He reiterated Bahrain's position that the Palestine Liberation Organization (PLO) remains the sole legitimate representative of the Palestinian people.
Additionally, he called for the deployment of international peacekeeping forces in Gaza, either under the UN's supervision or via a coalition of willing nations, to ensure lasting stability in the region.

Dr. Al Zayani expressed Bahrain's appreciation to Saudi Arabia and France for their initiative in convening an International Peace Conference in New York later this month. He also praised Arab leaders for their directive at the Bahrain Summit to intensify diplomatic efforts aimed at:
Increasing the number of countries recognizing the State of Palestine
Securing full UN membership for Palestine
He further commended the formation of an international coalition to implement the two-state solution, initiated by Saudi Arabia, Norway, and the European Union.
The press conference underscored growing Arab consensus on urgent diplomatic measures and humanitarian action to address the deteriorating crisis in Gaza.

Israeli Settlement Plans Will 'Bury' Idea Of Palestinian State, Minister Says

Israeli far-right Finance Minister Bezalel Smotrich has said plans to build more than 3,000 homes in a controversial settlement project in the occupied West Bank will 'bury the idea of a Palestinian state'. The so-called E1 project between Jerusalem and the Maale Adumim settlement has been frozen for decades amid fierce opposition internationally. Building there would effectively cut off the West Bank from occupied East Jerusalem. Smotrich said it would thwart the idea of a Palestinian state 'because there is nothing to recognise and no one to recognise'. Settlements are considered illegal under international law, though Israel disputes this. They are one of the most contentious issues between Israel and the Palestinians. About 700,000 settlers live in approximately 160 settlements in the West Bank and East Jerusalem, according to the Israeli anti-settlement group Peace Now. It is land Palestinians seek for a future independent state. 'After decades of international pressure and freezes, we are breaking conventions and connecting Maale Adumim to Jerusalem,' Smotrich said. 'This is Zionism at its best – building, settling and strengthening our sovereignty in the Land of Israel.' It follows declarations in recent days by a growing number of countries of their intention to recognise a Palestinian state in coming months, which Israel has denounced. Announcing the plan at a news conference with settler organisation Yesha Council Chairman Israel Ganz and Maale Adumim Mayor Guy Yifrach, Smotrich said the land had been given to the Jews by God. When asked by the BBC what message the plans sent to the likes of the UK and France, which plan to recognise a State of Palestine later this year, he said: 'It's not going to happen. There will be no state to recognise.'

Egypt Outlines Plan to Manage Gaza After Israeli Offensive

Egypt has revealed its plan for managing the Gaza Strip once the current Israeli military offensive ends. Egyptian Foreign Minister Badr Abdel Ati said a temporary independent committee and thousands of police officers will be deployed to restore security and order. Restoring Security and Law In an interview with DMC TV on Wednesday evening, Abdel Ati emphasized Egypt's vision for post-war arrangements in Gaza, focusing on security and administration. He stressed the importance of relying on Palestinian authorities to enforce law and fill the security vacuum. 10,000 Police to Be Deployed The minister explained that Palestinian police forces from Gaza and the West Bank could be called upon, retrained, and deployed. Currently, about 5,000 officers are on payroll and could return to duty, while Egypt plans to train an additional 5,000 officers in coordination with Jordan and the Palestinian Authority to ensure clean records. Training will take place in Egyptian camps, with Jordan also helping train some officers ahead of a planned ceasefire to ensure stability. 15 Technocrats to Run Gaza Regarding administration, Abdel Ati said the Cairo International Conference on Reconstruction and Early Recovery in Gaza will discuss the arrangements. Fifteen prominent technocrats, already based in Gaza, have been chosen to form a non-partisan committee to manage the sector for six months. Six-Month Transitional Period The six-month period is intended to allow time to rehabilitate the Palestinian Authority so it can resume its role as the legitimate governing body in both Gaza and the West Bank. During this transitional period, the administrative committee will oversee early recovery projects in coordination with international organizations, following the conference's guidelines.

Gaza braces for new Israel attack

The Israeli military said yesterday that it had approved the framework for a new offensive in the Gaza Strip, as Hamas condemned what it called 'aggressive' Israeli ground incursions in Gaza City. The approved plan for the expanded offensive comes days after Israel's security cabinet called for the capture of the Palestinian territory's largest city following 22 months of war that have created dire humanitarian conditions. Israeli armed forces chief Lieutenant General Eyal Zamir 'approved the main framework for the IDF's operational plan in the Gaza Strip', a statement released by the army said. Timetable Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's government has not provided a precise timetable for when Israeli troops will enter Gaza City, where thousands have taken refuge after fleeing previous offensives. Ismail Al-Thawabta, director general of the Hamas media office in Gaza, told AFP yesterday that 'the Israeli occupation forces continue to carry out aggressive incursions in Gaza City'. 'These assaults represent a dangerous escalation aimed at imposing a new reality on the ground by force, through a scorched-earth policy and the complete destruction of civilian property,' he added. Explosions Sabah Fatoum, 51, who lives in a tent in the city's Tal al-Hawa neighbourhood told AFP by phone that 'the explosions are massive' in the area. There are 'many air strikes and tanks are advancing in the southern area of Tal al-Hawa with drones above our heads', she said. Abu Ahmed Abbas, 46, who lives in a tent in the Zeitoun neighbourhood, said that tanks had been advancing into the southeastern part of Zeitoun and southern Tal al-Hawa 'for several days' and demolishing houses. 'The air strikes are extremely intense, they have intensified, and sometimes there is artillery shelling since last Sunday,' he said. Air strikes Gaza's civil defence agency also reported intensified Israeli air strikes on residential neighbourhoods of Gaza City in recent days. Agency spokesman Mahmud Bassal told AFP that Israeli attacks had killed at least 75 people across the territory yesterday. AFP footage from Gaza City on Tuesday showed Palestinians fleeing Israeli strikes on the Zeitoun and Asqoola neighbourhoods using overloaded carts, vans and bikes.
