Jack Grealish appears to take swipe at Pep Guardiola as he's set to be snubbed from Man City's Club World Cup squad

JACK GREALISH has appeared to take a swipe at boss Pep Guardiola's selection policy.
The Manchester City star, 29, has fallen out of favour at the Etihad.

Grealish started just seven Premier League matches during the 2024-25 season.
Having made just one brief cameo in the final six games of the campaign, Grealish was left on the bench during the FA Cup final - with Guardiola instead turning to teenage debutant Claudio Echeverri as his side chased an equaliser.
Appearing on talkSPORT, Grealish's former Aston Villa team-mate Gabriel Agbonlahor criticised Guardiola's treatment of his pal.
Agbonlahor said: "I think towards the end of the season, it felt to me like it got a bit personal.
"Bringing on a young kid for his debut in an FA Cup final when you're chasing a goal, when you've got someone who's had the career Jack's had just seemed a bit odd.
"That seemed a bit personal to me, like a last little dig to get you out, to upset you, to (make) you want to move. But we've seen this before from Pep.
"Pep can be ruthless at times. If he feels that you're not part of his future plans, he will get rid of you."
When talkSPORT posted the clip to Instagram, Grealish commented, appearing to point to how many sub appearances he's made: "What u want me to do score a hatty in 20?"
The post received several other comments, including one that read: "Dude jack is been bad lately and I'm not surprised Pep did that."

Grealish responded: "haha I've been bad lately?
"Scored 3 goals in my last 3 appearances over 45 mins but okie dokie love x".
Jack Grealish to Napoli?! Conte Plots Shock £100M Raid – Would City Really Let Him Go?
Grealish scored one goal and laid on one assist in 20 Prem appearances during the 2024-25 season.
His three goals in all competitions came against Leicester, Paris Saint-Germain and Salford.
Yesterday it emerged that Grealish will not head to the US with his team-mates for the Club World Cup, as he nears a City exit.
The England ace is said to be attracting interest from the Premier League and overseas - with Villa, Newcastle, Everton and Napoli among the interested suitors.
Boss Guardiola said in May: 'Of course Jack has to play. He needs to do it — with us or another place.'
SunSport recently revealed that Grealish had accepted that he may need to leave City in order to reclaim his England place in time for the World Cup.
'I LOVE JACK GREALISH'
Having missed out on last summer's European Championships, Grealish has been left out of both of Thomas Tuchel 's squads so far as Three Lions boss.
Asked about the 39-cap star in March, the German said: "I love Jack Grealish. I love everything about him; his personality, his quality.
"The guy has courage, can take the heat, not afraid of the Bernabeu whistles when he's on the ball, it does not affect him, it affects him only in the best way.
"Is he a player who should be available and have an impact in our (England) squad? Yes, 100 per cent. But lately, he simply has no rhythm and he and I agree 100 per cent.
"He said, 'Thomas, I'm not a start-stop player. It's so hard for me to influence a match from the bench and be on the bench again, and two weeks later start again'.
"I'm not judging anyone, but it's just a characteristic of Jack, he gets better with every minute. The more he plays the better he gets and then he becomes a proper machine."

Spurs close in on Frank as Postecoglou replacement

Spurs sacked Ange Postecoglou on Friday, despite Europa League success, and quickly set their sights on Frank – who has gained admirers for his work over an impressive seven-year period at the west London club. After positive initial talks over the weekend, confidence started to grow on Monday that Frank would be the man to replace Postecoglou and Tottenham have now entered discussions with Brentford. Frank's current deal with the Bees runs until the summer of 2027 and contains a release clause reported to be in the region of £10million. Brentford are eager to hold out for Frank's release clause, but they have started talks with Spurs over a compensation package which would soften the blow of losing the highly-rated Dane. The 51-year-old would take over a Spurs side which won the Europa League last month but finished 17th in the Premier League. Poor domestic form during the 2024-25 season cost Postecoglou his job as the Spurs board was forced to make 'one of the toughest decisions' it has had to make in dismissing the head coach who ended a 17-year trophy drought. 'It is crucial that we are able to compete on multiple fronts and believe a change of approach will give us the strongest chance for the coming season and beyond,' a club statement on Friday read. Following a review of performances and after significant reflection, the Club can announce that Ange Postecoglou has been relieved of his duties. — Tottenham Hotspur (@SpursOfficial) June 6, 2025 PA understands Tottenham have also relieved coaches Mile Jedinak, Nick Montgomery and Sergio Raimundo of their duties. Ryan Mason left his role as Spurs first-team coach last week to take over as West Brom boss, which opens the door for Frank to bring in some of his own staff – with current Brentford assistant Claus Norgaard a long-term ally. PA understands another departure from Spurs this summer will be Scott Munn, who was made chief football officer at the club in 2023. Tottenham technical director Johan Lange has remained in post and is set to renew allegiances with compatriot Frank. Frank and Lange worked together at Danish club Lyngby before they both made their marks in the Premier League. Lange attempted to bring Frank to Aston Villa in 2022 when he worked at the midlands outfit. Former Brondby boss Frank has developed a strong reputation in English football since he took over Brentford, with his tactical nous and man-management skills often lauded by rival managers and pundits. After Frank guided Brentford to promotion in 2021, he quickly enabled them to compete strongly in the Premier League despite a modest budget and has been linked to a number of high-profile vacancies in recent years.

Arsenal agree new fee to sign Martin Zubimendi ahead of Real Mad

Arsenal have agreed a new transfer fee to sign Spain midfielder Martin Zubimendi ahead of Real Madrid, according to reports. Mikel Arteta has made Zubimendi, 26, one of his top transfer targets this summer. The Real Sociedad star came close to joining Arsenal's Premier League rivals Liverpool last year but ended up rejecting the move. Arsenal began working on a deal for Zubimendi earlier in the year and were believed to be leading the race for his signature. But Real Madrid have continued to express interest in the Spaniard and recent reports claimed Xabi Alonso was planning a 'final offensive' to beat Arsenal to a deal. Alonso is a known admirer of Zubimendi and reportedly wants to bring him to the Bernabeu as one of his first Real Madrid signings. The issue for Arsenal is that reports in Spain claim Zubimendi is considering snubbing the Gunners in favour of a move to Madrid. Zubimendi is said to be keen to remain in Spain and has always dreamed of playing for Los Blancos. More Trending But The Athletic say Arsenal still expect to welcome Zubimendi to the Emirates Stadium this summer and regard the deal as being 'done and signed'. They say Zubimendi is expected to link up with Arteta's squad for pre-season and the delay is due to Real Sociedad's preference for the transfer to be ratified in July for accounting purposes. Zubimendi has a release clause worth £51m but it is claimed Arsenal have agreed to pay £55m in order to pay for the deal in instalments.
