Qua Russaw shared list of Alabama football leaders this spring. And a Crimson Tide QB made the cut
When the Alabama football linebacker stepped up for an interview, Russaw said he was one of a handful of players voted by Crimson Tide teammates as a "leader" this spring, a role he said he's "stepping into."

"As a team, we had voting," Russaw said. "And I was one of the guys they selected. So I'm working on my talking skills, talking to some of the younger guys and trying to get going."
While the list may not be exhaustive, and the role itself may not be defined, Russaw did give an idea of the other Alabama players voted as "leaders."
On defense, Russaw said he's joined by defensive linemen Tim Keenan III and LT Overton, while on offense, Russaw named quarterback Ty Simpson and offensive tackle Kadyn Proctor.
In March, Alabama offensive lineman Geno VanDeMark named Simpson as a member of his Alabama football "starting five" in basketball, crediting his experience and his comfort with the offense as a whole.

"For Ty, I think it's his veteran aspect. He's relaxed out there — so is (Austin) Mack too," VanDeMark said. "You can tell it's not really getting to him in terms of getting all nervous or anything."
Alabama will hold its annual A Day spring game at Bryant-Denny Stadium at noon April 12.

Auburn makes major announcement for Iron Bowl weekend
Auburn makes major announcement for Iron Bowl weekend originally appeared on The Sporting News Bo Jackson's Return to Auburn will include the 40th anniversary of his Heisman glory. When Jackson suited up for the Tigers in 1982, fans knew he was special. But no one could've predicted he'd become a sports icon. A two-sport pro athlete, a Nike ad legend, and one of the most dominant forces in college football history. Now, Auburn is making sure that legacy never fades. On Nov. 29, during this year's Iron Bowl, the Tigers will honor the 40th anniversary of Jackson's 1985 Heisman Trophy season. A tribute fit for a giant, as Bo's name will echo through Jordan-Hare Stadium once again. A Heisman Season for the Ages In 1985, Jackson didn't just play football, he redefined it. He rushed for 1,786 yards and 17 touchdowns, averaging a staggering 6.4 yards per carry. At the time, that rushing total ranked second in SEC history. And even now, four decades later, it's a benchmark that defines greatness. That season earned Jackson Auburn's second Heisman Trophy, solidifying his place in college football history. But it was more than numbers, it was the way he played. Grace, speed, and pure strength. More Than Just a Football Star Jackson wasn't just dominant on the gridiron. He starred in three sports, football, baseball, and track during his time on The Plains. After Auburn, he made sports history again, becoming the only athlete ever named an All-Star in both the NFL and MLB. He played eight seasons in the majors and was named the 1989 MLB All-Star Game MVP. In the NFL, he ran for 2,782 yards and 16 touchdowns in just four seasons with the Raiders before a hip injury ended his football career in 1991. A Tribute 40 Years in the Making Now, Auburn is bringing it full circle. Jackson will be honored during this year's Iron Bowl, which is historically Auburn's biggest stage. It's not just about looking back. It's about reminding fans, recruits, and rivals alike what excellence looks like. 'Bo's 1985 season ranks among the greatest in the storied history of Auburn and the Southeastern Conference,' said AD John Cohen. 'It is our privilege to honor Bo.' Watch: Alabama football walk-on offensive lineman receives full scholarship
An Alabama football offensive lineman has a full scholarship for his redshirt senior season. According to a video posted by the University of Alabama Name, Image and Likeness collective Friday, August. 15, Graham Roten, a fifth-year offensive lineman out of Nashville, Tennessee, received a scholarship from 68 Ventures, a development and investment company based in Daphne, Alabama. "Everything that they have taken from here, wanting to give back," Alabama coach Kalen DeBoer said of 68 Ventures founder Nathan Cox. "And I know this has been on Nathan's heart for a while. We've been talking about this, swapping emails. He's put a lot into what he wanted this scholarship ... this 68 Ventures support for one of you walk-ons, including everything that a scholarship player would have: room and board, tuition, books, fees, all of it." DeBoer then announced Roten as the recipient, who was mobbed by his offensive line teammates. "Forever grateful for the opportunity to be (a part) of this program for the past 5 years," Roten wrote on his Instagram story. Cox said Roten was the only player who pulled Cox aside at a spring practice and talked with him about what he wanted to pursue after football with his business degree. Roten played in two games for Alabama in 2024: Western Kentucky and Mercer. He was offensive scout team player of the week ahead of the Western Kentucky opener. Roten also played in Alabama's 2023 win against Chattanooga. Alabama football opens the 2025 season at Florida State Aug. 30. Alabama football 2025 season preview, predictions: Kadyn Proctor
There are few offensive linemen across college football better at their respective position entering the 2025 season than Alabama Crimson Tide left tackle Kadyn Proctor. Entering year three in Tuscaloosa, Proctor was a day one starter at Alabama who joined the program as a top recruit in the Crimson Tide's 2023 class. However, Proctor's time in Tuscaloosa has not come entirely without bumps in the road, as the former top recruit in fact struggled at times as a true freshman, and even left the program entirely at one point via the transfer portal. One of the most important players on the Crimson Tide's 2025 roster, here is a look at everything you need to know about Alabama offensive tackle Kadyn Proctor entering the 2025 season. Kadyn Proctor player information Kadyn Proctor career stats Over the past two seasons, Proctor has started all 24 games which he has played for the Crimson Tide at left tackle. Proctor was a SEC All-Freshman selection during the 2023 season, and also earned Second Team All-SEC honors a year ago. Kadyn Proctor 2024 stats Proctor was back as Alabama's starting left tackle during the 2024 season, starting all 11 games which he played. A mainstay of Alabama's offensive line when healthy, Proctor earned Second Team All-SEC honors. Kadyn Proctor recruiting ranking One of the highest-rated offensive linemen in program history, Proctor came to Alabama ranked as the nation's No. 10 overall prospect in the 2023 recruiting class, per the 247Sports Composite rankings. A five-star prospect who committed to Alabama in Dec. 2022 after flipping from Iowa, Proctor was also ranked the No. 2 offensive tackle nationally, as well as the top player in the state of Iowa where he attended Southeast Polk High School. Last offseason, Proctor was considered by 247Sports as the No. 2 overall player in the transfer portal, as well as the top offensive lineman. Rated a five-star prospect, Proctor committed to Alabama again in April 2024 after previously transferring to Iowa in Jan. 2024. Kadyn Proctor 2025 season outlook Projected as a top 2026 NFL draft pick, expect Proctor to be one of college football's best overall players this fall. Proctor will start every game for the Crimson Tide at left tackle this season, which will be his third-straight year in Tuscaloosa as the top name at the position. The junior should also be one of the top left tackles, as well as overall offensive lineman, in college football this season, and has already been named to the preseason watch lists for a few honors such as the Outland Trophy. Overall, expect a stellar 2025 season for Proctor as Alabama's starting left tackle, and for the junior to eventually receive a few honors at seasons end on both a conference and national level.
