Real Madrid, Liverpool interested in €50 million-rated South American centre-back
Real Madrid are looking into the possibility of reinforcing their centre-back department in the summer given the advancing ages of David Alaba and Antonio Rudiger, both of whom have contracts that expire in 2026.

As has already been reported, Bournemouth and Spain defender Dean Huijsen is seen as the priority objective for the position.
But given the competition for his services, it makes sense for the Spanish capital club to have alternative targets lined up in case Huijsen does not arrive.
Real Madrid eye Piero Hincapie
As such, Sky Germany reports that Real Madrid are interested in Bayer Leverkusen and Ecuador defender Piero Hincapie.
The 23-year-old centre-back has been with the German champions since 2021 and has grown into a key player at the club and was an integral part of their title-winning campaign under Xabi Alonso last season.

Hincapie has a contract with the Bundesliga giants until 2029, having signed a renewal in December last year.

But the Ecuadorian international continues to attract interest from top clubs across Europe. Real Madrid are among the South American star's admirers while in the Premier League, Liverpool are also said to be interested.
The fact that Xabi Alonso is being touted as the potential replacement for Carlo Ancelotti at the Santiago Bernabeu might give more credence to the links, especially with reports emerging that the Italian is now reconsidering his future at the club.
However, as mentioned above, Huijsen remains the main target for Real Madrid if they do decide to sign a new centre-back some summer.

VfB Stuttgart join Bayer Leverkusen in the race for Manchester City's James McAtee

Sky Germany reports that VfB Stuttgart have added Manchester City's James McAtee to their shortlist, likely as a potential replacement for Enzo Millot. Stuttgart are monitoring several different profiles in the position, with McAtee being a new one added. This is likely due to the future of Enzo Millot being up in the air. The DFB-Pokal winner has been linked with a move away this summer for several months now, and despite a poor season, Millot showed his level in the Pokal final, where he scored twice against Arminia Bielefeld. Advertisement However, Stuttgart are not the only Bundesliga side interested. Eintracht Frankfurt are said to have made an enquiry, while Bayer Leverkusen are also interested. die Werkself have been linked with McAtee as a potential replacement for Florian Wirtz. The 22-year-old is said to be interested in the chance of playing in the Bundesliga. McAtee has mainly been a peripheral figure for City this season, playing 27 times in all competitions and scoring seven times. GGFN | Jack Meenan

Milan show interest in Bayer Leverkusen's Granit Xhaka

After causing a stir suggesting that a return to Basel was imminent, Granit Xhaka has since stated that he's happy at Bayer Leverkusen, where he has three-years remaining on his current contract. However, that hasn't stopped clubs showing an interest in the Swiss midfielder. According to Kicker, Milan have shown 'loose interest' as they prepare for a new era under Massimiliano Allegri as their new head coach and Igli Tare as sporting director. Speaking earlier in the week, Bayer Leverkusen sporting director Simon Rolfes confirmed that the club are planning to go into the 2025/26 season with Xhaka, as they too embark on a new era after Erik ten Hag replaced Xabi Alonso as head coach. Advertisement But the fact that Leverkusen retain interest in Malick Thiaw could work in Milan's favour. Last season's second-placed Bundesliga side are scouring the market for a Jonathan Tah replacement and have identified the Milan defender as a candidate. Whether or not Xhaka could be used in a makeshift is, as of now, unfounded. GGFN | Daniel Pinder

Brighton targeting Leicester's Jelle ten Rouwelaar as new goalkeeping coach

Brighton & Hove Albion are targeting Jelle ten Rouwelaar as their new goalkeeping coach, with the Dutchman's future in doubt at Leicester City. Head coach Fabian Hurzeler is keen to reunite Ten Rouwelaar with Brighton's first-choice goalkeeper and fellow countryman Bart Verbruggen. The pair have worked together previously at NAC Breda in the Netherlands and Belgian club Anderlecht. Advertisement Ten Rouwelaar arrived at Leicester with head coach Ruud van Nistelrooy in November. The Dutchmen were part of the backroom team at Manchester United under former manager Erik ten Hag. Their futures are up in the air following Leicester's relegation from the Premier League. Hurzeler began an overhaul of his backroom staff at the Amex Stadium this week with the departures of goalkeeping coaches Marco Knoop and Jack Stern. Knoop arrived last summer with Hurzeler from German club St Pauli. Stern, a boyhood Brighton supporter, joined the club in 2022, working under Hurzeler and former head coaches Roberto De Zerbi and Graham Potter. Knoop was also defensive set piece coach. Brighton are hiring a set piece specialist this summer as well as a new goalkeeping coach after finishing eighth in the Premier League in Hurzeler's first season. ()
