has proven himself to be quite the windup merchant.
In tonight's episodes, he was sprawled naked across the sofa when his new guardians strolled in. They were mortified, and demanded he got his act together if he intended to stay.
After sponging a tenner off Peter, he went out to buy cigarettes and grab a free brekkie from the caff.
Crossing Ian Beale's (Adam Woodyatt) path and causing a little more chaos, he then dished out some flirtatious comments to Avani Nandra-Hart (Aaliyah James).
His uncle Jack (Scott Maslen) clocked the interaction – and how uneasy it made her dad Ravi Gulati (Aaron Thiara). He's not a man to be messed with!
Deciding that the time had come to get to the root cause of his problems, Jack caught up with Oscar in McKlunkys and firstly started by addressing his sexuality.
Oscar opened up, revealing that he 'swings both ways', and that he had a girlfriend prior to his stint in the detention centre. The issue was that he became more attracted to the girl's father!
Jack then asked when he last saw Max, to which Oscar said it was Christmas… 2022. More Trending
As viewers of the soap know, Max has been living in Croatia for a number of years with his granddaughter Abi Jr. Lauren has attempted to reach out and ask for support in looking after Oscar, to no avail.

His chat with Jack seemed to be just the ticket for improving his behaviour and attitude, and he went to apologise to Ian for his earlier behaviour. However, stubborn as a mule, Ian declined his words and Oscar decided to take further action.
Dropping a piece of lemon on the floor, he pretended to slip on the fruit and injure his arm.

The show follows runaway single mother Alba Mazier (Ava Baya) whose boss, Arnaud Lasserre (Thibault De Montalembert), is killed 'just hours into starting her new job'. As teased by Time: 'What begins as a murder case quickly spirals into something much more complex: a dark family history full of hidden paternity, forced silence, and decades of manipulation.' Netflix just dropped a fresh French thriller (Picture: Marie Genin/Netflix) When a single mother's name appears in a murdered man's will – her life takes a sudden turn (Picture: Marie Genin/Netflix) The series also stars two-time Oscar nominee Isabelle Adjani as the ill-fated Arnaud's wife, Beatrice. The feel of the show has been compared to the likes of Harlan Coben's mystery thrillers, which have stirred up a storm on the streaming platform with huge viewership for adaptations like Fool Me Once and Missing You. 'There's a lot to like about Under A Dark Sun, like Baya's intensity as Alba and Adjani's insouciant performance as Beatrice, who seems so unfazed by Arnaud's death that she wears a pink suit to his funeral and reads a eulogy she created with ChatGPT. La Fortuna on ITVX: Stanley Tucci stars in this Spanish-American adventure drama based on an incredible true story about a diplomat 'leading a team of treasure hunters'. The Glass Dome on Netflix: This Swedish drama follows a criminologist who returns to her small hometown and 'becomes wrapped up in the investigation of a missing girl and its haunting similarities to her own childhood abduction'. 'That back and forth between these two very opposite characters should drive the tension in this series,' Decider wrote in a review. The Review Geek pointed out the show's sometimes clunky plotting but added: 'Under a Dark Sun is an easy binge with strong performances, a compelling lead, and just enough intrigue to carry you through.' Over on IMDb, user zeksozen called it a 'tense and intriguing' and said it was 'a hidden gem for those who enjoy European crime dramas with a moody, cinematic style'. Proceed with caution, however, as not all the reviews have been glowing, with some calling it a 'weird' storyline filled with sometimes 'unnecessary twists'. You'll have to tune in to decide whether it's down your alley. There's a growing market for European thrillers in the UK, with plenty of options if you find yourself hooked after this one. Just last week, Channel 4 added a French survival thriller, The Devil's Leap, which followed a father-daughter duo on a hiking trip gone wrong. A version of this article was originally published on July 13. Under A Dark Sun is now available to stream on Netflix. Got a story? Romeo Beckham shares unseen photos with siblings as Brooklyn feud escalates

Romeo Beckham has shared some snaps with his siblings as the family feud with big brother Brooklyn Beckham heats up on social media. 22-year-old Romeo hasn't shied away from the Beckham family rift in his recent social media post, sharing pictures with his siblings Cruz, 20, and Harper, 14, without eldest Beckham sprog Brooklyn, 26, anywhere to be seen. Harper, whose recent birthday sparked an unexpected public show of affection from Brooklyn, hugged Romeo on the streets, the pair looking as close as ever in the new snaps. Cruz also posed with them for a group photo, which included his girlfriend Jackie Apostel. This show of sibling solidarity comes after it was noted Brooklyn no longer followed his brothers Cruz and Romeo on social media, with the latter two having also unfollowed Brooklyn's wife Nicola Peltz Beckham. 'Brooklyn had no idea until he read about it online. It's possible Romeo and Cruz blocked them, which would make it appear as him no longer following the brothers,' the insider told The Sun. 'He and Nicola certainly didn't unfollow them or block them – they're as confused as anyone else. The first they heard about it was when it was being reported on,' they added. Rumours of a rift in the family started when Brooklyn and Nicola married in 2022, with reports of tension between her and Victoria Beckham, 51, however talk died down when the pair put on a united front at public events. However, eyebrows were raised once more when Brooklyn and Nicola failed to make an appearance at David's 50th birthday bash – nor did he, in typical Beckham fashion, send his dad a birthday message on social media. Further fuel was added to the fire when just a short time after this snub, Brooklyn wished Nicola's dad a happy birthday on Instagram. However, Brooklyn – who also posed a cryptic social media video about how he would 'always choose' Nicola – put the alleged drama aside to pay tribute to youngest sibling Harper on her 14th birthday last week. The reason behind the rumored rift is currently unclear, but it has been claimed that Victoria is 'desperate' for things to be patched up between her once-close family. To view this video please enable JavaScript, and consider upgrading to a web browser that supports HTML5 video 'Victoria hates to think about her family being so divided, especially with it involving one of her children,' an insider told Metro. More Trending 'Brooklyn's absence at David's 50th birthday party was noticeable, and she desperately wished he would have been there. 'They've always been a close-knit family, and seeing how things are now has been devastating for Victoria and David.' It's also having an impact on Brooklyn. 'Brooklyn hasn't felt the same about his family for months,' a source said, adding: 'When big family milestones approach, he often feels quite isolated over in Los Angeles, but he's keen to show that he loves his family deeply.' Emma Watson banned from driving after going 8mph over limit in 30mph zone

Emma Watson has been banned from driving for six months after appearing at the High Wycombe Magistrates' Court today. The Harry Potter star did not attend the short hearing but did admit to going 38mph in a 30mph zone. She was caught speeding in Banbury, Oxford, on July 31, last year and is said to have had nine points on her licence at the time. A whopping £1044 fine comes attached to the ban, which blocks Watson, 35, from getting behind the wheel of a car for six months. More Trending The Beauty and the Beast actress had been driving along a restricted road with a speed camera while studying her doctorate at Oxford University. Court records state she was driving her £3,000 Audi S3 at the time, the same vehicle which was impounded last year and landed her a parking fine. She had left the car outside the Rose and Crown pub in Stratford-Upon-Avon, blocking a local restaurant manager's vehicle for three hours. After being unable to locate the driver, he eventually called the police and Watson had to pay a £192 fine after her appeals were unsuccessful.
