Everything Buzz Williams and three Aggies said on the Texas A&M vs Yale matchup
Texas A&M (22-10, 11-7 SEC) punched its ticket a while ago and just needed to play out the rest of the season to see exactly where they would land.
March Madness 2025 did not disappoint as the NCAA Selection Committee unveiled the much-anticipated tournament brackets on March 16, 2025. To the surprise of many, both Texas and North Carolina secured spots among the 68 competing teams. Texas A&M Men's Basketball, under the guidance of head coach Buzz Williams, achieved one of its highest seedings in program history—earning a No. 4 seed in the South Region. Their first challenge? A first-round matchup against the 13-seed Yale Bulldogs in Denver.
The Aggies' impressive season has been a rollercoaster, but their determination paid off with a coveted spot in the tournament bracket. This veteran-heavy roster, led by multiple seniors who have played under Williams for three seasons, is poised to leave its mark on the tournament. What better time than now for these Aggie seniors to make an unforgettable run in the NCAA Men's Basketball Tournament, capping off their college careers in style?
After the game, Buzz Williams, Manny Obaseki, Henry Coleman, and Zhuric Phelps spoke to the media, after A&M was selected as a 4-seed in the NCAA Tournament.
Buzz Williams believe his team is ready for any type of team they face in the tournament
"We've played against every style of team that there is. There isn't any relief in the caliber of opponent or the location. If 14 teams from your league are in, that speaks to the metrics the committee looks at. We're as prepared as possible."
The extra rest gave them time to relax a bit before jumping into the NCAA Tournament
"I don't think it hurts you. This is our first time not playing in the SEC Tournament semifinals or finals in four years. We had a whole 48 hours to concentrate on us. I don't think that's bad."
Coach Buzz speaks on the experience of his team
"Our group has three NCAA Tournament games of experience. That's healthy. Hopefully, we can accumulate more over the next few weeks."
How will playing in Denver affect his team's stamina
"Yes, I think it matters. You need oxygen. They say it takes 72 hours to adjust. The good thing is every team will have those same problems. Every team will experience that in Denver, not just us."
Henry Coleman believes playing their brand of basketball will put pressure on Yale
"We're going to stick to our game plan. We'll play at a high level and rebound the ball. We're going to look at film and do the right things. We're going to play Texas A&M basketball. They still have to guard us too."
The SEC was the best conference this year with 14 team making the tournament
"I think that speaks to the magnitude of the SEC. The coaches, players, and support staff have taken it to another level. When you look across all sports, the SEC is the best in every sport."
Coleman believes the SEC tournament loss will serve as just another learning experience for them
"We learn after wins and we learn after losses. We were right back in the gym preparing for what's next. We didn't perform at our best. We knew that, we got back and we learned."
Senior guard Manny Obaseki is excited for Buzz and his teammates say tournament play is a few days away
"I'm excited for Coach Buzz to reach another tournament. I'm thankful for how he's led us as a leader. I'm excited for guys like Zhuric Phelps and Pharrel Payne who have never been before. I'm excited to go."
4-seed Texas A&M will face 13-seed Yale on Thursday in the Denver Region of the South Bracket.

College World Series: Best bets for Coastal Carolina vs Arizona, Louisville vs Oregon St
College World Series: Best bets for Coastal Carolina vs Arizona, Louisville vs Oregon St The College World Series kicks off in Omaha on Friday. The action begins with Coastal Carolina facing Arizona at 1 p.m. CT. Later, Oregon State takes on Louisville at 6 p.m. CT. Play in Bracket 2 won't start until Saturday, where UCLA faces Murray State and LSU meets Arkansas. Arkansas and LSU are considered the best two teams in the field. Both are stacked with MLB talent. Both squads are battle-tested, too, after playing through the grind of an SEC schedule. It would be a major upset if UCLA or Murray State found a way to win Bracket 2. Coastal Carolina and Oregon State make up the next tier. The Chanticleers and Beavers are seen as serious contenders in Bracket 1, while Arizona and Louisville are long shots. Baseball is a weird game, especially in the postseason. It's a fool's game to make predictions, but that's what we're going to do today. Here are your best bets for Friday's action at the College World Series. Coastal Carolina vs. Arizona U9 -115 Depending on where you look, you might see 8.5 as the total for this one. DraftKings still has it at nine runs with -115 odds. Charles Schwab can be hitter or pitcher friendly depending on the weather. The forecast on Friday isn't calling for a major breeze, so I don't expect the ball to be jumping out of the park. Coastal Carolina's pitching staff is one of the best in the country. It's a bad matchup for an Arizona lineup that ranked near the bottom of the Big 12 in runs per game. However, Arizona has the pitching and defense to compete. I don't see a lot of runs scored in this one. Pick: Under 9, -115 Oregon State -188 vs. Louisville Oregon State's moneyline sits between -185 and -200 as of Friday morning. You can find -188 at DraftKings. The Beavers will start freshman pitcher Dax Whitney. Whitney's stuff is electric with 111 strikeouts in 71.1 innings. He's posted double-digit K's in his last two NCAA Tournament outings. With Whitney on the mound, I like Oregon State's chances vs. Louisville. Pick: Oregon State moneyline, -188 Oregon State -1.5 vs. Louisville Along with Whitney on the mound, I feel good about Oregon State's lineup in this one. I have questions about Louisville's pitching staff, and the Beavers' lineup has MLB-level talent. Even if Louisville starter Patrick Forbes has a strong outing, Oregon State will get to the Louisville bullpen. You can find Oregon State -1.5 for +100 at BetMGM. Pick: Oregon State -1.5, +100 For those unfamiliar with the College World Series, here's a refresher on how the tournament works. How many teams are in the College World Series? Eight teams compete in the College World Series. Before reaching Omaha, teams must win a four-team double-elimination regional and a best-of-three super regional. Is the College World Series single elimination? No. The College World Series has two double-elimination brackets, much like the setup used in the regional round. A single loss is not the end of the world. How is the College World Series champion crowned? The winners of each four-team bracket meet in the College World Series final, which is a best-of-three series. A team could lose twice and still win it all. A loss in the opening bracket doesn't carry over to the final. 2025 College World Series teams Here are the eight teams set to compete in Omaha: Arkansas LSU UCLA Murray State Coastal Carolina Arizona Oregon State Louisville 2025 College World Series bracket Bracket 1 Bracket 1 features Coastal Carolina, Arizona, Oregon State, and Louisville. CCU vs. Arizona and Oregon State vs. Louisville are the first-round games. Bracket 2 Bracket 2 features UCLA, Murray State, Arkansas, and LSU. The first round games are UCLA vs. Murray State and LSU vs. Arkansas. 2025 College World Series Schedule

KU earns No. 2 seed in NCAA baseball regionals. Here's Jayhawks' game site & foe
Kansas baseball coach Dan Fitzgerald met with reporters on Monday, May 26, 2025 after the Jayhawks were accorded a No. 2 seed in the NCAA regionals. The Kansas Jayhawks baseball team is headed to the NCAA tournament for the first time since 2014. Third-year coach Dan Fitzgerald's KU team finished as runner-up to West Virginia during the Big 12 regular season and lost in the semifinals of the conference's postseason tournament. On Monday the Jayhawks were assigned to a four-team regional in Arkansas as a No. 2 seed among the national field of 64. Advertisement KU will meet No. 3 seed Creighton (41-14) in a first-round regional contest at 7 p.m. Friday at Baum-Walker Field in Fayetteville, Ark. The other two teams in the double-elimination regional event are No. 1 seed Arkansas and North Dakota State. The Bison went 20-32 this season, winning the Summit League title. The Razorbacks (43-13) finished second in the SEC behind Texas. They're rated fifth in the latest Division I baseball rankings and hold the same spot in RPI. Creighton's Bluejays (41-14) are coming off a Big East tournament championship and have won seven games in a row. KU is ranked No. 25 nationally and No. 24 in the RPI. Advertisement Each regional will include four teams playing in a double-elimination format. The regionals will start Friday and Saturday and run through Monday, June 2, with the winners meeting in best-of-three NCAA Super Regionals the following week. Selection of the eight super regional hosts will be announced June 3. 'This is really special,' Fitzgerald said. 'To see the joy they (players) are having and for it to mean so much ... To be a 2 seed in the NCAA Tournament in year three and lead the Big 12 in wins, if someone told me that I would have taken it all day long and more. 'We have an awesome group of human beings in this program that care so much. We'll have a good practice today. They're ready.' Advertisement The coach had no complaints about where KU was sent and the opposition in the Fayetteville regional. 'You look through this tournament,' Fitzgerald said, 'and this is true of the NCAA tournament: There's never a regional where you're like, 'Oh, man, that's an easy one for so-and-so.' They're all tough.' Of KU's first-round foe, he said: 'Creighton has a really good team and is playing really good baseball.'
