Philadelphia Eagles center Cam Jurgens describes winning the Super Bowl
A former Nebraska offensive lineman recapped the experience of winning the Super Bowl this past season. Center Cam Jurgens and the Philadelphia Eagles defeated the Kansas City Chiefs 40-22.
Jurgens described the experience as the worst and best month of his life. He made the comments while talking to News Channel Nebraska.
'The playoffs was the worst month of my life and the best month of my life all in one, it hurt so much some days I could even walk or move. But it's all about getting ready to play. Laying your body out on the line for your team and doing what you can.'
The honors won't stop there for the former Husker. Next Friday, Beatrice High School, in Beatrice, Nebraska, will name its football field Cam Jurgens Field after the former Nebraska center.
Jurgens was a three-sport star at Beatrice High and was the top in-state prospect in the 2018 recruiting class. He would sign with the Cornhuskers and played for Nebraska from 2018-21. The former Husker started his career as a tight end before making the switch to center.
The Philadelphia Eagles selected the center in the second round with the 51st pick overall in the 2022 NFL draft. He recently signed a four-year $68 million extension with the Philadelphia Eagles. This includes a $39.4 million guaranteed contract and keeps him with the organization through the 2029 season.
Jurgens described the experience while making an appearance at his hometown of Pickrell, Nebraska's Pickrell Picnic.

Chiefs' Xavier Worthy cleared to practice after concussion protocol as Drue Tranquill departs

ST. JOSEPH, Mo. (AP) — Kansas City Chiefs wide receiver Xavier Worthy cleared the concussion protocol and was back at practice on Friday, a good sign for a wide receiver group that has had its share of bumps and bruises throughout training camp. Chiefs coach Andy Reid said Worthy was placed in the protocol after hitting his head while trying to make a catch during practice Wednesday. But an evaluation showed that fluid in Worthy's ear was causing problems with equilibrium, and that he did not have an actual concussion, allowing doctors to clear him quickly. The Chiefs were still missing Marquise Brown to an ankle injury and fellow wide receiver Skyy Moore to an ailing hamstring on Friday, while linebacker Drue Tranquill was forced to depart practice after straining his back. Worthy is expected to be a big part of a Kansas City offense that wants to push the ball downfield more this season. He set the NFL scouting combine record last year for the fastest 40-yard dash, and the second-year pro turned those dynamic numbers into a rookie season that produced 59 catches for 638 yards and six touchdowns. Worthy then had 19 catches for 287 yards and three more scores in three playoff games, including the Super Bowl. In other news, the Chiefs waived injured cornerbacks Darius Rush and Eric Scott Jr. They signed wide receiver Key'Shawn Smith and cornerbacks Ajani Carter and Azizi Hearn to provide some depth at those positions. ___ AP NFL:

Tom Brady makes first appearance at Raiders training camp as minority owner

There was a Goat on the field today in Henderson. With the Raiders practicing, they had minority owner Tom Brady taking in the action. Several current Raiders players were teammates with Brady. Including WR Jakobi Meyers, LB Elandon Roberts, DT Adam Butler, LB Devin White, and G Alex Cappa. All five won Super Bowls with Brady, the latter two were on his team in Tampa. For that matter, so was the Raiders GM John Spytek who was the Bucs' assistant GM that year. Brady just retired from the NFL two seasons ago, so there are a good many players on this team who faced him on the field as well. These days, however, he is in an advisory role. As minority owner he literally has a stake in the success of the frnachise. And with his breadth of knowledge and respect as a seven-time Super Bowl champion, he has the ear of Raiders brass whenever they ask for his opinion on adding players. And for the first time -- at least for a media attended practice -- he watched some of those players on the practice field.
