Ariana Grande's 'visits to Hampstead pub where she "threw away her reputation" with married Wicked co-star Ethan Slater' leaves it 'busier than ever' as fans descend on the boozer after she sang about it on new album

Daily Mail21-04-2025

has left The Holly Bush pub in Hampstead 'busier than ever' as fans descended on the venue after she sang about her secret visits on her new album.
The songstress, 31, is said to have unwound there after Wicked filming with her then married co-star and now boyfriend Ethan Slater, 32, leading to speculation she was referencing their relationship by singing it was at the pub she 'threw her away her reputation'.
The couple met while Ariana was still married to Dalton Gomez, 29, who she divorced last year after two years, and Ethan was with ex-wife Lilly Jay, 32, with whom he shares a two-year-old son.
Eagle-eyed fans worked out which pub Ariana was referencing after spotting she followed The Holly Bush pub on Instagram with many then taking to TikTok to document their 'pilgrimage' there.
In the track Hampstead, on her new album Eternal Sunshine Deluxe: Brighter Days Ahead, Ariana sings: 'I left my heart at a pub in Hampstead / And I misplaced my mind in a good way / Threw away my reputation / but saved us more heartache'.
A source told The Sun: 'It's safe to say profits are up. The pub has never been busier. Staff have no issue chatting to fans. But they are keeping the details of Ari's trips to a minimum.
'She used to visit the pub with Dalton then with Ethan. She was often seen in the private side room with her Wicked co-star Cynthia Erivo'.
The gastro pub which describes itself as 'nestled in the heart of Hampstead' has been awarded The AA Rosette award for culinary excellence and boasts £29 Sunday lunches as well as £12 glasses of wine.
MailOnline have contacted Ariana Grande's reps and The Holly Bush pub for comment.
'I was in Hampstead when I was here, and I loved my walks on the Heath,' she told Radio 1.
'I loved meandering around and visiting different shops and places and pubs.'
Elsewhere on the album fans have been left convinced that Ariana took a swipe at her ex-husband despite her previously having been quite circumspect about not mentioning him or airing their dirty laundry.
All that is over now, if the lines 'Were we just mistaken? / Disguised our intentions? / Our nest was a masquerade / Why do I still protect you? / Pretend these songs aren't about you' on the song Twilight Zone have fans convinced she's dissing Dalton.
The song Past Life also appears to be about Dalton and their marriage.

'Always wondered what would happen if I let you lose me / Always wondered what would happen if I let myself need more / Now I'm (I'm), fine (Fine), to leave you in a past life,' the chorus states.
In December Ethan's ex Lilly broke her silence on his romance with Ariana and emotionally opened up about their divorce and the 'public downfall of her marriage.'
In the essay published for The Cut, she penned about moving both herself and her then two-month-old baby boy to London while the actor filmed Wicked - before he left her for Ariana after they met on set of the movie.
Lilly further reflected on how she never expected to get a divorce after tying the knot with her high school sweetheart - but emphasised both she and her ex focus to positively co-parent their son.
Both she and Ethan had been married for five years and welcomed their baby boy to the world in August 2022. However, the divorce was finalised three months earlier in September.
'I confidently moved to another country with my 2-month-old baby and my husband to support his career. Consumed by the magic and mundanity of new motherhood, I didn't understand the growing distance between us,' Jay wrote.
She expressed there are 'days when I can't escape the promotion of a movie associated with the saddest days of my life are darker' as she while trying to 'accept the sudden public downfall of my marriage.'
'No-one gets married thinking they'll get divorced, in the same way we don't board a plane expecting to crash.'
Lilly then seemingly referenced to Ethan and Ariana with, 'I really never thought I would get divorced.'
'Especially not just after giving birth to my first child and especially not in the shadow of my husband's new relationship with a celebrity.'
'In this season of shock and mourning, over a year after the end of my marriage was made public, I deeply miss the life of invisibility I created for myself as a psychologist specialising in women's mental health.'

Dawn French apologises after being accused of underplaying October 7 attacks

British comedian and actress Dawn French has issued a public apology after a social media video she posted about the conflict in Gaza and Israel drew widespread criticism. The 67-year-old Vicar of Dibley star shared the video on X (formerly Twitter), using a baby-like voice to deliver a satirical monologue critiquing what she described as the justifications used by those supporting Israel's continued military campaign in Gaza. 'Complicated, no, but nuanced. But [the] bottom line is no,' she says in the video, before launching into a series of exaggerated, childlike impressions mimicking pro-Israel arguments. 'Yeah, but you know they did a bad thing to us… and we want that land… and we have history… Those people aren't really even people, are they?' Each segment is followed by French returning to her natural voice to declare: 'No.' The video, which has since been deleted, quickly amassed over 4.7million views and sparked a fierce backlash among some. Critics accused French of trivialising the October 7 Hamas attacks, in which over 1,200 Israelis were killed and hundreds taken hostage. Some viewers said her tone appeared to mock victims rather than leaders. In response to the outcry, French posted a lengthy apology on Instagram on Saturday, acknowledging that her attempt at satire had fallen short of the mark. 'I clumsily used a mocking tone,' she wrote. 'My intention was NEVER to mock, or dismiss, or diminish the horror of what happened on 7 October 2023 and what continues to unfold from that brutal, unthinkable, unforgivable savage [attack].' French said her real aim had been to 'mock and point the finger of shame at the behaviour of the cruel leaders on ALL sides of this attricious [sic] war,' but admitted that her message had come across as one-sided. 'I'm particularly sorry that my disgust at Hamas didn't figure. It appeared one-sided and that is wrong,' she said. She added that she had been motivated by a growing sense of helplessness and a desire to speak out against the escalating humanitarian crisis, particularly the suffering of children in Gaza. More Trending 'The images of starving and wounded children have haunted me day and night,' she wrote. 'History has taught us never to stand by and allow this kind of inhumane violence to be wrought on anyone, especially innocent children.' 'I hope you will understand my intention was not to offend, but clearly I have. For which I am sorry and I have removed the video.' French's apology has prompted mixed responses online, with some praising her for addressing the issue directly and others continuing to criticise the original post.
