Jake Paul discovers rich-list ranking after huge Mike Tyson purse
The 'Problem Child' continues to expand his various successful social media platforms - but it is not enough to earn him top spot in Forbes' top content creators list
YouTuber-turned-boxer Jake Paul has been ranked among the top content creators according to a newly released list by Forbes.
This year, Forbes' list of the richest creators across Instagram, TikTok, and YouTube earned an estimated $853 million (£629.4m) - an 18 per cent jump from 2024's record year. Unsurprisingly, given his successful year, Paul features fairly highly on the coveted list - but has missed out on top spot by quite a margin.
The 'Problem Child' sits third on the list with earning of $50m (£36.8m) - along with 2.33 per cent average engagement. Paul's clash with Mike Tyson marked Netflix 's first move into the world of boxing - and it is fair to say that it paid off. Immediately after the contest, Netflix dropped the figures for the event - with 60million households tuning in. The event hit a peak of 65million live streams.
Reports suggest that Paul made around $40m (£29.5m) for the clash with Tyson. The 28-year-old social media sensation would go on the beat the former heavyweight champion on points. Over the last year, the young American has also pocketed lucrative paydays for facing Mike Perry and Ryan Bourland. His presence online only got bigger when he teamed up with his brother for a more in depth look into their lives on HBO's new reality series, Paul American.
Earlier this year, Sports media publication Sportico released its "100 Highest-Paid Athletes in the World" list. The estimated figures that were shared included fighter purses and endorsement deals for the calendar year of 2024. Income from investments was not included. Paul was placed 52nd on the list - after reportedly earning $48m (£35.4m) with $38m (£28m) coming from his winnings, while the extra $10m (£7.3m) came from endorsements.
Despite his remarkable achievements, Paul's accomplishments were still not enough to earn him top spot. That belongs to YouTube phenom Mr. Beast - who pocketed $85m (£62.7m) in earnings. Mr. Beast - real name James Stephen Donaldson - continues to expand his empire beyond digital platforms with candy brand Feastables, fast food chain MrBeast Burger, and now streaming: his hit show, Beast Games, has been renewed for two seasons on Amazon Prime.
Dhar Mann - who is the producer of wholesome YouTube shows - has established full-fledged Hollywood studio and a team of hundreds to create modern back-to-school specials that have garnered billions of views. With his channel continuing to grow, the social media sensation sits in at number two on the list with - earning $56m (£41.3m).
Paul's older brother Logan fails to make the top ten after being placed in at number 15. Apart from his multiple business ventures, including the buzzy Prime Hydration, Paul inked a reality show with HBO where he and his brother Jake delve deep into their lives. The American reportedly earned $10m (£7.3m) from his various successes.
Ryan Detert, the founder and CEO of creator marketing firm Influential, who partnered with Forbes on the coveted list said: 'Next year, it's expected that influencer marketing will expand to $50 billion. The dollars are going into the hands of creators who are now the new media channels.'

Sheffield United line up Rubén Sellés to take over from Chris Wilder as manager
Sheffield United's American owners have risked upsetting their fanbase after deciding to sack Chris Wilder and replace him with Rubén Sellés. With confirmation of Wilder's departure expected shortly, United are believed to have entered advanced negotiations with Sellés, who was sacked by Hull last month. The Spaniard was left bitterly disappointed by that, having narrowly kept the East Yorkshire side in the Championship after his appointment last December. Wilder, too, is believed to be deeply upset by the decision of COH Sports, the consortium that owns United, to end his second spell in charge. He was contracted to 2028 and the delay in announcing his exit appears connected to negotiations regarding compensation. Despite starting the past season with a two-point deduction for financial irregularities, the Blades remained in strong contention for automatic promotion until almost the end before losing the playoff final 2-1 to Sunderland. Although much of the fanbase appeared in favour of retaining the 57-year-old, who led the Blades from League One to the Premier League in successive seasons during his first stint, Wilder is understood to have disagreed with the owners' enthusiasm for a heavily data-driven player recruitment system. COH Sports took over last December after buying out Prince Abdullah and, by the end of January, were so impressed with Wilder they offered him a three year contract extension. Sellés had brief spells in charge of Southampton and Reading after starting his coaching career in charge of Valencia University's first XI. Despite an ostensibly patchy managerial record, he has won plenty of admirers since arriving in England and is noted as a skilled developer of young players.

Dettori to ride at Ascot again in the future? ‘Never say never'
Frankie Dettori was in attendance at Royal Ascot (John Walton/PA) This article is brought to you by our exclusive subscriber partnership with our sister title USA Today, and has been written by our American colleagues. It does not necessarily reflect the view of The Herald. Frankie Dettori has not ruled out riding at Royal Ascot again at some point in the future, as he attended the opening day of the 2025 meeting as a spectator. The 54-year-old left the UK riding ranks in 2023 when he initially announced his retirement only to reverse that decision and begin a new life in America. Speaking to ITV Racing, the Italian said: 'I'm good, I flew here on Sunday after riding in Kentucky, it's my daughter's birthday, you know I love Royal Ascot. 'I still have the little devil in my ear saying 'one more time'. When I was driving here I was thinking how I missed it so much. 'Never say never, at the moment I didn't think it was appropriate to do it but who knows in the future. It's nice to be here and it's amazing racing through the week. 'I've got a different vibe today as I'm usually stressed out thinking about the racing but I'm seeing it from the other side of the fence. 'I'm all good at the moment, but there's a little tear in my eye that I'm not riding. Never say never! 'America is a new challenge to me, it's all new and at this stage of my career I'm having to prove myself again, it's a new experience'

Deontay Wilder sends cryptic 'betrayal' message ahead of return
The 'Bronze Bomber' has not fought since losing to Zhilei Zhang but is set to make a return to action next week despite facing calls to retire Former heavyweight world champion Deontay Wilder has opened up about some of the struggles he has dealt with ahead of his return to the ring. The 'Bronze Bomber' will return to the ring on June 27 and will take on heavyweight journeyman Tyrrell Herndon at the Charles Koch Arena in Wichita, Kansas. Wilder, 39, has not fought since losing to Zhilei Zhang last June. Prior to the shock knockout defeating to 'Big Bang,' the American was convincingly beaten by Joseph Parker. Wilder's last win inside the ring came back in 2022 against Robert Helenius. After losing four of his last five fights, many are wondering what the former world champion has got left to give to the sport. Despite the lack of activity, the boxing veteran announced that he would fight multiple times in 2025. Should he come away unscathed and with his hand raised next week, he is hoping for a busy year in the ring. During a recent appearance on the Ariel Helwani Show, Wilder seemed rather content in his personal life, as well as describing boxing as too dangerous for the word 'sport.' Fans were left bemused after the 'Bronze Bomber' sent a rather cryptic message ahead of his return, stating: "Anyone that has dealt with betrayal, you understand the feeling of it. You understand the pain that comes from it... It's like a dagger in your heart. I tell people it's 10 times worse than a heartbreak. "I can't go into too much details of a lot of things... it gave me a lot of PTSD or some other things. It got so bad for me that I had to get a sports psychologist and it really helped me out in many ways. It allowed me to put a lot of things on the shelf. The result comes to who I am right now. I am still here to be able to smile, to be able to talk, be able to have the health. I am cautious. I am more laid back now than ever before and I am more protected than I have ever been because... when you do things for certain people and you realise that it really was not worth it." Over the years, Wilder has been known to trade barbs with his rivals. But after his honest interview with Helwani, it seems as if much has changed in his life outside of the ring after his last outing. With Wilder hinting at having more than one fight this year, Dewey Cooper - the trainer of Francis Ngannou - has backed Wilder to call the 'Predator' out for a fight with a win over Herndon. In an interview with Slingo, Cooper said: 'We know the numbers. It's a whole different ball game [in boxing compared to MMA]. So yeah, there's definitely opportunities there. And he's blessed to have him. Francis was meant to be a boxer this whole time, so it's great to see someone finally get a chance to really go with their true passion. And that's boxing. ' Deontay Wilder is the fight we always wanted, so I think it's a spectacular, intriguing matchup. We know about his power that goes without saying, we know about Francis's power. We definitely know about Deontay Wilder's power. That's a spectacular match-up. And I think it's the fight that we can definitely win. Don't be surprised if, after Deontay fights, he's yelling Francis' name because he wants that fight as well.'
