School jobs case: ED summons Bengal minister for questioning
Sources aware of the development said that Sinha had been asked to be present at the ED's office at the central government office (CGO) Complex at Salt Lake in the northern outskirts of Kolkata on July 31
On that day, Sinha, had been asked to be present at the ED's office with his bank accounts and property details. However, Sinha had refrained from making any comments to the media persons over the notice from the ED.
This is the second time that ED has summoned Sinha in connection with the school-job case in West Bengal. Earlier, in September last year, he arrived at ED's office in Salt Lake and faced questioning in the matter.
The ED officials first secured the name of the minister from the diary of the middleman and now-suspended Trinamool Congress leader Kuntal Ghosh, who was later arrested by the central agency officials. In fact in March last year, the ED officials conducted raid and search operations at the minister's residence at Bolpur in Birbhum district.
After the raid and search operations, the ED officials seized cash of Rs 41 lakh and a mobile phone from his residence.
Sinha is known to be close to Trinamool Congress strongman and the former district president of the party in Birbhum, Anubrata Mondal.
Earlier in March last year, Sinha was also summoned by the ED for questioning in connection with the multi-crore cattle-smuggling case in West Bengal.

Delhi: 2 held for cheating vendors by issuing tenders under fake govt firm
New Delhi, Jul 29 (PTI) Delhi Police has arrested two persons for allegedly duping several merchants and vendors of crores of rupees by posing as representatives of a fake government trust and issuing tenders under it, an official said on Tuesday. The accused, Karunakar alias Ratnakar Upadhyay (40) and Anita Upadhyay (35) were held in connection with a case registered at the Economic Offences Wing (EOW) police station based on multiple complaints, including one by a retired army officer, they said. According to officials, the two are graduates and were unemployed. They turned to fraud for easy money. Ratnakar is involved in multiple criminal cases in Uttar Pradesh, Chhattisgarh and Delhi, including a rape case registered against him at Paharganj police station in 2023, while Anita was previously arrested in a similar case in Chhattisgarh. 'The duo posed as representatives of a fake trust named Rashtriya Gramin Saksharta Mission (RGSM), which they claimed was a Government of India undertaking. They also created a fake website and opened a bank account in the name of the mission to lend authenticity to their claims," Additional Commissioner of Police (EOW) Amrutha Guguloth said. The accused allegedly induced vendors to register for supplying uniforms, school bags, medical kits and other materials meant for distribution among underprivileged students in various states. After taking delivery of the goods, the two failed to make payments, the officer said. 'In one case, complainant Retired Captain Shivender Singh Bakshi was duped of nearly Rs 2 crore under the pretext of commission for tender allotment and supply of school uniforms," he added. Three other similar complaints from merchants are under investigation. The investigation revealed that Ratnakar had created the fake website and operated the bank account, from which he withdrew approximately Rs 3.5 crore for personal use. Anita, who was presented as the head of mission also received funds from the account and played an active role in the conspiracy, the officer said. Police said the accused were arrested in a case on July 16 and again in another case on July 21. Both were remanded to police custody by a local court. During the probe, two truckloads containing around 45,000 school uniforms valued at approximately Rs 1.5 crore — supplied by complainant Bakshi — were recovered. The accused had earlier been arrested by Chhattisgarh Police in a similar case involving RGSM-related fraud. Rs 4700000000000: Enemy has 1650 fighter jets, India has only 522; India needs huge money for..., will IAF be able to...
(File) In an environment which is political tensed and tensions continue to simmer across India's borders with China and Pakistan, various questions are being asked about the Indian Air Force's preparedness vis-à-vis India's two neighbours, Pakistan and China. According to various reports, China has 66 squadrons of fighter jets with each squadron having 18 to 20 planes each, taking the total number to 1200, which is nearly double the number of aircrafts 600 fighter aircrafts. Here are all the details you need to know about Indian Airforce's current capacity. Indian Airforce vs China and Pakistan Apart from China, India's enemy Pakistan has 25 squadrons of fighter jets having around 450 fighter jets. Therefore, if India retires the two squadrons of Mig-21 planes which are expected to retire in the next few days, the capacity of the Indian Air Force is expected to decrease. What does Indian Air Force need? As per media reports, the cost of a single jet was estimated at around Rs 1,600 crore. Considering inflation and upgrades, the current price of a Rafale or its advanced variant is unlikely to be below Rs 2,000 crore per jet. Given that India requires 234 fighter jets, the total cost of the procurement deal is projected to be approximately Rs 4.70 lakh crore, as per a report by News 18 Hindi. India's 5th-generation stealth fighter jet gets key clearance In an important development for India's air superority, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh approved the Execution Model for the Advanced Medium Combat Aircraft (AMCA) programme. As per a report by IANS news agency, the AMCA clearance marks a critical step towards realising India's goal of joining an elite club of nations in designing and producing its own fleet of next-generation combat aircraft. The IANS report also says that the project will be helmed by the Aeronautical Development Agency (ADA) of the Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO), said the Defence Ministry in a press release. The AMCA, widely seen as India's answer to fifth-generation air power, will give a major boost to achieving 'atmanirbharata' in the defence sector and will become a hallmark of India's growing defence capabilities.
