New Delhi, Aug 12 (PTI) The Delhi Traffic Police celebrated the forthcoming 79th Independence Day with a week-long 'Har Ghar Tiranga' campaign aimed at fostering patriotic spirit and reinforcing public respect for the national flag, officials said on Tuesday.
Students carried the national flag and raised patriotic slogans during the march, drawing attention and applause from bystanders and creating an atmosphere of national pride, it further added.
In a separate event at the Traffic Training Park, Punjabi Bagh, over 60 'Traffic Prahris' — citizen-volunteers who assist the Delhi Traffic Police — were honoured for their contributions to road safety and discipline, the statement read.
ACP (Road Safety Cell) Anil Tomar held an interactive session with the volunteers, highlighting the role of the Traffic Prahri mobile application, which enables real-time reporting of traffic violations. Reports leading to enforcement action are rewarded, the officials said.
Special Commissioner of Police (Traffic) Ajay Chaudhary, Additional Commissioner of Police (Traffic) Satyavir Katara and Deputy Commissioners of Police Shashank (Traffic HQ-I) and S K Singh (Traffic HQ-II) attended the events and appreciated the efforts of both students and volunteers, the statement read.

The top court directed the authorities to take Darshan and other accused into custody forthwith and ordered that the trial be conducted expeditiously. 'Our faith in the government, judiciary and police has increased after the Supreme Court cancelled actor Darshan's bail. We thank the government. Our aim is to see that the criminal is punished. Following the court order, security at Ballari prison has been tightened amid indications that Darshan may be shifted there. Delhi traffic alert! Police issue advisory for Har Ghar Tiranga walkathon today
The Delhi Traffic Police issued a traffic advisory on Thursday regarding a walkathon event being held under the 'Har Ghar Tiranga 2025' campaign, scheduled for August 14, 2025. The walkathon will take place from Kamla Market to Central Park, Connaught Circus, with an expected participation of around 5,000 students. In a post on X, the Delhi traffic police shared the route of the walkathon, which will cover the following points: The route of the walkathon is Hamdard Chowk, Round About Kamla Market, Minto Road, Ajmeri Gate Chowk, Bhavbhuti Marg, Sarvodya Kanya Vidhyalaya R.S. Flyover, Press Cut, Tagore Road Red Light, Mata Sundari College, DDU Marg, Minto Road Light ,and Enter Connaught Circus. There will be diversion/restriction on Hamdard Chowk, Round About Kamla Market, Minto Road, Ajmeri Gate Chowk, Bhavbhuti Marg, R.S. Flyover, Tagore Road Red Light, Mata Sundari College, DDU Marg, and Minto Road Light. No heavy vehicles and buses shall be permitted on these roads, it said, mentioning that the commuters are requested to avoid the following roads on 14.08.2025 from 9.30 AM to 12 PM on the day of the walkathon. There is no parking facility available at Mata Sundari Road. There is no parking for general public. No vehicles shall be allowed to be parked on Ajmeri Gate Chowk, Bhavbhuti Marg, DDU, JLN Marg and Minto Road (Both carriageways) on the day of the walkathon.
