Mike Woodson has reached a deal with Sacramento to become the team's associate head coach under Christie, ESPN's Shams Charania reported Wednesday, citing sources.
Woodson returns to the NBA after most recently serving as the Indiana men's basketball coach for four seasons.
Before his time with the Hoosiers, Woodson worked in the NBA from 1996 to 2021 in various roles. The last time he was an NBA head coach was with the New York Knicks from 2012 to 2014.
Woodson posts a 315-365 (.463) coaching record. He also has coached 46 playoff contests, holding an 18-28 record in such games.
Christie took over as interim coach in late December before earning the full-time gig last week. He and new general manager Scott Perry wasted no time making personnel changes, firing top assistant coach Jay Triano and several other assistants over the weekend.

They now will fill in the holes for the remaining staff, with rumors of Bobby Jackson and Darius Songalia making potential returns to Sacramento.

Former Sixers forward Lonnie Walker IV signs deal with Maccabi Tel Aviv

The Philadelphia 76ers brought Lonnie Walker IV back over to the NBA at the trade deadline after he had began the season overseas. A former first-round pick of the San Antonio Spurs back in 2018, Walker spent six seasons in the league before going overseas, and the Sixers brought him back on a deal. In 20 games for Philadelphia, with seven starts, Walker averaged 12.4 points, 3.2 rebounds, and 2.5 assists while shooting 42% from the floor and 35.4% from deep. He knocked down eight triples in the season finale loss to the Chicago Bulls which was one 3-pointer shy of tying the franchise record for most 3s in a game with nine held by Tyrese Maxey, Danny Green, and Dana Barros. The Sixers declined Walker's team option making him a free agent. Now, the 7-year forward will once again head overseas as he will reportedly sign a deal with Maccabi Tel Aviv in the EuroLeague. Walker will now look for his next opportunity in the NBA as he will look to eventually work his way back. For now, he will continue his basketball career internationally.

LeBron James seen partying with A-listers amid Lakers trade rumors

LeBron James is living it up in Cannes amid speculation about his Lakers future. The NBA's all-time leading scorer was spotted partying in the South of France this week with his wife, Savannah James, and his business partner, Maverick Carter. A video of the couple dancing and singing along to Kendrick Lamar's Drake diss track, 'Not Like Us,' while wining and dining at an oceanfront restaurant made the rounds online Tuesday. At one point, Savannah was seen sipping a glass of white wine and dancing with her portable fan in the other hand. The video also included Amazon founder Jeff Bezos, who was seen filming his wife, Lauren Sanchez, dancing to the song at a table nearby. The couple tied the knot in a star-studded affair last month in Venice. James clearly took advice from his agent, Rich Paul, who said he told the four-time NBA champ to 'enjoy his summer' amid constant attention about his playing future. James, who will turn 41 in December, is rumored to want out of the Lakers after Paul released a statement regarding the 21-time All-Star accepting his $52.6 million player option. 'LeBron wants to compete for a championship,' Paul told ESPN last month. 'He knows the Lakers are building for the future. He understands that, but he values a realistic chance of winning it all. We are very appreciative of the partnership that we've had for eight years with Jeanie [Buss] and Rob [Pelinka] and consider the Lakers as a critical part of his career. 'We understand the difficulty in winning now while preparing for the future. We do want to evaluate what's best for LeBron at this stage in his life and career. He wants to make every season he has left count, and the Lakers understand that, are supportive and want what's best for him.' James, who is entering his 23rd season, has a no-trade clause in his contract. Despite speculation that James might reunite with Kyrie Irving and Anthony Davis in Dallas, NBA insider Rachel Nichols reported last week that the 'Mavericks do not want LeBron James' and 'have messaged that out through multiple reporters.' Nichols added that she 'thinks that door is closed.'

Which Nets played the best in the 2025 NBA Las Vegas Summer League?

The Brooklyn Nets are finished with the 2025 NBA Las Vegas Summer League after getting a chance to see four of the five rookies from the 2025 NBA Draft play. Brooklyn came away from the summer league with just a 1-4 record, but they were able to get a sense of what players like guard Egor Demin would look like against NBA competition prior to the 2025-26 campaign. HoopsHype put together a list of how each player on the Nets performed in Las Vegas and the results of their rating system should not shock any Nets fan who watched their team play in the summer league. For starters, Brooklyn center Drew Timme had himself quite the performance as he dropped 25.3 points, 8.0 rebounds, and 2.7 assists per game. HoopsHype had Timme as the highest-performing players for the Nets, but in terms of the entire summer league, he ranked as the 55th-best player in the event. While Timme did not make the first-team or second-team All-Summer League, despite a solid case for him to be on either of those teams, it did not take away from the fact that Timme played well and caught the attention of some notable figures within the NBA space. Moving on, most Nets fans were watching the summer league to see how the four rookies that were able to play and HoopsHype had a rating for all of them. Forward Danny Wolf was the best-performing player from the 2025 class, followed by guard Egor Demin, guard Ben Saraf, and guard Nolan Traore. For context, Wolf ranked as the 182nd-best player in the summer league. Ultimately, the summer league is a small sample size so time will tell if any of the rookies will be worth their draft slot when they have to go against all that the league has to offer. However, Brooklyn comes away from Las Vegas knowing which rookies have room to improve and which ones will be able to contribute to winning basketball games next season.
