CTV News4 hours ago
As police sort out the details of an overnight crash in Sudbury's downtown, an eye witness recounts the incident.
Sudbury — Sudbury police say they have arrested the driver who fled a downtown crash scene on foot.
Authorities also say an investigation into the incident revealed that the truck involved in the two-vehicle crash early Thursday morning on Larch and Brady had also hit a pedestrian earlier that evening.
Shortly before 12 a.m., a 25-year-old female driver was reportedly 'doing doughnuts' with the truck in the parking of a grocery store on Lasalle Blvd. when she allegedly hit another man who was there with them.
The man sustained serious, but non-life threatening injuries, got into the truck, and a 24-year-old man sitting in the passenger seat got behind the wheel.
Shortly after midnight, police say the truck was then involved in the crash downtown with a minivan.
The male driver of the truck fled the scene on foot, leaving the injured man and woman in the vehicle he was driving.
As a result of the collision, the driver of the minivan sustained serious, but non-life threatening injuries.
Police say Thursday night, the driver was located, arrested, and charged with:
Dangerous Operation
Failure to Stop After Accident
Operation Causing Bodily Harm
Fail to Stop
Drive Motor Vehicle – No Valid Permit
Operate Vehicle – No Insurance
Officials say the woman in the truck was charged at the scene of the Brady St. crash with:
Impaired Operation
Dangerous Operation
None of the allegations have been proven in court.
