Alexander Isak's stance on Liverpool transfer revealed as Reds consider bid
Arne Slot's side have already launched an impressive summer recruitment drive, with Milos Kerkez, Jeremie Frimpong and Florian Wirtz all arriving before pre-season.
But the Reds are keen to build further on the side that coasted to the Premier League title last season, and have earmarked a striker as a position to strengthen.
Isak is a player whom Liverpool have long admired and reports suggest the Merseyside club have now approached Newcastle to sound of the possibility of a deal this summer.
Liverpool are said to be willing to pay as much as £120m for the Swede, although at this stage it appears that Newcastle are unwilling to entertain the possibility of selling their star striker this summer.

Isak, who scored 23 league goals last season, has reportedly not pushed for a move as he prepares for another season back in the Champions League with Newcastle.
However, transfer journalist Fabrizio Romano suggests that the 25-year-old would be open to a move to Anfield this summer if a bid came in for his services.
'From what I'm hearing, Alexander Isak is very calm,' Romano said in a video on his YouTube channel.
'He knows very well that Newcastle want to keep him and he knows that Newcastle want to offer him a really important contract.
'At the same time, he knows that Liverpool would offer not just important money but an ambitious project, too.
'So Alexander Isak is not closing doors to this possibility and Liverpool were never going to make club-to-club contact without a feeling that the player would be open to the idea of a move.' More Trending
Should Liverpool be unsuccessful in their pursuit of Isak, the club will consider a move for Eintracht Frankfurt forward Hugo Ekitike.
Ekitike has an £86m release clause in his contract and has already been the subject of heavy interest from Newcastle, who want the Frenchman to play alongside Isak at St James' Park.
A bid of £65m from Newcastle has already been rejected by the Bundesliga side, but further talks between both clubs have reportedly been held.
Liverpool, meanwhile, have made contact with Frankfurt but are yet to submit an offer for the 23-year-old.

Thomas Frank refuses to put timeline on Tottenham's Premier League title quest
Spurs claimed Europa League success in May to end a 17-year wait for silverware, but Levy ruthlessly dismissed Ange Postecoglou after a difficult domestic campaign where the club finished one place above the relegation zone. Despite Tottenham's Premier League struggles after an injury-ravaged season, Levy made the bold claim last month that they 'need' to win the title. Frank said: 'I share his ambitions for the club. A club of this size should have that ambition. 'How far away we are is probably very difficult to say, but we should throw it forward and go for it. 'No doubt that needs to be the aim for the future. What are to odds for us winning the PL this season? 'I'm not allowed to gamble either, so I think we're probably not the favourites. Probably three teams at least ahead of us but we will do what we can to build a strong and competitive team.' Brave. Aggressive. Attack. Thomas lays down his principles 👊 — Tottenham Hotspur (@SpursOfficial) July 18, 2025 During a busy first press conference as Spurs boss, Frank regularly stated his desire to improve the robustness of the squad to ensure they can handle four competitions. There were also plenty of questions about the future of key duo Son Heung-min and Cristian Romero. Son achieved his own goal of winning silverware at Tottenham in May and there has been a suggestion if he wanted to leave the club would not stand in his way. But Frank, who refused to confirm if Son would remain captain, insisted: 'It's always tricky situations like that. 'If a player has been at a club a long time, then there will always be a decision for the club to take of course. 'And of course, the head coach and the guys who are in charge and this case will be with Daniel and Johan (Lange), because there is something in it if someone wants to leave at a certain stage, then there can be something there, but the club will always decide in the end.' Postecoglou's first summer at Spurs was overshadowed by Bayern Munich's protracted pursuit of Harry Kane, which eventually ended a day before the start of the season. Frank would not want a repeat, but added: 'First and foremost, he's (Son) here now. I'm not worried too much about it.'

Yoane Wissa makes decision with Man Utd and Arsenal 'looking' at deal
Brentford star Yoane Wissa wants to leave the club this summer despite the club being willing to open talks over a new deal, according to reports. Newcastle United, Tottenham and Nottingham Forest are all attempting to sign the DR Congo international before the start of the 2025-26 campaign. The Bees, understandably, want to keep hold of the 28-year-old forward, especially with Bryan Mbeumo expected to move to Manchester United. But the BBC report that Wissa – who scored 20 goals last term across all competitions – would prefer a move away from Brentford this summer. Wissa's decision comes after Stuart Pearce claimed that United were 'looking' to sign the player before the new Premier League season starts. Wake up to find news on your club in your inbox every morning with Metro's Football Newsletter. Sign up to our newsletter and then select your team in the link so we can send you football news tailored to you. 'There's no doubt Manchester United and Arsenal would have been looking at Wissa,' Pearce told BoyleSports, who offer the latest Premier League odds, earlier this week. 'When you look at the season he had last year, he was magnificent. The goals he's delivered while playing with width and playing down the middle as well. 'That's a major asset for any football club and the fact that Nottingham Forest have moved the odd player on recently, along with other sides in the division, you would think that by the time the season starts, he might well have moved on [from Brentford].' Meanwhile, Peace has also shared his thoughts on Arsenal's £50m deal to sign Noni Madueke, which was officially announced on Friday. Madueke has been forced to deal with somewhat of a toxic reaction from some Arsenal fans, who are adamant the club have made a big mistake. Peace, though, feels it's a positive move for the Gunners. More Trending 'If Noni Madueke rips it up for Arsenal, £50million will look very cheap, make no mistake about that,' he added. 'I think at the moment, both teams can lay claim to having a good deal, he's 23-years-old so £50million in the run of things gives Arsenal another dimension as well. 'From Chelsea's point of view, if they stop piling too many players to recoup £50m, I think both teams have got a decent deal. Sometimes that happens. It's not always one's got a good deal, one's got a bad. 'I would say in this respect, both of them have got a reasonable deal they're both happy with.' Former Lioness blasts Spain during Euro 2025 quarter-final win over Switzerland
Former England midfielder Izzy Christiansen aimed a dig at Spain during their 2-0 quarter-final victory over Switzerland at Euro 2025 on Friday. Spain secured their spot in the last four thanks to goals from Athenea del Castillo and Claudia Pina, with Switzerland reduced to 10 players late-on following a red card for Noelle Maritz. Montse Tome's side, who beat England in the 2023 World Cup final and are the main favourites to win Euro 2025, got the job done despite Mariona Caldentey and Alexia Putellas both missing penalties at Stadion Wankdorf. Spain were hugely frustrated in the first half and it wasn't until the 66th minute they broke the deadlock – the longest they've had to wait for a goal at Euro 2025 – scoring before the 22nd minute in their three group games. Christiansen, on commentary duties for the BBC, called out Spain's players in the opening 45 minutes for trying to trick the referee into giving fouls. The former Lioness also mentioned Arsenal's win over Barcelona in the Champions League final last term – in which the Spaniards were 'bullied'. 'The Spanish players are starting to act like they did in the Champions League final, the ones that played for Barcelona,' Christiansen said. 'Arsenal bullied them. I'm starting to see bits of negative body language, appealing for fouls that the referee isn't giving – and they aren't fouls.' Christiansen also blasted Caldentey and Putellas for failing to score their penalties for Spain in the ninth minute and 99th minute respectively. The ex-England star, capped 31 times, described Caldentey's penalty as 'really poorly executed' and Putellas' spot-kick as 'terrible'. Speaking after the match, Christiansen added: 'Based on tonight's performance, I don't think Spain would [get to the final] because France and Germany would [have beaten them]. 'I also think Laia Aleixandri was lucky to stay on the pitch. Spain will know they have to improve if they are to beat France or Germany. 'Spain will take confidence after being poor this evening and getting the job done.' Meanwhile, a number of former England players hailed Switzerland for their performance after the match despite their loss to Spain. Former England defender Anita Asante told the BBC: 'We knew it would be nothing short of a miracle for Switzerland to get a result tonight, but they can take heart and credit for their performance. More Trending 'This is a young team, they will bounce back and qualify for many competitions to come. They held Spain for about 60 odd minutes until they scored. That's incredible, they made it difficult, this is a world class outfit but they were frustrated by Switzerland.' Ex-England captain Steph Houghton added: 'Switzerland have done everyone proud. They're on their own journey to create a legacy. 'For those young players, it is an experience they can build on and get better.'
