City & suburbs to get rain starting today, says IMD
According to India Meteorological Department (IMD), the city and suburbs are likely to receive light to moderate rainfall on Wednesday under partly cloudy skies. Maximum and minimum temperatures are expected to hover around 37°C-38°C and 28°C-29°C respectively.
"On Wednesday, the city and suburbs may receive light to moderate rainfall over some areas. Skies may be partly cloudy," the IMD bulletin read.

Meteorologists attribute the rainfall possibility to a weakening of the southwest monsoon winds along the west coast.
This weakening allows sea breeze to move inland, creating favourable wind convergence and triggering convective activity that leads to thunderstorms.
Chennai typically receives about 10cm of rainfall in July. Last month, the city saw around 7cm.
IMD has also issued a forecast for light to moderate rainfall at isolated locations across Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, and Karaikal until July 7.
However, weather blogger Pradeep John cautioned that rainfall forecasts remain uncertain.
"There is a 50% chance for rain activity," he said.
On Tuesday, some suburban areas received light rain spells. Rain gauges in Anna University and Sathyabhama University recorded 0.5mm rainfall. Earlier, Nungambakkam and Meenambakkam recorded 36.3°C and 36.9°C.
On Monday, IMD released a monthly forecast which said the city and suburbs may receive near normal rainfall and record below normal maximum temperature and above normal night temperatures.

Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu has closely looked into the present situation. He has directed teams to prioritise rescue operations and accelerate aid distribution. He said, 'Our first priority is to ensure the safety of our citizens and restore essential services.' The minister has also requested people to avoid travel to high-risk zones, especially riverbanks and landslide-prone regions. The IMD has predicted continued moderate to heavy rainfall in the region till July 8. Delhi Records 27.6 Degree Celsius, Thunderstorms, Rains Expected Today
New Delhi: Delhi on Wednesday recorded a minimum temperature of 27.6 degrees Celsius, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) said. The relative humidity was recorded at 74 per cent at 8.30 am. The IMD has forecast thunderstorms with rain during the day. The maximum temperature is expected to settle at 35 degrees Celsius. Delhi's Air Quality Index (AQI) stood at 85, in the 'satisfactory' category, at 9 am, according to the Central Pollution Control Board. An AQI between zero and 50 is considered 'good', 51 and 100 'satisfactory', 101 and 200 'moderate', 201 and 300 'poor', 301 and 400 'very poor', and 401 and 500 'severe'.

Monsoon conditions are likely to continue over many parts of Northwest, Central, and East India during the next six to seven days. On July 2, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) issued an orange alert – predicting heavy rainfall – in parts of Himachal Pradesh, Rajasthan and Maharashtra. A yellow alert, suggesting light to moderate rainfall, has also been issued in several other parts of the country on July 2. Himachal Pradesh: Kangra and Solan are likely to witness heavy to very heavy rainfall on Wednesday. Heavy rainfall is also expected in Una, Hamirpur, Bilaaspur, Mandi, Shimla and Sirmaur. Delhi: No alert has been issued in Delhi on Wednesday. The city recorded a minimum temperature of 27.6 degrees Celsius, the IMD said on Wednesday.
