Riize releases first studio album 'Odyssey', to perform in KL in July
Riize, under SM Entertainment, made a long-awaited return last week with its first full-length album, Odyssey , coming nearly 11 months since the band's debut. The album, according to the group, defines their identity and reflects their ongoing journey of growth.
"If someone were to ask, 'What kind of group is Riize?' I think this album would be enough to answer that," Wonbin said at a media showcase in Seoul on Monday.
It continues our Real-Time Odyssey concept and contains the footprints and stories of Riize's growth, Sohee added. You'll feel that clearly in every track.
Odyssey builds on the group's signature concept of documenting their path in real time — what they call a Real-Time Odyssey — and captures their nonstop evolution as they approach their second debut anniversary this year.

The album includes 10 tracks that embody Riize's signature sound, which they describe as emotional pop. Arranged to reflect both external ambition and internal reflection, the track list draws from the members' personal experiences and emotions.
Fly Up is a dynamic dance track that channels the energy of 1950s rock 'n' roll. Backed by powerful rhythms and choir vocals, the song conveys the group's desire to unite listeners.
"Fly Up means that anyone can become one through our music, regardless of age, nationality or gender," Sohee said.
Wonbin added, "When I first heard the song, I immediately thought it was great. It also reminded me of Get a Guitar . I felt confident we could pull it off. The performance is also really good."
Speaking about the choreography, Sungchan said, "Our performance has a musical-like structure. There's a lot to watch. Each member has their own killing point in the choreography, so your eyes will stay busy. And just like the title suggests, there are jump movements and gestures that resemble flying."

As their first studio album, Odyssey also presented new challenges for the group.
"There were definitely more songs than in our previous releases, and a lot of new genres we hadn't tried before," said Eunseok. "It was difficult at times, but thankfully, the people around us helped us a lot, and I think it turned out well."
Wonbin noted that while he personally enjoys R&B and ballads, tackling the album's hip-hop elements was a challenge. "Hip-hop is a difficult genre for me, so singing those parts wasn't easy," he said.
Following the release, Riize will embark on its first world tour under the title 2025 Riize Concert Tour Riizing Loud. Kicking off in Seoul in July, the tour takes the group to 14 cities across Asia, including Hyogo prefecture in Japan, Hong Kong, Saitama and Hiroshima in Japan, Kuala Lumpur in Malaysia, Fukuoka in Japan again, Taiwan capital Taipei, Tokyo, Bangkok, Indonesian capital Jakarta, Manila in the Philippines, Singapore and Macao, through February 2026.
Looking ahead to the tour, Shotaro said, Now that we have more songs through this album, I hope we can enjoy them with Briize (Riize's fandom) around the world. I'd love for us to create a lively space together, just for us and our global Briize. — The Korea Herald/Asia News Network

#SHOWBIZ: Indonesia's 'Soundtrack Queen' makes good her promise with magical show
LAST year acclaimed Indonesian singer-songwriter Melly Goeslaw promised Malaysian fans that she would be returning to the Axiata Arena for yet another concert, the third in her on-going Ada Apa Dengan Melly & Friends? series. If her concert on June 1 last year was themed Graduation Night, this year's was Prom Night naturally. The Indonesian music legend, dubbed the Queen Of Soundtracks, put another 9,000 fans under her musical spell for two-and-a-half hours at the arena as she sang 26 of her hits, including medleys, with ample sing-along opportunities for the cheering audience. Ably assisted by four pop musicians headed by her husband Anto Hoed, plus a 12-member orchestra, the 51-year-old singer also had three guest artistes namely Indonesian actor Nicholas Saputra of the hit 2002 movie 'Ada Apa Dengan Cinta?' (AADC) which she scored, promising new Indonesian pop singer Dinda Ghania, and Malaysia's very own award-winning singer Aina Abdul. Several Malaysian and Indonesian artistes attended the 9pm concert, and Melly introduced them at the start of the show. They included Datuk Seri Siti Nurhaliza, Datuk Amy, Elite and Indonesian singer-actor Raffi Ahmad. Melly's evening began with the fast-paced 'Ku Bahagia'. This popular song from the soundtrack of AADC saw her guests sing along from the word "go" and ended with Melly saying: "Thank you Malaysia, I love you all." UNIVERSAL After her second song 'Ingin Mencintai Dan Dicintai', she remarked: "Music is the universal language. We may not speak the same language, but all of us love good music." As the guitarists strummed their instruments louder, the guests knew that Melly's next song was 'Pencinta Wanita', made popular by Irwansyah, the star of the 2006 tear-jerker movie 'Heart'. Fans sportingly sang the first few lines as well as the chorus, and Melly remarked that "party time has finally begun". SAD SONG After 'Malam Pertama', a song about first dates, Melly belted out 'Suara Hati Seorang Kekasih', a sad song about the challenges of a relationship, and 'Sampai Ku Menutup Mata', a poignant anthem about endless love. Melly introduced her fans to 'Jika', the song which landed her in KL back in the early 2000s, and it sounded great with a jazzy new arrangement. 'Jika' was followed by another good rearrangement, 'Gantung', a sentimental number about abruptly ended relationships. THICK Melly said: "True friends stand by you through thick and thin, you will only know who they are when you are down." This signalled her next song 'Cinta Sejati', which sounded like an ode to romantic love but was really about friendship. Melly's first medley came next in the form of 'Bimbang' and 'Denting'. The first song was a sing-along about fighting feelings of love while the second was about sleepless nights. WHITE Melly then introduced one of her favourite Malaysian singers, whom she dubbed as the country's Lady Gaga. Aina Abdul emerged majestically on stage, dressed in a flowing white dress inspired by the white peacock, to deliver a power-packed and soulful version of 'Cinta', the theme from Kabir Bhatia's hit 2006 movie of the same name. Melly then talked about three of her favourite Malaysian singers and hinted that her next medley would feature popular songs from two of them in the audience. She sang 'Janji Manismu' made popular by Datuk Aishah Ariffin, 'Isabella' made popular by Search and 'Betapa Ku Cinta Padamu' made popular by Siti. MARCELL Another monster hit from AADC came shortly after the less known 'Di Mana Malumu', a song about treating one's partner cruelly. It was 'Hanya Memuji', which was made popular by Indonesian singers Shanty and Marcell Siahaan and has always been in Melly's "must sing" list. Melly's next two songs were 'Tentang Seseorang', an ode to her Mr Right, and 'Berdua Lebih Baik', the most "sunshiny" song for the concert. MOTHERS Melly's second guest singer came next, looking sweet and stunning. Dinda performed 'Jangan Pernah Berubah' with Melly and 'Bunda', a passionate tribute to mothers. The final guest artiste emerged next as a poet. Nicholas recited a poem by his AADC character Rangga, as fans cheered and screamed, and this heralded Melly's return to the stage to sing the title track of AADC in a medley which included Ratusan Purnama. BBB The theme song for another well-known romantic comedy 'Eiffel I'm In Love' (2003) was Melly's next number. Titled 'Tak Tahan Lagi', it also proved a fan favourite. Melly then got everyone dancing with 'Let's Dance Together', her 2006 duet with BBB, and 'Hey Ladies', a 2009 hit for Datuk Seri Rossa. "I've had a great time in KL and I've also visited the wonderful Cameron Highlands. Thank you so much Malaysia," said Melly. CAMERON HIGHLANDS The singer had a brief drink before giving her fans 'Salah', 'Bagaikan Langit', 'I Just Wanna Say' and 'Demikianlah', and all three guests joined her. While Melly may not be a powerhouse diva like Krisdayanti, she is very much a star in Indonesia. Indonesia's best known female composer and lyricist, she is a "hit maker" whose songs have adorned many drama and movie soundtracks.

#SHOWBIZ: 'Teman Sejati' marks as Nidji's first OST for animation film
KUALA LUMPUR: Indonesian pop-rock band Nidji is honoured that their heartfelt single, 'Teman Sejati', has been chosen as the official soundtrack (OST) for 'Ejen Ali The Movie 2'. This marks their first-ever collaboration with an animated feature film. The song, from the band's latest album 'Manifestasi Hati' released earlier this year, was composed and written by Nidji's guitarist, Andi Ariel Harsya. It was originally penned in 2019, long before the band envisioned its future on the big screen. "Actually, the song had been written for quite some time, since 2019. So, when we were approached by the film production for the song to become an OST, we felt very honoured," said Andi when met at a press conference held at Balai Berita, here, today. He added, "When we recorded it, we never set a target for it to be chosen as an OST for any production, so this is beyond our expectations. It's really divine intervention." The track, with its stirring lyrics and soaring melody, perfectly complements the themes of friendship, courage, and resilience explored in the movie. Other band members — Yusuf Ubay, Randy Danishta, Ramadhista Akbar, Adri Perkasa, and Andro Regantoro — were also present at the event. Meanwhile, according to Azri Yunus, the film's score composer, music plays an equally vital role as the story itself in shaping a cinematic experience. "When a film is made, while 50 per cent of it is its story, the other half comes from its audio, including sound effects and music," he explained. "When I first heard this song from Nidji, it was a spot-on choice. From its lyrics to its melody, it's a perfect song as the film's OST." Azri, along with Usamah Zaid Yasin, founder of WAU Animation and creator of Ejen Ali, carefully integrated the song into the film by aligning it with pivotal scenes through detailed storyboard discussions. 'Ejen Ali The Movie 2', which premiered on May 22, sees Ali become the pilot for a high-stakes mission under Satria, an elite programme powered by an AI-assisted mecha suit. Once again set in the futuristic city of Cyberaya, this time Ali's mission takes a darker turn when the renegade Ejen Rizwan enlists Ali's help to uncover the true mastermind behind escalating threats in Cyberaya.
