Aamir Khan also revealed which of Salman Khan's films are his favourite.
Aamir Khan recently attended an event for his upcoming film, Sitaare Zameen Par, where he discussed Shah Rukh Khan and Salman Khan's best works, according to his taste. Aamir revealed that he liked early SRK films like DDLJ, and that he hasn't watched his newer movies like Jawan and Pathaan. As for Salman, Aamir picked two films from different genres.
Aamir Khan said, 'My favourite performances of Salman's are Bajrangi Bhaijaan and Dabangg. As for Shah Rukh, I really loved Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge. Kuch Kuch Hota Hai is one of my favourite films of his. I haven't seen his recent films Pathaan and Jawan."
Sometime ago, Aamir teased that there might be a film with the three Khans together. He had said, 'Salman, Shah Rukh, and I would love to work together… We are waiting for the right script to come. I think the audience also wants to see us together, and we have discussed it as well. If any good story comes (our way), we will definitely do it."
As for Aamir Khan's own work, his upcoming film, Sitaare Zameen Par, is facing controversy as fans have learnt that the film could be a 'frame-by-frame" copy of Champions, the English remake of the Spanish film, Campeones. Amid this row, Aamir Khan appeared on Raj Shamani's podcast and defended the idea of making remakes in Bollywood.
Aamir Khan said, 'Laal Singh (Chaddha) ke baad, mujhe bohot logo ne bola ki aap phir remake bana rahe ho. Laal Singh mein bohot aapko trolling hui thi, ki aapne remake banayi, remake banayi. Lekin kya hai, main thoda pagal type ka aadmi hun, practical cheezein mujhe samajh mein nahi aati."
He added, 'Mujhe koi problem nahi hai remake karne mein. Mujhe nahi lagta hai meri creativity kum ho rahi hai, at all. Kyunki main apne liye toh naya kaam kar raha hun. Kisi aur ne yeh kahani banayi hai, ab main isko apna nazariya de raha hun."
Aamir Khan explained, 'Shakespeare ko main dobara kar raha hun, usmein apni jaan main daal raha hun. Toh remakes ka yeh jo discussion hai naa, yeh mujhe bohot fizool lagta hai. Aur isme main believe hi nahi karta hun."
For the unversed, the trailer for Aamir Khan's film was released recently, and netizens quickly recognised that the scenes were the same as those of the English-language film. Champions is available for viewing on JioHotstar. The film's synopsis on the site reads, 'A disgraced coach mentors a team of intellectually disabled athletes, revealing their surprising abilities and changing his own life." The plot is similar to what is hinted at in Sitaare Zameen Par's trailer.

Aamir Khan reveals it was Amitabh Bachchan who supported the idea of Sitaare Zameen Par's theatre-only release

Aamir Khan is returning to the big screen after three years with his next, Sitaare Zameen Par. The film is looking for an exclusive release in theatres on June 20. Aamir has previously stated that he wants to keep the film in theatres and avoid immediate release on OTT platforms. Now, in an interaction with India Today, he shared how Amitabh Bachchan encouraged him to pursue this release model. (Also read: Sitaare Zameen Par title song: Aamir Khan, Genelia D'Souza spread joy in peppy number, fans call it 'OG sports anthem') During the interaction, Aamir shared that even though he has no issue with any streaming platforms, he was unable to find logic in the timeline in which a film has a theatrical release and then premieres on OTT within the next few weeks. He added that it was Amitabh Bachchan who encouraged him to take the risk and stick to his beliefs with the theatre-only release. Aamir added, 'I am a loyalist of cinema, and I believe in it. Yes, it's a big risk, and there's a lot [of money] involved. If I don't get that chunk of my pre-sales, and the film doesn't work, it could lead to a major loss. I did receive offers, but I turned them down because I want audiences to go to theatres and watch my film. I believe in cinema, and I believe in my audience." Sitaare Zameen Par is the spiritual sequel to the 2007 hit film Taare Zameen Par. The film, which sees him play a basketball coach training a team of players with special needs, is a remake of the Spanish film Campeones. It is directed by RS Prasanna. Produced by Aamir Khan Productions, the film introduces 10 actors: Aroush Datta, Gopi Krishna Varma, Samvit Desai, Vedant Sharma, Ayush Bhansali, Ashish Pendse, Rishi Shahani, Rishabh Jain, Naman Mishra, and Simran Mangeshkar.

Mission Admission 2025: Panel looks past engineering, talks specialisations for future-ready careers

Bengaluru: If the dean in the famous Aamir Khan movie '3 Idiots' believed that sons must become engineers and daughters doctors, the panel discussion on 'Beyond Engineering: Hottest Specialised Courses for Future-Ready Careers' would've been an eye-opener for him. The session focused on multiple streams, including liberal arts, design, political science, and BBA, and the prospects they hold. "Traditionally, engineering has been the go-to career for all students. However, if you look at the current context, things have changed drastically. We saw the industrial revolution, computer revolution, and now the AI revolution. Each revolution displaced many jobs and created new ones. It's about how we adapt. The biggest currency isn't employment; it's employability. If you build your employability quotient, it doesn't matter what's happening," said Sunil C, country manager, Adecco India. Latha Krishnan, professor and dean, school of liberal studies, CMR University, explained how liberal arts is interdisciplinary and multidisciplinary in nature, making it extremely employable. "Suppose you take psychology as your major. You can have science like applied mathematics or data science as your minor. If you have philosophy, you can become a social scientist and have data science as your minor. Such combinations will help you become tech-fluent," she said. Julian Paret, director at Alliance Centre of Eurasian Studies at Alliance University, agreed and explained how political science is also multidisciplinary. "Political science is a very holistic discipline. Data science and political science is a very popular combination. For example, if you want to lead any kind of electoral campaign, you need to be able to manage data. The same goes for psychology, because you need to be able to anticipate what the trends of tomorrow are. And it is a subject open to almost everyone," he said. Abhinav Srivastava, assistant professor and HOD, Presidency School of Design, explained how design is everywhere. "Anyone who comes from an engineering background when designing something will try to understand what the man actually wants. And that is where the entire concept of user-centric designing and human-centric design came in. In the last decade, there has been an upsurge in the kind of products we use. This has given way to something called UX and UI," he said. Anirrban Ghosh, associate dean and admission chair, JAGSoM (Jagdish Sheth School of Management), described why BBA is vital before getting an MBA. "BBA is the foundation of management. A BBA teaches you how to be professional from day one. If you do a BBA, your career acceleration happens. Also, with a BBA, you get to do internships and can even convert them into pre-placement offers. Also, the industry connections you make will be another advantage.
