FCA debuts new team for all-star game, continues football
TEXOMA (KFDX/KJTL) — For the fifth year, the Fellowship of Christian Athletes is hosting its annual all-star games. This year is a smidge different, it's the first time the organization is featuring a volleyball team. 'It's amazing, it's a big honor,' Megg Lindley said. 'I know pretty much all the girls that I am playing with from tournaments and clubs. It's really cool to play with all the players we've played against.' The program also brings football back for a second year. Marc Bindel debuts as the coach for the Texas team. FCA takes an approach where everyone is welcome, whether its 1A or 6A, they have the best of both six-man and 11 man shining on the field. Kids from Wichita Christian and Chillicothe learning the 11 man game on the fly. 'It's familiar. I played 11 man for the first two years of my high school career,' Sam Machtolff said. 'It's weird. I forget some of the rules don't mix. Like when I see a quarterback scramble, it kind of messes with me.' What sets FCA apart from the other all-star games? 'What I love about the All-Star game is it's one more chance for FCA to talk to the athletes about their relationship with Christ,' Michael Cummings said. 'Everyday at the end of the practices, we have a devotional. We have been excited to be able to just sit and talk to the athletes and prepare them for life and what life looks like after high school.' Nick Chubb passes physical, signs one-year, $2.5 million contract with Texans
Veteran running back Nick Chubb officially has his new home in Houston. Chubb passed his physical and signed a one-year, $2.5 million contract with the Texans, according to Ian Rapoport of NFL Network. Advertisement The deal gives Chubb the opportunity to earn another $2.5 million if he hits certain incentives. A 2018 second-round pick of the Browns, Chubb has played his entire career in Cleveland and was named to four consecutive Pro Bowls from 2019 to 2022. His career average of 5.1 yards per carry is among the best in NFL history. But in 2023 he suffered a severe knee injury in the second game of the season, he wasn't cleared to return until midway through the 2024 season, and wasn't the same player once he got back on the field. That's why it took him so long to sign, and why he had to sign a one-year prove-it deal. In Houston, Chubb joins a backfield that also includes starter Joe Mixon along with Dameon Pierce and rookie Woody Marks.

Community members frustrated over train derailment mess
HOUSTON - A train derailment in Houston last week caused a huge mess. Several community members are frustrated because the disastrous mess has not been cleaned up yet. "This took place on Thursday. Here we are on Monday. Nobody is here to check it out. To me, it shows lack of leadership in this community and shows lack of accountability on behalf of the Union Pacific," said Tiffany Parker, spokesperson for Culture Commission Advocacy Group. The backstory Union Pacific said last week nine empty train cars derailed in Fifth Ward near Lyons Avenue around 8:30 p.m. last Thursday. The company said there were no injuries and no releases. However. some people noticed unknown material under may have been inside one of the train cars. "If they were empty, why do you have content covered up? You can tell there was a spill, but we don't know what that spill is," said Kathy Blueford-Daniels, Community Member. "It's very unacceptable." "It's a beautiful community. They don't deserve this. It's like a third-world country," said Rob Slater, founder of Culture Commission Advocacy Group. "This wouldn't have happened in River Oaks or Upper Kirby. This is nonsense. I know it takes days and takes time to move, but at least block it off." The other side Union Pacific told FOX 26 on Monday there were actually seven derailed cars containing grain inside. They also said the incident is under investigation and cleanup is underway. Some people in the community are upset because the cars are still sitting there and want the mess gone. Union Pacific said they plan to begin cleanup this week. The Source FOX 26's Jillian Hartmann spoke with community members about what's going on.
