Hiring in India's white-collar job market stable in March 2025: Report
Hiring trends in the Indian white-collar job market remained stable in March 2025, according to a report on Wednesday.
Most major sectors remained up and ended close to last year's base, with artificial intelligence and machine learning (AI-ML) making a significant mark, with hiring growing at 25 per cent year on year (YoY).
However, a few sectors ended up in the red as compared to March 2024: retail (-13 per cent), oil and gas (-10 per cent), and education (-14 per cent), reported IANS.
"We were expecting some transient dips owing to the extended
holiday
weekends in March. However, the overall Index and most major sectors staying stable vs. last year is a promising takeaway for us. Robust growth in pockets like AI-ML, emerging technologies, and senior professionals' cohort added a silver lining to the March trends,' said Dr.Pawan Goyal, chief business officer, Naukri.
Interestingly, the emerging-tech sub-sector under IT that comprises companies working in technologies like crypto and
blockchain
witnessed a +36 per cent growth. In addition, IT startups also witnessed a +11 per cent growth in March 2025.
"India's job market is heading for a major upswing in 2025, driven by rapid digital transformation, sectoral expansion, and the rise of flexible work models," according to Arghya Sarkar, Founder of Kolkata-based recruitment firm Recruitment Mantra.

Sarkar is not only a recruiter but also a TEDx speaker, YouTuber, and blogger.
'We are witnessing a pivotal shift not just in terms of quantity but in the quality and structure of employment being created,' Sarkar added.
Sarkar also emphasized the importance of India's burgeoning start-up ecosystem, now the third-largest in the world. "With continued support from initiatives like Start-up India, start-ups in health tech, ed-tech, and green tech are set to generate significant employment, especially for youth and first-time job seekers," he said.
The job market revealed a clear preference for specialised technological roles. Machine learning engineers topped the chart with an extraordinary +88 per cent growth, followed by search engineers at +39 per cent and investment banking analysts at +35 per cent, the report said.
Similarly, the design sector posted a +30 per cent YoY growth overall, with architecture and interior design sub-sectors seeing a +27 per cent growth in entry-level hiring, the report said.

Apple Event 2025: Liquid Glass meltdown? iOS 26 redesign explodes in memes and backlash — Here's why
Apple's unveiling of its all-new Liquid Glass design for iOS 26 at the WWDC 2025 event has triggered a wave of online chatter, with Twitter (X) emerging as the epicentre of global reactions. Billed as the most dramatic visual shift since iOS 7, the update marks a departure from Apple's long-standing minimalist aesthetic—but not all users seem impressed. The redesign, which brings a glass-like transparency and a sense of spatial depth to the iOS interface, was introduced with much fanfare. However, the (Twitterverse) Xverse—often the first to deliver unfiltered verdicts—offered a mixed, and at times humorous, response. Major Overhaul Raises Eyebrows Apple claims the Apple Liquid Glass design aims to blend elegance with functionality, bringing fluid visuals across native apps and throughout the operating system. The design incorporates translucent layers that shift with movement, aiming to create a more immersive, intuitive user experience. Drawing inspiration from the recently launched Apple Vision Pro and paving the way for the upcoming 20th-anniversary iPhone, iOS 26 is being positioned as a visual leap forward. Memes and Sarcasm: Users Respond Twitter/X users quickly responded with a barrage of memes and tongue-in-cheek commentary. Battery health concerns and performance issues were among the top gripes. One user wrote, Live Events 'My 85% battery health iPhone 13 trying to run Liquid Glass on iOS 26.' My 85% battery health iPhone 13 trying to run Liquid Glass on iOS 26 — GSX (@GigaSyntax) June 9, 2025 Another popular tweet mocked Apple's focus, saying, 'Market: 'we want AI.' "Liquid Glass" — Morning Brew ☕️ (@MorningBrew) June 9, 2025 So Apple is throwing accessibility to the wind with their liquid glass design? Despite the criticism, a section of the Apple faithful praised the bold visual shift, calling it 'a breath of fresh air' and a welcome evolution from the flat, clinical interface that had defined iOS for over a decade. Some drew comparisons to the skeuomorphic-to-flat transition seen in iOS 7, noting that early skepticism back then eventually gave way to widespread acceptance. Design experts have noted that Apple Liquid Glass design may signal a move toward more tactile, human-centric digital environments as hardware capabilities continue to grow. However, critics argue that such changes should enhance rather than complicate the user experience. What's next? With the public beta of iOS 26 expected in July and a full rollout planned for later this year, it remains to be seen whether Apple will refine aspects of the design based on user feedback—or if it will stick to its vision, betting that initial resistance will fade with time. Until then, Twitter remains a real-time forum for users grappling with the implications of translucent icons and shimmering menu bars—one witty post at a time. FAQs What is the Liquid Glass design in iOS 26? Liquid Glass is Apple's new design language for iOS 26, featuring translucent, glass-like interface elements that shift dynamically based on ambient light and device movement. It brings depth, spatial layering, and fluid visuals to the operating system. When was the Liquid Glass design announced? Apple unveiled the Liquid Glass design at its WWDC 2025 event, positioning it as the most significant iOS visual redesign since iOS 7.

US Pizza Chain Little Caesars Eyes India Expansion With New Stores
New Delhi: U.S. pizza chain Little Caesars is planning to open dozens of stores in India over the coming years aiming to capitalise on the country's robust economic growth, an executive told Reuters. Little Caesars will open its first Indian store in the Delhi NCR region this month. "India is on a growth trajectory ... We don't want to miss this wave," said Carlos Vidal, vice president of international development at the privately held Little Caesars. India's economy is projected to grow at 6.5 per centfor fiscal 2026, maintaining its position as the fastest-growing major economy, according to the International Monetary Fund. Founded in 1959, Little Caesars is the third largest pizza chain in the world, with a presence in more than 29 countries. The Indian pizza market is fiercely competitive, with established players like Domino's Pizza and Yum Brands' Pizza Hut, alongside local chains such as La Pino'z and numerous independent shops. India has proven a challenging market for other major pizza chains. Papa John's, for instance, exited in 2017 due to fierce competition and operational challenges, though it now plans to re-enter the market in 2025. A 100 Little Caesars stores in India by decade-end is a realistic target, Vidal said, adding the brand is "thinking about hundreds and eventually thousands of stores over time." Little Caesars is customizing its menu with vegetarian pizzas to cater to the country's significantly large vegetarian population. It will also introduce flavored crusts-a first for the brand-as plain crusts are often left uneaten by Indian consumers. In addition to India, Little Caesars plans to also focus on Malaysia, the Philippines, Indonesia, Thailand, the United Arab Emirates and Brazil over the next few years with a view to opening more new stores outside the United States.

Getty Argues Its Landmark UK Copyright Case Does Not Threaten AI
London: Getty Images' landmark copyright lawsuit against artificial intelligence company Stability AI began at London's High Court on Monday, with Getty rejecting Stability AI's contention the case posed a threat to the generative AI industry. Seattle-based Getty, which produces editorial content and creative stock images and video, accuses Stability AI of using its images to "train" its Stable Diffusion system, which can generate images from text inputs. Getty, which is bringing a parallel lawsuit against Stability AI in the United States, says Stability AI unlawfully scraped millions of images from its websites and used them to train and develop Stable Diffusion. Stability AI - which has raised hundreds of millions of dollars in funding and in March announced investment by the world's largest advertising company, WPP - is fighting the case and denies infringing any of Getty's rights. Before the trial began on Monday, Stability AI's spokesperson said "the wider dispute is about technological innovation and freedom of ideas". "Artists using our tools are producing works built upon collective human knowledge, which is at the core of fair use and freedom of expression," the spokesperson said. In court filings, Stability AI lawyer Hugo Cuddigan said Getty's lawsuit posed "an overt threat to Stability's whole business and the wider generative AI industry". Getty's lawyers said that argument was incorrect and their case was about upholding intellectual property rights. "It is not a battle between creatives and technology, where a win for Getty Images means the end of AI," Getty's lawyer Lindsay Lane told the court. She added: "The two industries can exist in synergistic harmony because copyright works and database rights are critical to the advancement and success of AI ... the problem is when AI companies such as Stability want to use those works without payment." WIDER IMPACT Getty's case is one of several lawsuits brought in Britain, the U.S. and elsewhere over the use of copyright-protected material to train AI models, after ChatGPT and other AI tools became widely available more than two years ago. Creative industries are grappling with the legal and ethical implications of AI models that can produce their own work after being trained on existing material. Prominent figures including Elton John have called for greater protections for artists. Lawyers say Getty's case will have a major impact on the law, as well as potentially informing government policy on copyright protections relating to AI. "Legally, we're in uncharted territory. This case will be pivotal in setting the boundaries of the monopoly granted by UK copyright in the age of AI," Rebecca Newman, a lawyer at Addleshaw Goddard, who is not involved in the case, said. Cerys Wyn Davies, from the law firm Pinsent Masons, said the High Court's ruling "could have a major bearing on market practice and the UK's attractiveness as a jurisdiction for AI development".
